I will be arriving in Thailand during Songkran and wanted to go up to Chang Mai immediately. on a travelers site most of the advice I received was NOT to go to Chang Mai for that holiday as it gets really overwhelming - and that you can't escape the water throwing anywhere in the city. I would like to be there for the local holiday but would love any other opinions....

great idea about the university - thanks! Yes, I am convinced that traditional medicine works! I've had experiences with other types (not Thai, though) myself. I hope your family members find another practitioner that can be of help to them.

Planning on arriving Bangkok April 13th - which is first day of Songkran. Will trains be running? Can I count on the schedule on the thairail website or is there a place that I can find out about holiday train schedules? will it be possible to change money when I arrive? if no trains running - other modes of transportation recommended to Chang Mai on that day?

Hi! I will be traveling to Thailand and would like to have the opportunity to learn more about traditional medical practices while there- and would be appreciative of any information regarding traditional medicine practitioners - preferably with as little interaction as possible with newer western methods. I presently know NOTHING about traditional thai medicine - and would be interested to hear how it is similar/different to chinese medicine.

I am planning a trip to SE Asia (American citizen - 39 years old) I am planning on being in Thailand for less than thirty days - leaving and coming back again (after the thirty days are over) do I need to get a visa or do I have a new 30 day free entry without a visa every time I enter?
