  1. Why not change your number so that there is no real connection between you and the number then if you have any trouble be polite and respectful and deny all. You may have trouble being polite and respectful saying things like this:

---->It makes no difference to me. If no-one can help Ill just go to Angleles City in Phillipines. Ive heard the women out there are even better! <----
  2. I had the same problem at Power Buy at Siam World. Lucky the next week my Tee Ruk came with me to Power Buy in Central Rama 3. She convinced them that I could also have the Easy Buy option where they debit my Platinum card that they did not want at Central World. So Go figure, now I have 10 months interest free and the TV.

BTW, The TV I originally wanted was a 32 inch Full HD for 19,999. I got a 42 Inch full HD Philips with a free DVD player for 27,000 - or 10 easy payments at 2,700 a month - interest free

  3. This is good, as Burriram airport is out in the middle of nowhere and difficult to get to and from. Surin with the airport nearly in the middle of town to me is an attractive alternative.

Hopefully the flight times will be more useful than a mid morning / lunch time flight on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  4. I know my reply may be a little late, but in Burriram I use AIS Post-Paid and connect to the Company VPN in the USA and Singapore with no problems. Be sure to set your timeout to the maximum on the VPN settings, otherwise the connection will regularly drop.

  5. I suppose the main thing is the fact there is limited scope to change lenses. I know there are 2 or 3 add-ons for lenses, being Wide Angle and Tele.

There are some great advantages to a modern digital camera like the face detection stuff and all the different ways you can perform Post Processing.

One nice thing is the Marine body for the G10 is about 7k at Pantip Plaza to taking it to the beach and in the water is an affordable reality.

  6. I can't remember exactly :) I can tell you that it is 100% h2o, and that the only PP it's had is a bad crop and slight levels adjustment. No PP special effects at all. Creative lighting and the homemade canvas helped a lot to create the effect.

Great effect! did you use wax or oil?

That is what I was thinking

  7. Wow and at 37 Mega Pixel, the lenses must be something else. I was turned off Leica kit when my uncle, who was and still is a professional nature photographer gave away his R3 or R4 (I forget now) and went back to his "Trusty Canon F1" as he did not like a camera that was smarter then him.

  8. Finally "Fun Water" it may be a decorative fancy, relaxation or entertainment, but we all know how important it is for us all. This image was either yesterday or today and 25 meters from "Dirty Water"

    post-73397-1250442379_thumb.jpg

I feel the subject of water is the theme, so the dive photo's are good for me also. I had a few that went into the dustbin like a half empty water bottle on the floor of the "Rot" and a policeman standing in the rain. I wanted to use "Fun Water" as I have a little video essay on the editing bench now.

Thank you and I hope you have enjoyed my entries.

  9. Ok;

I intend to post 3 images, this is a still from the Camcorder. The title is Beautiful Water" simple this water we can drink, it goes to our rice crops and our animals drink from it. post-73397-1250440743_thumb.jpg

The next two I need to remove a proportion of the Exif data, as it contains personal information.

  10. That is why I was saying that technical quality is only 1/5 of the value of the piece of work.

The Vulcan; if I remember you have a Canon G10, that will do video, therefore, a carefully planned and framed shot is more important than technical merits. I am sure also that people have Camera Phones that can do video, and normally the phones come with some form of video editing software.

astral; to your point, I can drop-in the HD Video Segment that has plenty of data about the shot, in terms of HD video, but then I was thinking about this, and the point of the regular competitions and the point is to have some fun and share our thoughts and what gives us all enjoyment of the world. I was also thinking that exif data can be edited. I found this out as I wanted to put the GPS location on my shots which can be done, so in the future I won't be saying... mmm looks like a nice place, I wish I could remember where it was.

  11. You can try The Good View ,Bar and resturant at the end of Thanon Tok good food and music , the best way to get there is head for the intersection of Charoen Krung and Rama 3 and Thanon Tok, most taxis know Thanon Tok

The Good View is great, and sitting by the water in the evening having a nice drink with the music is an excellent experience. The price is not bad also, I remember Glenmorangie was 1,900 a bottle, with a few bottles of mixers.

  12. There seem some great contests, however they seem to require the Exif data. Some of the images I want to enter are frames from my HD camcorder (about 5 Mega pixel). Because these are frames from video, there is no exif data. So are these images allowed ?

Second question - are we going to have a video challenge. I would suggest a 1 minute clip of the same subject as the still section. I think that they should be judged on the following.

    1. Relevance to the subject.

    2. Camera work

    3. Sound quality and relevance

    4. Editing.

    5. Technical quality

This means that the additional can be open to anyone from a Camera phone to more professional equipment can enter, and editing and post editing can also be as simple with windows movie maker etc. Having a number of judging elements means that someone with a HD camera taking average footage cannot win. I was thinking 1 minute gives 4 x 15 second clips or 3 x 20 seconds, with the possibility of voice over or sound effects / dubbing.

I am interested in your responses.

  13. That looks like about 40k Baht.

At the moment Power Buy has all sorts of specials running, and there is even the odd special at Tesco. I was in Siam Paragon yesterday and I saw there was a 32 Inch unit, I think from Sanyo with Full HD for 13,000 so based on that you could buy 3 of them, maybe one for the Lounge, one for the bedroom and one for the outdoor entertainment area.

There are also some large format TV's 40 - 42 inch LCD HD Ready for less than the money you are talking about. I also saw a 50 Inch LG Plasma for that sort of money also.

Its a nice place to be having that amount of money with the specials at the moment.

  14. I have been troubled by this myself as at Fortune Town there is a shop that sells heaps of Blu-Ray disks at a competitive price. I am not sure of the compatability to the players. As the players have just come down from 25k to about 16k, my interest is once again sparked.

In Power Buy in Central Rama 3, they had a player for 16k which they claimed in Thai script it would play all formats from all parts of the world. There is another electrical shop on about the third level there that sells the Toshiba units for about the same and also claim they are region free. Maybe I will go to Fortune and buy a test disk to see if my investment will be well spent or not.

My other trouble is that Blu-Ray disks to make my own movies from my HD Camcorder are still very expensive, and I have not found anywhere to get them at a decent price.

  15. If the level is wrong you can always boost or lower it with the software after. The main problem with the built in mic is the sound is not good, external mic solves it.

If you ever want to shot video and share it with others, as any pro video person will say, it's 50% sound and 50% image, sounds weird but when you go to a studio you clearly see this, for amateurs this is the most overseen issue. Then as anyone doing photography can testify the image is all about light, this is exactly the same for video. Hence video is far more difficult to make so anyone appreciate to view the end result than photography, as you need a lot of attention to sound, light, have a plot so it's not meaningless footage... you have to tell a story...

Easy tips of improving video is to never ever zoom when filming, use tripod, if you want to move around with the camera, use a steadycam. You can make a dedicated one easily, search the internet for a how2. Or you can keep the tripod attached not extended and use it as a counter balance that gives you a rudimentary steadycam. Use external microphone, worst case scenario attached to the camera. That should give you a good start, you need to zoom? stop filming frame it with the zoom and start filming or move the camera.

Before you shot, best is to plot what you will shoot, why do you shot, what's the purpose, what are you trying to tell others and so on. I do some videos, but they're simple as it's just footage of motorcycle riding, bolted to the bike. I tried making some travel vids and so on but found the task to daunting, to much editing after and to much hassle for unsuccessful results, as nobody was really enjoying them much (found it much better with photographs on slide show DVD), the bike vids are easier and the target audience (bikers) seems to enjoy them.

So whatever you go for enjoy it, but realize it's very very hard to make enjoyable home videos.

So very true. Excellent post. The only thing I would add is also about Panning or Tilting, try to avoid that as much as possible as a general rule, without very thorough planning. Allow the movement to move in a fame rather than panning the camera. Also try not to make a single shot longer than a minute, do not make a shot less than 12 seconds it takes a normal person about that long to understand what they are looking at.

  16. sony sr11 is a great camera but not exactly pocket size but near enough. Footage from SD video cameras is really bad if you can't hold them very still.

I have a SR 12 and you really need to use a Tripod wherever possible, otherwise the HD images on a large LCD screen look awful. It is good having the external headphone jack, as the sound recorded by the microphone on the camera may not be what you expect.

The SR12 / SR11 unfortunately does not suit the OP's requirements as it has a Hard Disk Drive.
