thanks a lot justsignedin!
I just went to Bungsamran today and landed some monsters so it would be nice to head out of town to try change the atmosphere while also landing some biggies!
Hi,
To be honest I have never tried Jomtien fishing park, but I have made a few trips to Pattaya fishing park. never had a bad day there, the times I have been the fish have averaged 18kg, biggest I have seen was around 30 kg, reports say they go up to 40kg. Through general chit chat with anglers who do the rounds, Pattaya fishing park seems to be most popular, especially for big fish.

Hello fellow anglers,
I live in Bangkok and have been meaning to head down to Pattaya for a weekend and would like to check out one of their fishing parks. So far all I've found on the internet are Jomtien Fishing Park and Pattaya Fishing Park. They both look good but I'd like to know which one has the better fishing experience. By better I mean a combination of plentiful stock and large fishes.
cheers :jap:

I could go grab a magazine like you suggest but that's just not the same. I'd like some suggestions from some regular people as opposed to professionals who have to go because its their job.
So, you will not have any insider information... because it's my job!
Bon appetit... anyway
Cheers lazygourmet! Who do you work for?
-
you're gonna pay a lot of money doing that. Show up at a fishing park and ask a guide to help you.
In Gnoa nam where you'll get fish over 100kgs the guides will be over the moon with a
100 baht tip for the day....
1 rod for about 12 hours is 150 baht. Bait is typically 50 baht a bag.
You can take a taxi across bangkok for about 200 baht.
Best advice you'll get...
Good luck
Hi,
Can you give me an address, or better still a map or website?
Cheers Mark
Hey Mark I found this for you but it's in Thai. Perhaps you can print this out and give it to a taxi driver.

saw the same documentary too... Jeremy Wade is the <deleted> MAN!

lol flame wars are awesome.
Hey OP,
I get my stuff delivered to me from http://shopping.thaimuscle.net. My usual purchase is the 10lb Whey Maxx which only costs me B4,850. It tastes pretty good, mixes well with water and 24g of protein per serve. I have bought it earlier last year and I'm still trying to finish the dam_n thing.
You can also get a 300g contain of Musashi creatine for B1,150 here too.
hope that helps brother.

OK this isn't a burger joint but I reccomend their burger here HIGHLY reccomend...it's a nice place with fantastic food. Great mojitos. I used to work with one of the chef's in NYC. Very accomplished and delicious.
Nice drinks from REAL bartenders. Fabulous food from world renowned chefs. Try it out. =) I think they have some reviews going around also.
Hey there,
yeah I've check out Hyde n Seek. Quite the fun and fantastic place indeed! Their use of sous vide cooking method was just awesome!

"Table de tee" is great if you are wanting to go slightly more upmarket. The location is slightly off-putting, being in a seedy looking soi off sala daeng, but the food is incredible.
Now that's a place I've been meaning to try! thanks!

Do you have a cuisine in mind?
Anything really, my mind is open and my stomach is rumbling
cheers
There is a great restaurant at Central World called AKA.
lol sorry I don't like my meals well done

los cabos(mexican) sukumvit soi 14.
popular with a lot of tv members.
Thanks tigerfish, I've tried that place before. Very beautiful setting and interesting food. It was sort of like posh Mexican food, an interesting twist on something you usually see sold from vans.

Hey folks, just looking for a new and interesting restaurant to try out this week. Anyone got anything relatively new (i.e. has been opened for less than a year)?
Cheers,
O

I've been asking the very same question myself actually and all I have found is this website http://www.muangpla.com/. It looks like it has fly fishing gear for sale but I've never made an order or anything. So if anyone is willing to be the shopping guinea pig please feel free!
-
KFC delivery at phone number 1150. With only B30 delivery charge and service in downtown Bangkok all the way til midnight it's my go to when I have to stay late in the office
-
Woah! nice one Ianforbes! Where do you get your fly fishing gear in Thailand? Is it from back home or did you order it online? I'm a freshwater fisherman myself and have been wanting to get into fly fishing for a while now.

You're answering questions that were asked nearly six years ago Oz.
The OP probably won't read it. (his last post was in 2005)
woops!

Hey there 350Torana,
if you love lure fishing then there are three main freshwater species here in Thailand that would excite you. I'll just write their info down as well so you'll have a better picture.
The Striped Snakehead (aka Pla Chon)
Size: 1-2kg
Taste: Delicious
Lure: scum frogs, surface frogs, surface lures, rubber shad and spinner baits.
The Giant Snakehead (aka Pla Chado or Shadow)
Size: 1-8kg
Taste: Somewhat awful
Lure: surface frogs, buzz baits, diving baits (this is for a specific technique) and just about anything that makes a large splashing sound on the surface.
and The Spotted barb (aka Pla Krasuub)
Size: 1-4kg
Taste: Pretty good
Lure: surface lures, poppers and slash baits.
As for the wife situation you shouldn't worry too much about it. It's a Thai-Buddhist impulse to suddenly feel guilty about something like fishing. It's best just to talk as little about it as possible however, should she persist you talk about it just bring up a ghost story, that'll quickly change the subject. Trust me, I'm Thai after all.
Tight lines

what awesome news!
-
Oh no, I am stationed right here in Bangkok.
Kaeng Krajan actually has no house boats, this is because of their very strict water QC. Although unlike Bang Phra there are hotels right on the water as well as motorised longtail boats that you can contact to take you to the fishing locations.
Sangkla Buri? what an awesome place to fish!

I do love the joy of catching some voracious barramundi every once in a while but boy do I hate how they damage the hel_l out of my shock leader lol.
P.S. anyone ever notice how Thai people always call barramundi "sea bass" at restaurants?
-
hi everyone and thank you for the warm welcome.
@ Sevenhills, G'day to you too mate, I used to go to school in Australia. In fact, it was in Australia that I caught my very first fish, a tiny little bream off the beach lol! It didn't matter, to me it was one of the proudest moments in my life.
@ Jay, I write features and restaurant reviews for a lifestyle and entertainment magazine. I've heard about the saltwater fishing restrictions over the radio. Looks like you're going to have some hard months a head of you.
@ lfactory, The place I got most often is the Bang Prah reservoir in Chon Buri because it's the closest place to home. The snakehead there are usually quite small but you do get the occasional monsters once in a while. A lot of times I would go to the Kaeng Krachan reservoir when I have the time to plan a 2-3 night trip. Are you a lure fisherman yourself lfactory?

Hi fellow anglers,
my name is Oz and I have been on Thaivisa for sometime now but only recently discovered the forum's section on fishing so I'd like to introduce myself to the community.
I am a Thai national, I work for a magazine, I am a big fan of lure fishing (especially giant snakeheads) and I am a Bangkok resident.
Pleased to meet you all,
Oz
Giant Snakehead
in Fishing in Thailand

I love chasing these beautiful creatures as it is sight fishing at its best and the reward for persistance and accuracy is a big parent giant snakehead. However it is crucial that these parents are released to tend to their young!
Here is one that I had chased all morning until it finally bit down hard on my bait.
Anyway tight lines!
