  1. check your house ! Mother ticks hide in furniture, carpets, curtains.....almost in everything.

very easy to get your house infested by hundreds of ticks. They survive very long and come out of hiding once a host (dog) is nearby.

Very hard to get rid of them. Termite, Insect Spray does not help. At the Vet you can buy special liquid (poison) mix with your washwater and clean the house.

I had 5 dogs in my house - from small to german sheppard and know what I am talking about. Good Luck !

stupid article and it does say much

food, housing , entertainment,  health care and some travel.

it does not amount to $70k per month.  the cost of living in thailand is around  $3k per month for a nice life.

people choses other countries to retire because they are cheaper than their own country.

i do not know what kind of bufallo stuff they were smoking to write such a stupid article.

Best reply so far ! . Living and working in TH for over 20 Years and $3K/month would be my number for a single guy in Thailand living with western standards and having some decent time out during the week. Traveling, Entertainment, health care do the thing. If you (she) plan to have more kid(s) in your 60's with a GF half the age....add another $1K/month for a decent lifestyle and education over the next 20 Years.

At the end, it depends how you want to live, set your standards. The mentioned 70K, in my case, are gone for the basics already.

I got friends living under 20K per month - do I want this lifestyle ? No

I got friends living over 200K p month - do I need this lifestyle ? No

As said, it is up to your standards. The standards YOU set, not a reporter.

For me it is an easy questions / answer, the minimum lifestyle I would have in my home country plus the benefits, perks of living in a foreign country. And I refuse to live on noodle soup and leo beer, driving a Honda Dream.

Long enough here to see more guys leaving then coming. The dream of living here a quality life is much more expensive than most think.

  3. ask yourself if you would work in your home country for 65K ?

if not - do not do it here !

saving money to send home on 65k/month ? good luck !

if you want to keep your standards, life is expensive in TH too.

advices like live more Thai-style, no alcohol, take the bus, eat noodle soup ! why moving to TH ?

yes, most Thai live on less than that but do not compare yourself with the farmers up north and their lifestyle.

Not difficult to find Thais earning 65k and more with all the benefits coming with that kind of money.

as a foreign engineer of any kind you should get 100k at least ! or 65k + living + transportation + + +

    good luck

  4. Cut the losses and move on. There is no such thing, living with in-laws in a house thats not even yours.

I live since 17 years here. Married, kids, houses and land.

BUT IN-LAWS 1100km away ! By recommandation of my wife as she knows the closer you are, the more you are attached the more responsability you get (money).

They run their life - we ours ! Happy.

once a while a visit, pay diner, thats it.

and we keep it that way.

    Your loan story...bypass the father...bullsh..

    a bank gives a loan

ONLY to the person named on the title deed !

If this person not come and sign - no money !

As the land is not in your wifes name, happy fighting with the rest of the clan when daddy passes away.

You really think after you started to get serious they give in ?

For now maybe, to secure the atm.

not long and you are back to zero...but with a potential 1.0 mio money spent on THEIR house.

If the father really want your wife to own it, why not transfer to her while alive ?

    Its easy !

They are fooling you - all the way !

Move on or lose everything there.

    Good luck.

  5. Don't ever try to take a taxi from Mo Chit to the airport, the tossers there will try to get 400 or 500 from you....

when walking down from BTS Mo Chit to the street , never ! ask the Taxi guys waiting under / along the Bridge . Rip OFF ! No Meter.

walk towards the parked Minibuses, stand on the street and get a passing-by Taxi. No problem to get one.

Never had any discussion about Meter on or not. Fare to the Airport is 110 Baht plus 60 baht Tollway if u in a hurry.

  6. I am always in Row 1 or 2. out very quick. The circus behind me is unbelievable.

I tried all available flights, different times, to avoid all of this but it seems to me that friday night is peek time for Chinese travelling to Phuket.

I learned to live with it. In first - out first, book premium. But feel sorry for any other tourists among them.

what still amazes me is their total disregard when addressing them. A friendly "excuse me sir..." and they look at you, if at all, like seen Godzilla on a plane and keep doing whatever they just do.

whoever thinks I exaggerate the events is welcome to join me - any friday night BKK-HKT !

    Cheers

  7. living in Phuket and working in Bangkok I am on weekly flights in/out. Tuesday in, Friday out.

Friday evening flights to Phuket are packed with chinese tourists. Most with Air Asia.

If the work week not kills me, the nights out fail to do too, the chinese may succeed.

Boarding ! : coming close to boarding time ( no announcement made yet, most people just sit and wait ) hoards of chinese rush to the counter waving their boarding passes. Airline staff must explain ( hard to do if one only understand chinese ) to sit down and wait for announcement.

actual boarding: announcement is made and in case of air asia premium seat bookings are asked to board first. The Chinese, all of them, ( non of them got premium seat ) rush to counter try to board immediately. Pushed back by staff until announcement is made for "regular" bookings.

even though it is written on your boarding pass to show ID/passport once boarding, the majority of chinese guest search for their passports on the spot !

on board ! ( I am always in first and watch the show - every week ! ). Your seat number is clearly visible printed on your boarding pass. Having the boarding pass for almost 2 hours in their hands, checking the seat number is for chinese a task to do INSIDE the plane...AFTER they walked the entire length of the plane at least once !

All you can here during this process is noisy chinese having fun boarding and stressed airline staff calling for "Sit down, Sit down please - take your seats " !

totally disregarding other passengers and their efforts to get to the assigned seating. Chinese stand in the aisle for chats !

Once they finally seated they find out that their neighbor ( it is an 1.20hr. flight ) is not the guy they like to chat with and start to re-arrange seating. guy from row 7 to row 55, woman from 62 to 13...from left to right, always with hand luggage ( they got a lot ) moving too.

Forget to try to sleep for an hour or so. It's like they just see each other for the first time in 50 years - lots to share and laugh about. And if your friend sits 20 rows behind you - for chinese no problem to include him.

Remember ! I do this every week ! It is not a one time event.

And I've seen all. Spitting, trash on the floor, all kind of foods exchanging from row to row.

Once a mother let her Son ( must be about 10-12 years old ) piss in a empty water bottle while seated.

arriving destination, landing, touch down. The moment nose is down, plane still rolling you can hear the klick klick, seat belts open, getting up, open storage, taking hand luggage out.

stressed Airline Staff announcement " please keep seated, fasten seat belts"

  8. if you move your pig to the horse stable and let it live there for many years. Does it become a horse ?

......... Get over it - it's just not going to happen!

Sorry, I just don't get it. If you're going to quote me, kindly use the whole quote and make your reply intelligible.

it's metaphorical ! use it the way you wish. It always fits.

  9. 1zgarz5.gif.pagespeed.ce.GJfs_tQOQ-.gif "Bogdan Rejic" isn't a German name. It is not a real German.

    Here we go again.

It's probably a Serbian name, but let's just imagine his Serbian (Yugoslav) father may have moved to Germany after WWar II and met a nice little blond German fraulein and married her and little Bogdan was born in Munich.

I would say that makes him a German wouldn't you?

Germany has long been a haven for immigrants.

Totally off topic re the nationality of the scammer, BUT, if the pig's name was Napoleon and the horse was called Boxer, it is possible Boxer could be made to think he was a pig?rolleyes.gif

moving Boxer to the piggery for a couple of days will certainly straight him up - and if not........well, his best use may than be some sweet taste cutlet. thumbsup.gif

Junior Boss , Khun Gai, speaks perfect english. not the cheapest but good. They got customers coming from bangkok to repair Ferraris, Benz, BMW.

  13. Price on 1UZ and 1UZ VVTI? Would appreciate it, thanks.

22.000 - max. 30.000 Baht depend on condition, look.

Prices are the same in any chiang kong area. No "Farang-cheating" there. They wonna sell their parts and the areas are full of it.

    I

  14. Regardless they haven't had generators in cars for 50 years.. It's only right in the interest of accuracy to use proper, current terminology.

I knew that was coming up as I myself wasn't sure about the right word but to lazy to google it and quiet sure that everybody knows what I meant.

I apologize for not using the right term, apologize for my lack of english language. My english is as bad as my Thai and french but writing in my german mother language would on one hand guarantee the perfect terminology but reach less readers.

as for the ban on imported used engine parts. There is more than 1 way around, Just came back from Chiang Kong bang na. Spent a few days in the area and containers with engines and parts arriving daily in big numbers.

Found a 560 Benz engine for fair money and at least 100 1UZ and 1UZ VV-Ti's for peanuts.

    Prost...

    Cheers

  15. I sold recently vehicles to Nong Kai and Pattaya. Transfer there went smooth without Sellers letter of residency.

Bought last week a CBR from foreigner and transferred here in Phuket without having sellers L.o.R.

Actually never had a problem for the last 15 Years and always doing the same procedure with the same set of documents.

But TiT ! Never know what the guy/girl behind the desk is up to. Not hurt to check.

If your ex is the type of girl that salutes and stood still to the uniformed postman or you speak no or limited Thai I suggest you ( OP ) send a thai middleman to do the transfer / check the paperwork. Every city got these guys doing the paperwork, running to government offices for a few baht. Usually the car/bike dealers got them on hand. For Bangkok, Phuket I got their numbers. Udon ? must ask.

No need for buyer and/or seller to show up. Set of power of attorney forms will do it.

just my experience ! others may have different ones.

  16. the axle with the /65 would be 1 cm higher than the /60 ! So to speak you get a 1 cm lift ! ( 215 x 60% = 12,9cm . 215 x 65% = 14 cm )

technically your car will also be faster with the "bigger" tire but slower in acceleration.

But you won't really feel it as the difference is to small.

As for the different profiles. as long both are the same type of profile ( off road , on road, rain, all terrain etc. ) I wouldn't mind to much but always prefer same profile on all 4 tires.

If you go ahead, put them on the rear. guess the car looks funny if the front is a bit higher than the rear.

I would order the correct size and wait for.

or order 4 tires of the bigger size.
