I wasn’t going to bother but what the heck. The Dec 11 report (32.51 mio) was arrivals till 31st Oct.

Why suddenly make it a round figure? Just a week ago it seemed perfectly fine to make a lot of fanfare about the 38.26 millionth arrival.

Besides, only on December 11 it was reported that arrivals had reached 32.5 million. Provided that both total arrival figures are correct, that would mean an increase of a whopping 6.5 million new arrivals over the past 16 days, or an average of 382,352 PER DAY. How on earth does Thailand's woefully understaffed immigration department have the capacity to even process half of that? They already seem to struggle when two Boeing-747 land back to back. I just continue to believe that all these figures are deliberately doctored.

Even if it is from Oct 31st to now it still means a tourist arrival figure of around 114.035 people per day or 4,750 people per hour (24 hours per day) - that seems a tad high to me ????

  2. Depending on where you are living, there is a German guy who has lived here many years and does organised visa runs from Koh Samui to Kota Bharu called Herbert. He is extremely knowledgable about requirements from Kota Bharu as he does runs just to there and he advises all his clients what they need for the various visas etc.

I've had food poisoning  exactly twice in Thailand. Both times after eating the same dish, Hoy Tod. It's  freaking delicious, but doesn't  seem to agree with me. Signs arose within the hour, vomitting, then all well. Imay giveit another go next time I'm back.

All shellfish are essentially water filters - that is how they get their nutrients to survive. The seawater is sucked in, passes through their digestive system and the waste is then flushed out. Of all seafood they are the most risky to eat because they retain a lot of stuff that is not good for people - cholera being one nasty aspect that one can catch from them.

In 24 years of living here I have been sick due to food a handful of times but the 2 worst were with shellfish. Haven't eaten them anywhere in the world for around 15 years now.

One of the worst places used to be the bay of Naples due to the untreated sewage that flowed into it but this was cleaned up some years ago now.

Thailand has a long way to go on that front sadly.

As I understand it you need to apply for a hotel license and then submit all the relevant documents.

The first item is to do with the build permit - most build permits are for residential use only - if that is the case that needs to be changed to show use for rental accommodation - there are various categories - check pugnatorius.com it will show you a number of the requirements.

You will either require a hotel license or an exemption for a hotel license but you need to have had it processed.

The cost for the licensing process is high - varying from 150k baht up to, one case I heard about, of 500k baht - these are for villa rental licensing purpose.
