Is it still true that regardless of which amphur you married, you can divorce at any amphur in Thailand so long as both parties agree, you have the required documentation and produce two witnesses?
-
Thanks everyone. Usually we do go together but when this one comes up it looks like clashing with the wife's plans to visit family elsewhere, so I'll go alone for once.

Does my wife need to come with me to report after waiting through the 30 day 'Under Consideration' period, or can it just be me?
-
Thanks all for confirmation.

Is it possible to report to a different immigration office to obtain the extension based on marriage after completing the application and waiting the 30 days 'under consideration' period, or must it be where you made the application?

Thanks to all for for helpful info. Appreciated.

Hi. Does anyone have any suggestions for longterm reasonable price accommodation close to amenities, maybe Patong. Guideline: small bungalow, clean but modest, around 10k or less monthly? Or budget guest house. Thanks.

Yes you can at any of the currency exchange booths at the departure level.
My thanks to you.

Can someone confirm that I could buy about 1000 British pounds at Suvarnabhumi instantly without the need to order in advance? Also, is it best to pay for them in baht notes (about 44000) or on debit card? Thanks.

Thanks,4evermaat. Appreciated.

I've digested much of the advice given here but have a slightly different situation I'd appreciate help with. I'm forced through circumstances to leave Thailand where I bank with Bangkok Bank and have a Be1st debit card. I don't have a UK bank account, except a special account with Bangkok Bank, London that used to used only for transfering pension money to Thailand. I doubt I'll be able to open a UK bank account after 8 years away and no credit rating. There is about 600000 baht in the Thailand account. What is the best option? Buy a goodly amount of pound sterling here and take to Uk, or just take a little and use my Be1st card in the UK?

Immigration will give a 60 days extension to you. 1,900 Baht. ^^^^^
Thanks so much. Appreciated. If by chance I took out the 60 days then found I did need to renew the marriage extension, would that still be possible?
-
On a similar note, my extension based on marriage is due for renewal in 2 weeks. Due to poss change in circumstances, I may not need 12 months. Can I get a short extension from my usual immigration office? Not a marriage extension, just one to tide me over pending possible departure from Thailand. Thanks

A classic description, Swissie. Thanks. There have been some wonderful stories in this thread. Thanks to all posters. Keep 'em coming!

My gadgets worked fine until the latest updates for Windows 7 were installed 3 days ago. So it seems Microsoft are now forcing all Windows 7 users to follow what was last year only advice to disable. For sure an excuse to promote Windows 8, without making it clear the new edition has so-called applications, not gadgets. Clever marketing tactics. But, like I said at #8 above, there are effective routes round this without the help of Microsoft.
-
I've taken the easy route round this by installing currency converter and weather info into Mozilla Firefox tool bar.
-
Strange these announcements go back to Jul 2012. I feel along with many it's a ploy to get more users to upgrade to Windows 8.

I've had a bugger of a time trying to activate Office 2013.
If your widgets are using M$ servers, perhaps they're under a DDOS attack or something.
Thanks for the possibility.

Any IT/ computer geniuses out there who can tell me why Microsoft's desktop gadgets for currency rates and weather/temperature haven't worked for 2 days? Everything else online is fast and no probs. If it was just local weather/temp, I'd say a local situation, but international currencies as well? I'm in the far north east of Isaan.

There's something magical in the village after unseasonably high temperatures are relieved by the gathering of storm clouds, heavy gusts of wind followed by a torrential downpour. Who cares that the freshly-washed car, left outside, is be-speckled in grime? Who cares nobody thinks to bring in the washing airing on a bamboo pole outside? Who cares that the electricity might go off? I do. My beer could go warm.

There was this foreign guy who decided to buy a microwave oven and a tabletop convector (conventional) oven as a surprise for his Isaan G.F. on his recent visit to her village. The two appliances sat side by side on the work surface in her kitchen.
Days after her boyfriend went home he got a phone call saying the microwave had blown up and the other oven kept smoking and smelling funny.
“What were you cooking in the microwave?” the boyfriend asked.
“Just a small metal pot with some rice in it,” she told him.
“Hmm. And what were you cooking in the other oven?” He asked nervously.“A frozen ready meal in a sort of paper tray,” she explained. “What happen? Why they no good now?”

Query About 30 Days 'under Consideration' Period For Annual Extension
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
One final query. Would the temporary 'under consideration' stamp qualify for exemption from overstay if I left Thailand during that 30 day period? I'm aware I'd need a re-entry permit to return and aware of the knock-on effect, but what if I departed Thailand within that 30 day period? Would that cause any problems on clearing airport departure procedures?
