Does anyone know to what extent are English-language skills taken into consideration when applying for a tourist visa for a Thai wife? My wife speaks hardly any English (we speak Thai) but we - along with our 4-yr-old daughter - would like to go to visit my parents back in UK for a couple of weeks.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks.

Hello.
I have a few questions re marriage. Sorry if the answers are elsewhere (I have tried looking but couldn't find specifics)
1. To get married to a Thai national does she need original house registration or a copy?
2. As I am divorced from ex wife in UK, do I need to show proof of payments to my children (who live with my ex-wife and her husband).
3. I have the decree absolute from 2008, is this sufficient?
4. In the Affirmation of Freedom to Marry document from the UK Embassy it requests information regarding income: do I need to prove income or just state what I earn?
If anyone can shed some light on these questions I would be so grateful.
Many thanks

what is it about Phuket? Loads of farangs are dying, killing or involved in something...

I have also experienced similar, from a Thai lady threatening to hire people to kill me. About 15 years ago. I did nothing and nothing ever happened.

Many thanks, for your replies on this subject Mario. You are a diamond.
Cheers

Mario, can I ask a question please.
My Thai partner and I are not married but our daughter (aged four) has my surname (her full name - using my surname - is written on the birth certificate and in my partner's house registration). Does this make me the legal father of my daughter, and do you think this would be sufficient evidence of proof of having legal custody of the child (as per Hull's recent updated message on non-immigrant visas).
I am suspecting your answer is no on both counts but just want to check...
Many thanks indeed

I have a couple of questions on this; I'm a little confused.
1. Does the 400,000 have to be fixed account or savings account (I bank with the Bangkok Bank)
2. What is Kor Ror 2?
3. What is Kor Ror 3?
3. Do the bank's offer such a service as writing a letter confirming money in account? Do I just ask them? Is there a fee?
4. Is the Embassy letter stating income the same as the Affirmation of Freedom to Marry Form or something different?
5. Where do I go to do this? The main immigration office at Chaeng Wattana?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

You must have had 400,000 THB on deposit for 2 months prior to your application, or a proven monthly income of 40,000 THB (evidenced, for example, by a Work Permit plus the most recent Thai tax receipts [PND1] and annual returns [PND91]).
I bank with the Bangkok Bank. Does the money have to be in a savings account or fixed account?

So sorry for any repetition with this post. I have spent 40 mins looking through and I am so confused!
I need to get married now I cannot get the Non-imm O one-year from Hull based on my/our three-year-old daughter. (I always knew I'd have to get married eventually!)
I know how to get married at the amphur etc.
My query is about the possible one-year visa extension based on marriage, once we tie the knot.
Can anyone point me to the definitive list of requirements? My biggest confusion is whether monthly income is required by Thai authorities or whether a lump sum is required - or even whether it is both!!
Please help.
Thank you

Many thanks for any response...

Stupid questions I know... But I need to drive my motorbike to Pattaya tomorrow. Can someone kindly help...
Do I get to Sukhumvit and then follow the road east Bang Na Trad?
Does Sukhumvit just joint Bang Na Trad naturally or do you have to turn off somewhere to get the road to Pattaya (looked at maps and can't work it out)
Is Bang Na Trad a highway; can motorcycles go on this road; or do they go underneath the highway?
Many thanks for someone's help!

Does anyone know if you can ride your motorcycle on tollways at the moment (in view of floods). I need to travel to Pattaya from Bangkok and dont fancy going along Banga Na Trat.
Cheers,

I know tollways are currently free, but can motorcycles go onto tollways at the moment?
Thanks

I need to travel to BKK to Pattaya. I have my motorcyle. But...Can anyone kindly advise: How long will toll roads/motorways be open to motorcycles as is currently the case due to floods?
Many thanks in advance.

Please post that again but do not use all capital letters. Then people may read it and reply.
And why is that exactly? Is it a TV rule?

Been using hull for many years. Never seen nor heard anything like this. Only thing I'd say is that it's worth moving ur exit flight forward on application forms in order to stimulate haste. It's always a worrying business, sending ur passport through post. Good luck anyway and please tell how u get on.

I admit its not a killer but for sure its quicker of the block than a cbr400. i had the latter bike for many years and my new 250r with good torque is much more nippy at low speeds, which i like

For those who said boring. Have a look at this http://www.motorcycl...2011-90251.html
Hottest bikes of 2011. What's at #6, among some of the biggest/most expensive/most powerful bikes on the planet?
no mention of a cbr 250 there
have to agree though, single cylinder 250 = boring, especially with Honda trying to disguise it as a sportsbike
No mention? What a strange response! Did you actually scroll down ???????????

I have Thai friends in UK (mostly hi-so). They have told me previously that they are exempt as they live/study abroad. I don't know how they get round it until they are 30; I'm sure there are plenty of ways for the richer Thai folk to get round this.
