  1. Could you please keep us updated on the Weekender situation . You can tell them another "friend" wants to come in mid February.!

The Weekender situation is that there is no sale. Sales and promotions are effective in May to June.

So I guess it's full rates.

Still deciding either Chaweng or Lamai, still got a couple of days to decide.

  2. Not sure about motorcycle prices, but have seen many renting shops in the Chalong area. The advantage of Chalong is the ease of getting to other parts of the island, particularly if you're close to the Chalong Circle (5 road roundabout, heading to Rawai, Kata/Karon, Phuket Town, Chalong Pier, and the bypass road which takes you to major shopping centres such as Central Festival, Big C, Tesco Lotus etc. All of these in 10 minutes or so. The area around Chalong circle is also good for a variety of shops and restaurants.

Many fine, quieter beaches in the north of the island, but these are disadvantaged by their relative remoteness and lack of amenities. Still worth a visit though, as you can reach anywhere in Phuket in an hour, and for the best part, there are good sign posts offering directions.

Unless you're coming on a flight/hotel package, my recommendation would be to book only 2 nights accommodation initially, then use that time to decide which location you prefer, and negotiate a good rate for accommodation, you should be able to get a good deal that way, as virtually all hotels and resorts are suffering from lack of bookings at the moment.

    Thanks alot for the advice.

I heard that even though the hotels and resorts are suffering from a lack of bookings, they arent willing to put the prices down.

  3. Hi,

Wandering if anyone knows any good tailors for men's suits and women dresses in Phuket. Plan to tailor some clothes, but have been warned that some places are rip-offs or do dodgy business.

    Any recommendations please?

    Thanks

  4. Cheers.

Looking at the internet prices, no mention of 50% off.

Where can I contact or book at the special discount rates.

best to send them an email and mentioned a ' Friend ' saw the 50 % sign off at the front of the hotel and say you would like that rate :o

    Thanks

Nope. No sale on at the moment.

    But looks alright not bad.

    Tango Resort

    Corto Maltese

    OP Bungalows...

    Chaweng sth.:

    Samui Lagoon Bay

    Baan Talay Resort

southern most - bit off ... but nice:

    Sea Side Bungalow

    Lamai: ?

The ones suggested looked pretty nice, will look further into it.

My wife however likes The Chaweng Garnden Beach Resort, Or the Weekender Resort and Spa (on Lamai) are these any good? Close to shops and beach.

  6. Hi Ping,

Not sure where I am going to stay in Phuket, so asking advice from people. Never been to Phuket, so would like advice and recommendations.

But 'preferably 3 star+, with a budget of 1500 - 2500THB. Length of stay 10 nights, and preferably close to cheap clothing markets, where I wont get ripped off. Also nice food where there is nice food :D

The beach maybe within close walkin distance, but not too important.'

Leaning towards Kata or Karon, as Patong has rip-off markets as I've heard.

    Any recommendation

    Cheers

:o:D:D Now your asking a bit much

    Well, thats my ideal location.

But anything close to that would be good :D

  8. From what the OP asks, I think he may find Chalong a little too quiet. Kata or Karon may be more to his taste, or perhaps Patong off Nanai. As to places to stay, it depends upon your needs. An abundance of places to be found by googling. If you want specific recommendations, tell us what sort of accom you want, your price range and your length of stay.

Preferably 3 star+, with a budget of 1500 - 2500THB. Length of stay 10 nights, and preferably close to cheap clothing markets, where I wont get ripped off. Also nice food where there is nice food :o

  9. Hi,

Wheres the best place for accomodation which is relatively next to or close within a few minuties walking distance to Lonely beach? Budget anywhere between 1500 - 2500 THB.

Also where's the best place for elephant trekking on Koh Chang? Also how much for the average trek?

    Cheers

  10. Hi,

Would like to get some advice from people on where the best place to stay in Koh Samui, for holiday.

Would prefer somewhere close to good cheap markets, shops, nice beach, and food. Night life quiet not too busy, or too many parties.

    Thanks in advance

    Bangrak or Bophut

Boput yes, maybe, but Ban Rak? Along that busy Road?

    South Chaweng - YES!

    Mae Nam - Bophut

    Lamai - southern End

Depends on quite a few things one may want or not... budget?

South Chaweng is good, Or Lamai?

  11. A new gym opened in my town this week. I went tonight to a kick boxing class there. It turned out there was an instructor and one other customer. This was fine, but they wanted 1050 Baht for two hours, one hour of which I spent sat down doing nothing as the other guy was being instructed. The time I did do something was spent kicking the one heavy bag they had and the pads. This seems a little steep to me. What is the going rate for a couple of hours one to one? The instructors English was very bad and my Thai worse which made it very difficult. Should I look elsewhere?

    Where are you?

It sounds very steep to me. If you are in Bangkok (or Pattaya) you could go to Fairtex camp and get a really well structured programme and work with excellent trainers for less than that.

How much do the trainers at Fairtex Pattaya charge?
