1. Good luck anyway and I hope you get the visa.We also paid the extra few baht for the SMS service, but when you finally receive the SMS............the SMS reads only,YOUR APPLICATION IS NOW READY FOR COLLECTION.............it does not actually tell you that the visa has been granted or not.You do not know if you have the visa until you open the passport.I can only assume they send out the same SMS to all applicants whether you get a visa or not.
In response to your question..................18 working days( not including weekends)..............just got our visa back last week.

Wow, that's longer than I expected. Did you book and pay for your flights outright before applying?

No I did not pay or book for any flights before applying,as knowing my luck I would not have been granted the visa if I had have done so .
Also I think the VFS website advises you not to book any flights.

That's strange, i thought you had to provide proof of a return ticket, have I misread something?

No proof of a ticket is required. You could get a quote from a travel agent and include that in your travel arrangements, just to give the embassy an idea of what/when you propose to go overseas exactly, but no actual ticket is required thats for sure.

  4. Maybe only brits should be posting on this topic,as we are the experts on the subject of fish and chips......................just like to say,oh my cod is very nice, the best fish and chips in thailand that i have tasted, chips, cod, mushy peas, vinegar, surroundings, service all very good in my opinion.Offshore is ok but you feel like you need a few injections from the dr before you go into the place seems a bit dirty ?

  5. I was disappointed with Oh My Cod! after lofty expectations.

The fish and chips are average at best.

Best in the city is still The Ship Inn on Sukhumvit 23 by a large margin.

Really? How does it compare with Offshore?

offshore is a dreadful place,oh my cod first class,

  6. I visited the OH MY COD fish and chip shop last night for the first time, just want to tell everyone, what a fantastic place it is,so much better than the offshore chippy off sukhumvit.Real fish and chips, proper vinegar, tastes like the chippie back home, well better actually,as decent chip shops are quite hard to find in the uk now, especially London.Imported cider,10/10 for everything. It felt like christmas eve when I was a kid, waiting for the food to arrive, and when it did I was thoroughly impressed.Wonderful, keep up the good work................THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN THAILAND....................

Sorry about that it looks like I have posted it on the Pattaya forum, accident sorry.

  8. P R Place (Pratunam)gets my vote FOR THE WORST APARTMENT.......9500 a month(6 month) plus 300 for the fridge,500 tv,500 internet, water 300,old style aircon unit which would roughly be about 3000 baht a month if you had it on say 5 hours a day.I tried to complain to the miserable lady on reception( if you ever see IT smile you win a prize)about my internet connection, wardrobe doors not closing, lift not working (slowest in bangkok)and some other minor things, she could not help me and said I complained to much(I was informed that this apartment was for LOW SO NOT HI SO,and that is why it was cheap, well not so cheap if you add it all up) so I asked for the owners number etc,but she refused,in the end I had to leave, difficult to get the deposit back also.Oh nearly forgot you can only stay here if your a farang-thai or from south east asia, any other visitors enquiring at reception about a room will be told they are full and there are no vacancies, even though there are plenty of rooms.

  9. P R Place is very unfriendly,if you see the miserable receptionist smile, you win a prize, difficult to get your deposit back, old style aircon units, very expensive to run, lift often broken down.Rooms at the front of the building very noisy.Cannot complain to the owner,as the receptionist refuses to give details.Customer service zero.I would not send anyone to stay here.

  10. 1 bedroom condo for rent 15,000 baht per month,1 bedroom,1 living room,2 bathrooms,View of Doi Suthep from the balcony, keycard entry, security. The apartment is 1 year old and is in excellent condition, fully furnished.Location 10 minutes from Chaing mai airport by car.Car Park.Very relaxing and peaceful area.Pim 084-8094677

  11. Hey,

My 9 year old (Thai/UK), currently at Traill in Ramkhamhaneg, is desperately in need of some extra maths tuition, but drawing a bit of a blank trying to get her sorted out. Needs very basic arithmetic help maybe twice a week after skool (3:30 pm) for the next few months (live in Lat Phrao, Bangkapi).

Any offers or pointers gratefully received.

    Thanks.

    W.

  12. It was a good service if you like waiting and like behaving like an animal for 48 hours ?.........If you think waiting around at a border crossing for 90 minutes thai side, while your agent is nowhere to be seen, then suddenly appears and are waved at, to board a bus like sheep, then wait at the entry to laos for over 2 hours with not many seats and in the boiling heat while solo day trippers sail past you, while she went somewhere again, with no words being spoken on every occasion including at the embassy. Then it was a good service. Yes there was about 300 farangs there, also hundreds of filipinos,i know they dont need a visa for laos, but they were hanging around to,while the japanese seemed to get treated like superstars. Also we should have left laos at 12.40 the following day,but again the agent was nowhere to be seen, and we left laos at 5 pm,the 25 baht voucher for food on the way home was a nice gesture though,NOT.Maybe some people expect more than others,in my opinion the service offered was dreadful.
