Maybe we could find some long-term foreign resident willing to go on CNN and tell these volunteers to stick their charity 'where it hurts.'
Worked out really well last time.

I hope he considers it seriously.

Vern Unsworth was one of first foreigners on the scene, had mapped the cave previously and connected the Thai authorities with the British cave rescue organization, specifically requesting the divers who found and ultimately participated in the rescue, so kind of a key player and within his area of expertise to criticize Musk
Thank you. Of course I know that now...mainly because of this whole 'confrontation'.
Unsworth undoubtedly acted heroically and deserves praise, more praise than Musk surely.-

I'd still have internet...
Thanks to innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs.
The very same people who seem to offend so many, simply by being successful.
How sad the lives must be of people who look at success and feel only envy and disgust.
Would his submarine have worked? Probably not.
So they designed a second, which, in all fairness, might not have worked either.
Even when Musk was told they would likely not need anything from his team they still continued working, incase a future disaster might require something similar. Because that's what you do in a PR stunt instead of, you know, actually running one of the world's most advanced technology companies.
Was 'pedo' a cheap shot? Absolutely.
Though, 'shove it' wasn't exactly cricket either.
I don't have a dog in this fight.
Far as I'm concerned this is between those two men.
All I was saying is that you probably shouldn't pick an online media battle with a guy who buys pixels by the Exbibyte.

Well considering he was one of the guys that was taking the kids out through the waterlogged depths of the cave the Thai navy seals are probably thinking what an incredibly brave guy he is and would be taking an extremely dim view of your comments.
Which ones?

Never heard of Unsworth until his slam on Musk vaulted him to "Cave Rescue Hero" in the media.
Wonder how the Thai Navy Seals feel about that....
Sure hope that doesn't hurt Unsworth in his upcoming slander case against Musk.
Farang Retiree trying to explain to a Thai judge why he thought it was OK to tell the guy who builds the world's largest factories to "shove it" after he offered to help the Thai people.
I'm sure that will go well for him.
Indeed, 'pedo'-shaming (sic) is not classy move by Musk, but it checkmates Unsworth, whose best approach now is to fade humbly out of the suddenly intensified spotlight.
In 50 years this 'deleted tweet' will not even be a footnote in the biography of The Man Who Took Humanity To Mars. Which is - let us be honest - the real issue. "Those smarty pants elites! Let's take him down a notch! By gum, internal combustion was good enough for me! Hey you kids, get that rocket off my lawn!"

Methinks Mr. Musk is schooling Mr. Unsworth in the true nature of a "P.R. stunt".

Obamama was not even eligable yet. You have to be what, 6 months or 1 year as President to be eligable? he was not. And he still isn't a legal American. Opps...
Uh...you don't have to be president of the United States (or any country) to be 'eligable' (sic) for the Nobel Peace Prize.

You give him the wallet.
For this you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize???-

Inside a smoke-filled, glass box...in the sun...in 35° weather...what could possibly go wrong?

This is good news for Thailand.
Absolutely!
Higher taxes means higher prices.
Higher prices means fewer drinkers.
Fewer drinkers means fewer bars.
Fewer bars means fewer tourists.
Fewer tourists means fewer people to complain about higher prices.
It's a win-win!

This is what you get when you have a population of ostracized white males over 50 who move across the world based upon the price of beer and cigarettes.
Suddenly the new alcohol taxes start to make sense.

But sadly not shocking. Utterly predictable.I stand corrected.

The only thing shocking here is the amount of racism and homophobia alive and well in this forum.

In the video you can clearly see the solid double yellow line down the road - so both the bus and the lorry were passing other vehicles illegally.
Happens so often here, I'm not surprised in the least. -
-
There is nothing 'shocking' about this to anyone who's been in the country for over a month.
Having been here for 10+ years I would classify this more as 'typical'. -
Oh the irony!
"Foreigners giving their opinion about things they don't like about Thailand is a thing I don't like about Thailand." -
The only thing this will change is the price guides charge for a selfie with a giant clam.

Watch the video again.
See the white car? The one that almost causes a second accident?
It's off camera but it sure looks possible that the white car had already pulled out in front of the motorbike in preparation for a turn.
Of course we all know driver training is of such high quality in Samui there's no way somebody would cut off a motorbike in an attempt to make an illegal turn.
Nope, no way.
Wild speculative accusations can go both ways. -
Might as well ask, "Why are there so many fat people living near the chocolate factory?"

Koh Lanta
in Krabi
Posted
Lanta has a few large hardware and building suppliers, most notably in Saladan (near the bridge on the road to Old Town) and another in Khlong Kong (on the main road near the South end).
However if you are looking to avoid paying 'farang price' in addition to a 10% (or higher) 'island inflation' you're better off shopping in Krabi town.
