    Best Friend Visa

Ok used to use G4T for yearly visa and they recently phoned me saying they are best Friend Visa and charge 9,200 to renew plus multiple exit and will collect and deliver to house. Anybody used them ?

Went to Tian at promenada and they want 12,000 and takes a couple of days as have to queue, just waited two hours ast year and all finished. Anybody know what is going on.

It seems to me that BFV has no priority contact in the Immigration.

Using the agent some months ago it take about 2,5 hours.

I arrived at their office at Pruksa Village at 12:30. I signed the papers and they take a picture.

Went to Promenada for some shopping. Got a call from the agent. Met her in the Immigration. But have to line up for three different counters: checking paper, taking picture, handing out the passport.

    Finished at about 15:00.

G4T was better organized: going just to 1 person in the Immigration, taking the picture and handing out the passport at the time.

The delivery service  worked fine for my 90day-report. But for the extension I doubt you can avoid to be seen by an Immigration official.

Probably will take BFV next year again

  2. If you don't mind to buy from a German website: hood.de.

Win7 professional, only licence-key by mail. Price is Eur 9,90. You can use paypal.

You have to download Win7 by yourself, a link is also provided in the mail.

By EU-law used software can be reselled. For me the licence-key worked but sometimes you may have to use the activation by telephone.

I am not sure if TVF-rules allow a direct link

  3. I do have the same phone, but never had this problem.

But - as all acoustic signals are coming from the external loudspeaker - may be this loudspeaker is broken.

If you go into personalizing your profile and editing the ringtone: when you choose another ringtone by tapping ONE time - can your hear the sound?

Doublecheck by activating the external loudspeaker when you are talking to another one - can you still hear the other side?

    Good luck.

As long as my Nokia phones - yes, 2 +1 as sparepart and another C5 even with buttons thumbsup.gif - are still doing fine I prefer the handling compared to modern smartphone.

  4. We took the flight 2 years ago from BKK to Berlin.

The food was russian-style. Yes, it fill your stomach.

Otherwise the biggest problem was the noise from some crying children - I guess you can have this experience in any other plane.

But the bord entertainment system offered a lot of music and videos (but not as much as Emirates) and the headphones had sufficient power

Talking to the staff was not so easy, only one stewardess had some more skills in English language.

For me SVO was a little bit confusing. We had to change the terminals, the signs were not clear.

And asking someone from the ground staff for the direction - good luck if you cannot express yourself in Russian.

saving 200 Euros on the ticket - at least you have the choice. I would do it again

  5. They made a pair of sandals for me.

I took an old shoe pair as an example to the shop.

He did not take any measurements or use carbonpaper as I remember it from Europe.

Even so the sandals are fitting fine so I am satisfied.

    I paid about 2500 THB.

I have a friend who is regularly buying boots about same price. He said only this shoes he can wear without getting pain in his back.

Of course it is a Thai owned shop.

The shoemaker and one of the women can speak a little bit English.

The shop is in Chang Phueak near Siri Wattana market on the 107 going to the superhighway.

  6. Hi all

I changed system from WinXP to WIN7.

Before I copied the encrypted PST-File to another HD and back again after new installation of Outlook .

Outlook didn't recognize the PST-File. I used scanpst.exe and then pstpassword.exe to get access to a password.

Now I can open the PST-file with Outlook. But it seems many of the emails have disappeared.

For the received emails it is not a big problem, because I use a gmail-account as backup.

But I don't have copies of the sent emails. In the PST-file there is no more any sent-folder. In a lost&found-folder the scanpst-program has stored some sent-emails but only up to about August 2013. All other emails I have sent after August until end of 2014 I cannot find.

I tried also some "professional" tools (stellar phönix and scanpst-exe). The result was only marginal better, offering recovery of about 50 items more - and no one from the missing sent-emails.

I know Google shows me a lot of recovery-tools. But I don't want to download all of them without a chance the program is better working then scanpst from Microsoft.

Does anybody has good experience with the recovery of a PST-file, especially where the scanpst.exe could not deliver all of the sent-emails?

If yes which tool did you use?

Thanks a lot for all helpful answers.

Conversion of a tourist visa to an O-visa for marriage can only be done inside Thailand by Bangkok. So if you have a visa exempt or a Tourist visa and wish to get a marriage extension you have two choices, go to Bangkok immigration or go out of country and get a single entry O-visa based on a marriage extension.

    Kwaibah, thanks for your answer.

I know, a conversion can be done in Bangkok. But my fried said immigration in Chiang Mai told him he has to go outside the country to apply for a new visa.

Are the knowledge of the officers so limited they don't know about the services Bangkok is offering?

  8. I just ran into something similar.

I have had a retirement extension for 7 consecutive years with no problems but this year thought that I would change to a marriage extension for reasons of cash flow. I checked to see if there would be any issues with the online appointment since it was booked ages ago and was for retirement, but after they looked at my passport I too was told that I had to go and get a new Non-Immigrant O visa outside the country. It turns out that the reason was that I originally entered the Kingdom on a tourist visa and had it changed to a Non O here in Chiang Mai so that I could get a retirement extension and it seems that this CM conversion doesn't work for a marriage application. I don't think anyone, anywhere could tell you why but that seems to be the policy.

Irritating as it is, it's cheaper to pay the British Consulate 2500 baht (or whatever it is now) for a letter to verify income than go and get a new visa so I'm just going to have to postpone the change until the next time I really need to go somewhere.

    Greenside, thanks for your answer.

Yesterday I got my friend on the phone. He said he entered Thailand with no visa. He did a lot of 30-day-runs to Mae Sai, before he applied for Extension of Stay.

He is rather old, so he doesn't remember if and where he went for a visa change.

It is new to me but there may be a rule in Thailand you need a regular non-imm visa before applying for an extension of stay based on marriage.

Anyway it seems silly to me when someone is already living for many years with EoS in Thailand. Why Immigration does not accept

My friend will follow the"advice" of the immigration and use his next flight to his homeland to get a visa.

  9. I have a friend far into retirement age and married to a Thai woman for more than 5 years in Chiang Mai province.

He is using his pension to show he has enough funds to apply for an extension.

He is fearing that in the future the Thai Baht will raise again so he can not meet the 800k THB limit then.

Last time(this year late spring) when he applied for a new extension based on marriage the officer told him he can only go this way after he entered Thailand with a new visa (non-imm "O").

His wife was together with him at the office so chance of misunderstanding is low.

After reading in the pinned topics and a lot of posts I am sure that such a rule is not existing.

Of course we all know immigration officer are creating some times their own rules.

Beside this my friend says he is very satisfied the way this officer is dealing with him.

So what he can do without causing too much trouble?

Should he ask to talk with the supervisor?

    Ask for a written guideline?

Or does anybody know a link to an official document where is written what is necessary to provide when changing the type of extension? Preferably in Thai language.

    Thanks for your advice

Mods: I take CM Forum because I think it is a problem with the regional immigration office. If more suitable you can move it to the Visa forum

  10. Forget the Yamaha if you don't want starting problems, also not many aftermarket parts which means your stuck with expensive OE parts, the Honda parts are more reasonable for a used bike

I don' doubt you had problems with your Nuovo but don't generalize.

We are using the Nuovo for 3,5 years. There was only one problem with starting. But after 3 years it may be necessary to replace the battery.

I cannot complain of the stability.

It's easy to keep a speed of 80kmh. But on the GPS this means only a little bit more than 70kmh.

I was not able as a single rider to maintain more than 105kmh (speedometer).

I you keep the speed in the high region, you consume gasoline near to 3l/100km, may be caused by E10 with its lower energy.

Finally: the disk-brake is OK for 1 person. With 2 person, about 135kg, I can only hope at "high speed" there is a lot of space for braking.

  11. I am using Lanna Lab.
I don't know if other labs are cheaper but I pay more at a hospital.

    Just some examples:

    100 THB: CBC

    150 THB: CBC+GLU

    890 THB: CBC+GLU+A1C+BUN+CRE+CHO+TRIG+HDL+LDL+GOT+GPL

If you agree they will send the result by email, so no second visit and faster than the post.

Normally somebody is available with at least basic English.

    The location:

in a soi south of Mahidol Rd (=1141 from SuperHighway to Airport), about 300m west of Ping River.

Almost no tourists, the beach is more than 3km long, not so much facilities, swallow water.

Opposite of this peninsula is a uniqe little pier, good for relaxing:

If you like to swim in a waterfall (more a lot of pools in the flow of the river) I recommend this place in the Khao Lung mountains

You are avoiding the crazy entry fees in the National Parks. Of course, if there was (or is) too much rain it is to dangerous.

I cannot remember a taxi service. You can find the usual bike-taxis at the local market close to the railway station, but for long distance?

I was happy to get a scooter from my SIL thumbsup.gif.

What about a short visit to the provincial museum (some displays with English text) in the Thalad park?

Not far away there is a small city zoo with a lot of animals almost in touch. But my last visit was February 2011 and with the big flood then everything was inundated. So not sure about the situation now.

I am not interested in seafood. May be my wife or her sister can give some advice.

If yes I add another reply.

  13. I also had to learn it the hard way.

About one year ago I transferred money from my European bank to BkkBank.

I chose to send THB because exchange rate was better in Europe.

When finally I got the money into BkkBank, it was less than expected.

The nice lady at the counter explained to me:

incoming international fund transfer in THB cannot go directly to a BkkBank-account.

It must be processed first by another bank, I think it was SCB. This bank deducts their own fee.

Than SCB transfers the THB-amount by BAHTNET to my BkkBank-account, of course charging again a fee.

So be careful: if you want to send a THB-amount from outside to Thailand check before if any other bank is involved and what are the fees.

Obviously with another bank there may be a different procedure (e.g. SCB does not have to cooperate with another bank).

To me it looks a little bit strange why BkkBank can handle incoming funds in EUR but not in THB - TITsad.png

    Like normal the website http://www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/DailyBanking/CurrencyExchange/Pages/Fees.aspx#1

do not show the full truth

  14. I am using the Real Ozzy now for about 3 months.

I can mention only 3 PROs, but those are very important to me:

    • it fits my head
    • it has a ECE-certificate, so I hope I have better chances in a crash
    • the chin strap is fitted with a ratchet buckle (sp.) so you can tighten the strap without adjusting the strap itself

On the other hand I found some CONs:

    • I removed the pads next to the chin, because they are blocking the airflow, getting to hot here in Thailand
    • The visor is to short. It is only protecting the eyes, not the lower part of the face including nose and mouth which allows all the dirt and insects to come in contact with me
    • The sun visor is almost useless. A low sun is still too bright through the sun visor but it is difficult to see the dark details on the road.
It would be better if it is blocking the sunlight completely, but only in a narrow angle upwards.
On the positive side: pressing a button on the left side and the sun visor disappears immediately
    • I always thought a helmet cannot leave your head when the chin strap is tightened.
With only a little force I can pull the Ozzy from my head lifting up from the neck.
I think the helmet shell is a little bit to short at the back of the head.

That said I will continue with this helmet. It is very comfortable when driving and I got used to the disadvantages.

  15. You can try Sudhee Sudana. He is a retired professor, pretty good English. His clinic is located at the North-West end of the superhighway

    http://maps.google.d...132.03,,0,19.19

The last time I visited him was more than 12 months agosmile.png. I got treatment for my knees. A physiotherapy is integrated in the clinic.

At this time his clinic was open on MO, TU, FR 17:00-19:00 and SA 9:30-12:00.

    His telephone: 053 214139 or 0899538071

  16. You don't write where your house is located.

Here in Chiang Mai province in a rural area last year our neighbour paid for 200m cable(1-phase) and 8 poles (5m) about 30000 THB.

It was made by a private company because they were cheaper than PEA..

The connecting of this line to the existing grid was made by PEA (including the meter) so you should talk to them before.

There is a fee for this work and you have to pay a deposit for the meter.

AFAIK every power line on public land becomes public property after 6 months

  17. You can contact Khun Kittipon Makprapamongko, tel. 0817646271 or 0815300181. Or email him: kittiponm [at] hotmail.com.

    He speaks a good English.

Compared with the insurance offered from the car dealer he saved us more than 30% for a First Class Insurance.

Till now no claims have been made - we must be luckyrolleyes.gif

You can find his office at Sri Wattana. Take the MahidolRd <1141> from the SuperHwy, exit old CM-Lamphun-Rd <106>, about 100m before the traffic light on the left.
