Hello,
I'm looking for help on how to get a British passport for my grand daughter. My daughter was born in Thailand and has her birth registered at the British embassy and has a British passport and birth certficate.
Can she apply for a British passport for her daughter at the embassy as a British citizen?
Thank you

Thanks Joe
Yes I'm registered and have started non imm o applications on the site before..
anyway will see if the STV comes up later.

I was looking on the http://www.thaievisa.go.th/ site this morning as I am hoping to go through the whole process
I would normally apply for an non imm O visa but the only option available as of this morning is a 60 day tourist visa, no STV etc??

You will need the original birth certificate in Savnakhet but a copy in Penang is OK but I think it will be at the discretion of the consulate to accept the name change documents etc. If you are named as the father on the original birth certificate that helps. The house book should also have been changed when they changed their names.
I made several multi entry non o in Penang based on being the father of a Thai child, the last time he warned me to get an extension of stay at local immigration in Thailand
I recently enquired to the London consulate about getting a single entry non o, they said they couldn't give me one as I don't have the court order saying I am the sole guardian of my children even though they have Thai and UK birth certificates and passports....the joys

Hello,
If I apply for a single entry non O based on being the father of Thai child in Penang do I have to have any proof of funds?
Is it possible to get the single entry in HCMC? I know they give them for being married to a Thai. Would much prefer to go to HCMC than Penang
I can then get a 1 year extension in Thailand
I have all the required paperwork
Thank you

Had to do a visa run so chose the ever great Siem Reap.....finished the 'big tour' temple jaunt on a bicycle - 27km of fun with an Angkor beer watching the sunset at Angkor - how good is that!
Return journey - Siem reap town to airport - 10 mins, check in 1 min, 50 min flight, immigration Q Bangkok....1 minute!
Go to bell travel bus counter for Hua Hin bus, am early so standby for 11 30 bus, lucky can get on it, Hua Hin queue full of polite Thai, Chinese, Russian, Europeans patiently waiting...
Pattaya queue like a scrum full of impolite Russian and Europeans....say no more.

Nobody has asked how old you are....if 50 or over you can change your visa to a retirement visa when in Thailand, this way you will only have to report to immigration every 90 days and never leave the Kingdom, easy to find what is needed by searching the forum....
good luck with your move, you will definitely need it (without going off topic) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many Thai girls angrily reported being scammed by a local agency offering work in the middle east.....They thought they were to provide regular Thai style massage services but upon arrival learned they could only provide normal massage; no happy endings or premium extras,,,,

Does anyone know if Jim is still doing visas in Penang? Last time I checked the best places to get help were through Jim or Banana, still valid? Thanks!
Cheers, Robaht
Yes they still do it (Jim and Banana) but I can see no point in not going yourself, it kills time and you know for sure if you are going to get the visa once you pay the fee, just be there by 8:15am and 1 30pm the next day to avoid queues. Also best to print off the application form first so not to waste time filling it in there.

I renewed my non O ME last week in Penang. All the above is correct re paperwork, id. card mother, 400K proof, house book copies, birth certs, all signed by the mother. I also give a copy of the divorce agreement and pics of me and my kids in the house and outside, the consulate guy said they like that extra stuff!

I just got my 2nd 1 year ME O based on thai children from Penang. Usual paperwork plus proof of 400K. Last year was my first application and they gave me a ME. This time he did say that I should be doing yearly extensions. That would certainly beat the hassle and heat of travel to penang. It was pretty busy, they did over 110 visas that day.

I did the run there in december, it was 960 baht,.
There was a story in the press about the border there being closed a couple of weeks ago due to possible clashes with Burmese insurgents, dont know if this happened or if now open.

With the current strong NE to SW winds and waves the hua hin pattaya leg will take 5 hours and the return leg about 30 minutes!

Can you also list from your friend all of the requirements? What did they request or look over?
5 hours ago, pistachios said:I went to HCMC a few years ago to get an ED visa and my application was rejected because I wasn't a local resident. Tourists passing by could only get a tourist visa. It seems like they changed their policy but I'm not sure to go there again until more positive reports are posted.
He only had to show marriage certificate but also showed kids birth certs and house book,
He works offshore in Vung Tau so has a Vietnam work visa, this may have been why he was given the visa.....

Hello,
last year I made a 1 year non imm O based on being the parent of a Thai Child in Peneng.
This year I am thinking of HCMC. I know they give multi O for Thai wife (friend got one last week) but has anybody had a 1 year based on Thai Child?
HCMC is much easier to get to, cheaper and far quieter at the consulate!
Thanks

Will they be able to afford the ferry fare? Keep in mind that these are people who chase all you can eat 99 baht buffets. They also chase questionably legal sex trade workers in Boyztown and on walking street. They are in for a shock in Hua Hin; no visible transvestite hookers, no boiler rooms to work in, no hairless boys and girls to molest, no chain smokers with guts and yellowed false teeth like them, no one wearing thongs or wife beater singlets etc. The chavs, yobs, slobs and mental cripples will feel as out of place in Hua Hina as they did back in their school days when no one wanted anything to do with them and girls laughed at them.
You obviously dont frequent soi 80!!!!!!

I regularly had my 2 kids 2 nieces and 1 nephew on the 125 for the school run. Once we ran out of petrol and had to get off, it took ages to all get back into position again. Thankfully they are all now grown up and ride their own bikes to school.

Thanks Joe.
