The 15 day rule at border crossings was rescinded on January 1st of this year when the rule limiting them to 2 per calendar year at land border crossings went into effect.
WOW that must really kill the Malaysian tourism into southern Thailand - or maybe they have ASEAN exception

Can anyone please update me on visa on arrival rules for genuine UK tourist who has only visited Thailand once 8 years ago and is now planning a one year travel around S.E. Asia.
How many consecutive visas can be given? And what is consecutive? For example 2-4 weeks out of the country before return to Thailand. Can 3 or more visas on arrival be granted....?
Many Thanks

Just made an official complaint on
Details of the complaint
trying to make appointment on the website. Every day every time always same response -

I just started the same topic - did not see this one. Same problem. Every day every time :-
"the appointment you have chosen is no longer available. Please choose another time. !!!!
This morning 12 June became available to select - immediately I tried every time but SAME MASSAGE
the appointment you have chosen is no longer available. Please choose another time. !!!
SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE
-
Seems impossible to make an appointment during the on-line application process for Thai applying for UK tourist visa.
All other parts of the application process are fine until you get to this last stage.
Every date and every time over next 6 weeks - unavailable! This morning a new date became "available" (i.e. text no longer faded out but in bold and clickable to select times) but again every time I choose I get the same message - "The appointment you have chosen is no longer available. Please choose another time.
Of course there is no phone number anywhere to call!!
Anyone else had this experience?
How can one possible proceed?
Thanks.

After MRI and X-Ray at Bangkok Christian Hospital it was recommended that I need Shoulder Arthroscopy surgery. This is some sort of keyhole sugery to repair a torn tendon.
The price was the real shock. From 300,000 THB at BCH to 450,000 at Bumrungrad - thats between 6,000 - 9,000 pounds stirling. So then I enquired through the BUPA UK website and was quoted simiar prices in London private hospitals between 5,000 to 7,000 GBP
I always thought medical procedures were considerably cheaper in Thailand but now I am wondering. Anyone else had similar experiences ?

Funny I posted question on same topic on the same day. I am considering having the surgery soon in Bangkok and have found 2 hospitals with good Hand specialty departments

Also for general info about CTS you may find this excellent UK NHS website very useful

I need to find a good orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery. Anyone got any recommendations or know where to go on-line to try and compare and evaluate. There seems so very many hospitals in Bangkok
Much appreciate any advice

If anywhere in Bangkok you apply at Chaengwattana
You fill out TM.7 form (print front/back of A4 paper) and attach 4x6cm photo and write phone number below 2nd page signature.
You visit your bank office on ground floor to update passbook (same day) (and obtain a current letter of balance as yours will be old).
Have 1,900 baht for TM.7 application fee and some proof of you current address such as hotel bill.
Have copies of passport data page/departure card (front and back) and visa/entry stamp.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Its definately the TM7 form is it? And only this one?
Extension of Temporary Stay in The Kingdom Application Form (TM. 7)
There are so many forms to choose from

I'm 55 year old UK citizen ready for retirement.
Got a new Non-O visa from the UK valid for 3 months
Got 800,000 THB in a Thai bank for the past 6 months
Got letter from bank and passbook as proof
Got medical certificate from local hospital
Nearly home and dry? My question about address: no permanent fixed address at the moment. What sort of proof of address do I need? Will a letter from Thai girlfriend saying I am living at her address be enough? Even if she is not the home owner? Is receipt from hotel where I am staying enough?
Final question: can I go to any immigration office in the greater Bangkok area or is there one specific for 1st time retirement visa?
Thanks for any advice

But how to do if the transfer is for a later purchase ? If it is not written BUY CONDO will the land department accept the document in the future to buy a property ?
And if I write any random condo name, will they accept to use this document for another condo ?
Thank you again.
This is exactly my situation as well. Cannot get the form without concrete condo purchase and for me that may be years away. What will the bank they say 2-3 years down the road when I ask for the Foreign Exchange Transaction Form? I can imagine...

The big bus leaves from the main road next to the old ferry peir in Naton town. 7:30 and 9:30 am. Tickets are sold in the concrete sala on the main road, on the corner of the drive way leading into the parking area and the area where the night market is held.

so which Thai bank has the highest interest on say about 4 million baht?
Krungsi (BAY) and Siam Commercial and Bangkok Bank all offer 3.1% fixed for 12-15 months
Krungi also offer 2.8% interest on instant access savings

To breadin I would give my reasons as (1) 3.2 % interest (2) 15% tax rate refunded at year end for retired people (3) easy access to the money in emergencies (4) 47 exchange rate in my opinion it can only go down from here.
Finally no need to keep the money in one bank. 3 banks with 1m each the safest spread

I would greatly appreciate people's advice and experience:-
Let's say I send GBP from my UK bank to my Thai bank. The Thai bank make the foreign currency transaction and I end up with 3M THB in the bank here. I put the money on deposit with 2 or 3 different Thai banks for 2 or 3 years or more.
3-4 years in the future I decide I want to take the equivalent 3M THB back to the UK. Is this possible under current laws? What proof would BOT require that the money originated overseas? What restrictions exist? What loops would I need to jump through?
Many Thanks Again

Your Bank BAY is completely wrong. Firstly you don't need the FCTF to buy a house as you cant buy in your name anyway, request the FCTF from the Bank if you intend buying a condo, you can hold on to the FCTF for years till you find the suitable condo. I have received FCTF's from BAY in Pattaya without difficulty, speak to your branch manager with Passbook in hand. Now my bank BAY tell me they cannot give me this form until I make a house purchase.
Can people tell me if this is correct?
My plan was to bring the money over from the UK first (which I have done) and then look around for a property . Now it seems that unitl I make a house puchase I cannot get the form. And I have no idea what will happen if I want to take the money back to the UK in the future without purchasing a property.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and advice with me on this.
Regards BW.
I would love it if another person out there can confirm the advice of BW above. Before I go to the bank and make a Farang Fuss. My local branch on Samui said "cannot" and the person I spoke to in BKK gave me the spiel as I stated above.

Thank you so much Gsxrnz - I am truly embarrased that I did not see that. Must be getting old!

I don't see anywhere on the form where you can specify reason for transfering the money i.e. house purchase
Bank of Thailand (BOT) has here on its website: http://www.bot.or.th...FX_TranForm.doc
Thanks for any advice

Well the OP is a woman, so she could just marry and obtain Thai citizenship.
Problem solved.
As I have said we are a gay male couple. Seems like one of the few times lack of equality in the law works in our favour ...

Thanks you all again for interesting feedback. I understand loud and clear about the RENT RENT RENT argument. Just to defend my position I have been living (and renting) in Thailand for 11 years. Living (and renting) together with the same man for 8 years. He is NOT a bar girl Ha Ha or bar boy. He is a university educated accountant. I never do understand why so many farang get involved with prostitutes and then get angry or suprised when investments in the girl (or boy's name) don't work out. But that would be a whole different discussion for a different forum :-)
Why Buy? Because 3m THB in the bank in UK or Thailand cannot earn enough interest to cover the rent and I don't trust the stock market...

Desjoyaux just quoted me 380,000 THB to refurbish my existing liner pool with new liner! So that's just to replace the liner not build a pool! 100 square meter pool. Seems expensive. Can it be tiled cheaper ?? Here's the rub: I'm on Koh Samui where everything is double mainland prices...
