  1. If you want a second opinion I suggest either Dr. Somboon Chaisrisawadisuk or Dr. Wimon Sirimaharaj, both also at CMU.

Thank you. For now I've decided that dr anan is doing such a good job I don't want to upset him or anyone else especially since I have confidence in him. I was just thinking it's such a large wound it warrants a second opinion.

I asked for a second opinion on something else and it was kind of a big deal although in that case I did it because I didn't believe the dr had reviewed my case at all before giving his opinion.

  2. I'm currently in Bangkok chiang Mai hospital which doesn't have a plastic surgery department.

They've called in Dr Annan who teaches at chiang Mai university and seems very competent but as this is a serious injury I'm just wondering if I have options for having another set of eyes on the problem.

So far he's operated to clean up the wound and is cleaning it daily while we wait for it to heal and be sure it's infection free before closing it with a skin graft.

  3. Whether you will be able to extend you last non-b visa entry based upon retirement will depend upon your local immigration office's policy. Some will do it while others will not. You need to check with them about doing it. I they will not do it you will need to get a non-o visa.

You can get another 90 day entry as long as you do an entry on or before the enter before date on your visa. You can get a re-entry permit for that last entry to keep it valid if you need to travel.

Do you know if Bangkok will allow it?

And are you saying there's no problem re-entering on a re entry permit while the visa is still valid and. It NOT changing the date I am allowed to stay?

I do not want to re enter after the visa expires but before it expires. I don't want my last trip to change the date of the 90 days I can stay.

    Thanks

There have been reports of Bangkok refusing to do an extension based upon retirement with a non-b visa entry. You will likely have to go out for a single entry non-o visa or just leave and re-enter the country after you visa expires to get a visa exempt entry and do a conversion to a non immigration visa within 15 days of entry.

You could get and use a re-entry permit before the visa expires.

Thanks for letting me know. In this case I'll either leave it for later or see if I can do it in Chiang Mai as I spend time there too.

  5. My multi entry 1 year business visa (no work permit) expires early September and I am turning 50 late September so want to do an extension of stay based on retirement around October 1st

So I need to re-enter Thailand on about August 1st so that I'll have 30 days left on October 1st to get my retirement extension.

But I will need to leave thailand again in August and be returning before the visa expires.

Will I be able to use a re entry permit when my visa is still valid?

I must do my retirement extension early October so can't afford to restart the 90 days when I come back mid late August.

  6. Guarantee only good in the country it was bought in.

Warranty is worldwide at official Apple stores. In Thailand there are only authorized resellers for now so they only accept warranty repairs for iPhones bought in Thailand.

So if you buy it here it's covered here and any official Apple Store in the world eg usa, uk, hk, sg, ...

You are so hopelessly wrong. Taken from Apple website:

Important Restriction For I Phone and I Pad.

Apple may restrict warranty service for I Phone and I Pad to the country where Apple or its authorized distributors originally sold the device.

    I stand corrected.

I'm surprised their servicing of iPhones isn't better.

  8. Help please! Good luggage solution for the motard??

    I bought the Kriega bags - a 30L and a 10L. Three problems:

(1)t he securing loops on the seat of the motard for securing bags don't work that well. No matter what the bags don't seem too secure.

    (2) Hard to get on and off the bike with the 10L on top of the 30L and because of (1) hard to secure the 10 to the side

    (3) 30 + 10 not really as rooms as my 40L north face bag.

I'm thinking of giving up and buying the (ugly) grab handles from the strada so I can use my north face or givi bag :(

Utility over beauty or is there another way? (I've thought about making the 10 a tank bag but still the 30 isn't that secure and 30+10 doesn't give enough space for month+ long touring for this pack rat).

    Help!

ps I got my plates and book a while ago

  9. Anyone fit a luggage rack to the motard? It won't do anything for the beauty of the bike but will be very practical. As it stands I can strap only a very small bag to the back of the bike.

Unfortunately both the ducati luggage rack and passenger grab handles (which are needed to install the rack) have to be ordered from Italy and will take 2 months if ordered through ducati. I see www.pure-ducati.com delivers to Thailand and with USPS shipping will be $332 (about 11,000 baht). Any one order from them yet?

On another note, I bought the windscreen from ducati and it works pretty well. It's rather thin but pretty high. Higher than the one on the strada.

Can you post a pic of the screen? I didn't want to get the "touring windscreen" as I was concerned about the looks. The OEM windscreen from the Hyperstrada plus a few pieces to mount it can be ordered through Ducati though it's a little more expensive than the touring windscreen - about 9k baht. I ordered it but hasn't arrived yet... and no one knows when it will...

I couldn't do a luggage rack, that would kill the looks, but thinking about a tank bag and maybe a kriega tail pack for touring.

I also need a rear tire hugger, need to research that. As it is this is a fair weather bike; I hit some very small puddles yesterday and there's dirt all over the back... price to pay for that very nice exposed rear tire.

Looks like the luggage rack requires installing the rear grab handles and side bag rack of the strada which I definitely don't want - that really would ruin the looks.

Where can one buy the kriega bags other than panda rider which lists only up to the 20l on its website?

  11. It's the best bike ever; I love mine!!

But, I did have the over fueling problem. Not at the pump, where I didn't overfill it I don't think, but afterwards I went to grab a bite to eat and parked it on an incline in front of the restaurant.

After lunch I rocked back up to my brand new Ducati, turned the key and pressed the starter ready to impress the restaurant staff ,half of whom were outside admiring it, only to find it wouldn't start sad.png

After rolling it onto level ground and letting it sit for a few minutes, it finally started. There was a bit of gas leakage under the bike. So not only don't overfill it but be careful when it's full not to park on a hill.

  12. The insurer as quoted me was thaisri.

At the dealer their brochure of accessories showed both a touring seat and a lower seat. Not sure which one is on the hyperstrada??

Was tempted to buy the passenger grab rails mainly to secure my overnight bag but looks like it will ruin the sleek look of the bikes rear.

Sent from my HTC One using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

  13. Thanks again Sheryl. I definitely don't need to be any whiter, I don't think :)

While doing research online I came across this site http://www.onlinedermclinic.com/ . They're a US dermatology practice that does online consultations. You send them photos. They may be more honest as they presumably know they won't be doing the procedures themselves??

Any one try something like this or have direct experience?

Just found this one in the UK: http://www.onlineskinspecialist.com/consultant-dermatologist

  14. Is Dr. Wichai Hongcharu at St. Louis Hospital still the best doctor to see? Or is there someone at Bangkok Hospital or BNH or Bumrungrad or Bangkok Pattaya Hospital?

I want to reduce wrinkles and maybe rejuvenate my skin a bit. I'm a 50 year old male.

Since I'm rather new to this, I'd prefer a Doctor who won't just try to sell my on his/her specialty.
