I'd just pack it in my checked bag. I've brought back a few, small pipes, 510 batteries, etc. from the U.S. Have not been caught.

How long are you in Thailand for? If longer term just buy a dry-herb vape here, widely available but price is marked up quite a bit.

A Taiwanese actress got caught in country with a ecig vape. She had a bit of hassle. Paid a "fine" of 27,000 THB.

Usually at clubs Thai's aren't hassled by the police for vapes.

I understand that I should not pack anything with lithium batteries in checked bags - fire.  Don’t want to draw attention to anything.  I’ve never really worried about carry-on bags, but Thailands strong anti vape stance appears to extend to dry vapes the same as tobacco juice.
I’m in and out of Thailand several times a year, but will likely retire there soon. Current cannabis laws led to my question about vaporizers as I prefer that for health reasons. No interest in ecig tobacco vapes.  Seems prices for legit dry herb vapes are about double what I can get in the US.  Probably I’ll roll um until I bite the bullet for a Thai sourced vaporizer

  2. There are a lot of opinions and interpretations here of the legality of carrying dry herb vaporizers into Thailand (Pax, Crafty, Mighty etc).  Most are leaning towards it being illegal under customs laws.  I very rarely have any bag inspected on entry, so I think the risk of discovery is very low.   Does anyone have any actual experience getting ‘caught’ bringing one in and what were the consequences?

This is what some people have been saying since Earth Day in 1970.  Wind, solar, and geothermal power will never be able to supply the ever increasing power demand realistically though.  Here in Thailand the burning of sugar cane fields and rice fields can be stopped, but would take a huge labor force and monetary input from government, subsidies for non-burning would be my suggestion.  Farmers would have to remove and transport the sugar cane while "green".  The rice straw and corn stalks would have to be removed manually, transported and mulched.  The green method of harvesting sugar cane has been successful in BrazI

Skallywag, I agree we need ‘alll of the above’ approach.  Wind and solar are doing great in parts of Europe and USA. Both should work better in Thailand.  Govt needs to seriously criminalize burning and help farmers monetarily with alternatives

The problem with this virus is that we don't really know yet. So perhaps we are overreacting ,

So true.  China is SO forthcoming with their reporting and Thailand almost as equally un-forthcoming, we really don’t know.  We do know, though, that the air we have to breath in Thailand is not good right now and will shorten our lives.

Exactly ! That we have been told about. You think they will encourage more tourists by declaring it ?

Some of my family support one side and most support the other, but they all agree on one thing, the TOTAL mistrust of the Gov’t and anything they say.

Though I agree that pollution is a big problem with existential elements.

Pollution is localized and not contagious (not self replicating), where the virus has the potential to infect all humanity.

Agree, pandemic is scary, but this one is not very deadly 2-3% mortality.  A truly lethal pandemic would be scary and I’d hope the Thai gov’t would act swiftly to close the borders and protect the citizens (and visitors????) influenza, dengue, and malaria hurt many more healthy people than the current corona virus.

  7. Laugh or cry?  Should be newsworthy as it is a serious health an economic emergency, but same bs gets old and boring to the public even though the problem is acceleratingly worse.  Pathetic leadership is absolutely disgusting in their response (actually, lack of response).  These are not ‘acts of god’ that are outside of our control. Strong direction from the top would solve the problem, so.....i guess I just cry.

  8. Where to start... First thaiwest, I've never felt an earthquacke either, so they must not exist. And Texas is a pretty big state too. Impulse, the New Madrid and San Andreas, luckily are not near fracking sites so they don't get the 'benefit' of small prepatory quakes. Lucky Pennsilvania, West Virginia, and New York State are near where a lot of fracking goes on so they do get a lot of 'helpful?' fracking quakes as well as mud slides and horribly polluted ground water. Lots of fresh water is wasted pumping into these wells and gets mixed with chemicals which make the left over water toxic which then mixes with the nearby DRINKING water to, enhance the flavor? I like my oil and gas, but there has to be some boundaries!

  9. When first coming here I avoided 7-11s like the plague cuz they represented western culture at its worst, BUT I soon learned they are different in Thailand. Not overpriced like in the US or stocking garbage I'd only eat after a long night bender. They're actually great convenience stores here, but have never thought of hanging out there, or can even imagine why one would want to. Now, I have hung out at neighborhood mom & pop convenience stores here to chat with the workers or owners, but that's different... I hope.

  10. Even assuming, ah em, that they really do deliver a million tablets on time, does this mean that next years fresh crop of students will also get their million tablets, then next year again etc etc etc.

Then, assuming cheap devices need new batteries every 1 to 2 years and hardware enhancement progresses at the same pace as the last decade, it would seem that at least every two years the students will need to upgrade to new units.

So if all goes according to plan, it sounds like a very lucrative deal for someone. Lucky the Thai Gov't is flush with cash.

  11. Give her a break. It was welcome, but mispronounced. This forum has many threads poking fun at Thai mispronounciations. Also, EVERYONE knows she's in way over her head and shouldn't be in the position in the first place. Public speaking is obviously difficult for her and her brother should be blamed for putting her in position for her painful attempts to explain things that she has no apparent expertise or knowledge about. Lastly, 'english' in Kentucky is very different than normal english and could explain ...something?

  12. Definitely a river. Dirty, but most urban rivers are. It seems every middle aged Thai I know in Bangkok claims to have swam in the Chao Phrya when they

were young. Don't know how many are telling the truth, but they ain't touching it these days. (well I guess everyone will be touching it next week :( )

  13. United, many times, thumbs up , always.

Was I just being lucky? No, do not think so.

Great service all the way through. I''m a big dude and if there's an emergency row seat,

they hand it over to me. Or ailse seat. What else? The food and service is thumbs up as well.

As soon as I get aboard, I'll ask for a small bottle of wine and am knocked out for the entire flight.

I go to the back and they produced a meal for me on the spot.

Hey, would any of us care to work as a flight attendant? When I witness a Untied Crew, they are hustling.

Seriously? I've flown United and American many many times and have never gotten as lucky as you. The international routes are in some ways the worst for service as the flight attendants are the most senior (and I do mean senior) and are usually rude and lazy. The food is awful; my wife brings cup o noodles and adds hot water IF the flight attendant will bring it to her. Asian carriers are in a different league and I fly them when I can, but often the US carriers are significantly cheaper or coincide with mileage plans I have.

I haven't had any mechanical issues on the planes that I remember, just service problems. Also its noteworthy that the crews working the Asian legs on American & United routes are usually Asian and much better.

  14. Does any Swede or other know what type of tabloid Aftonbladet is? In the states we have several 'sensational' tabloids such as the National Enquirer that make their living publishing outlandish stories designed to get the reaction most of the posters have been feeling. The stories usually contain only a small piece of truth or no truth at all and embelish the rest. The parties involved in the story are often paid unlike normal news organizations. Is Aftonbladet a decent news source or something else?
