on the Australian Embassy Bangkok website:
For all Tourist visas (subclass 676) and Short Stay Business visas (subclass 456) lodged directly with the Australian Embassy Thailand by mail/courier, the departmental service standard is 1 month.
For all Tourist visas (subclass 676) and Short Stay Business visas (subclass 456) lodged through our Service Delivery Partner (VFS Global Australia- Thailand) the current service standard is 10 working days.

I agree with the mod.
Leave the op (thats you mik83) do what he wants. Its his life he just asked for some friendly advice not unfriendly opinions.
sheesh.
He has asked for advice and that has been what he has been given!!!
If he doesn't like what he is hearing he should refrain from seeking it. Should we lie and say "oh yes, she loves you and everything will work out fine"?
Sorry, the way that I see it is to 'say it as it is' - it might just save him a lot of heartache and although he might not appreciate it he may subconsciously take note and base his decision on what the forum has collectively offered up.
I don't understand this "leave him alone plea" and let him do what he wants to do as that IS exactly what is going to happen. I can't stop him seeing her or tell him to forget her, can I!!
Sorry, I don't agree with the mod or you on this!!
So you have meet her then. if not keep opinions about her to yourself. this forum is for visa's etc not personal opinions about people we don't know

Show them a return plane ticket for the both of you? Show them a contract proving that she will have a job in Pattaya when she gets back? Maybe you should get wed in Thailand if that's what you want, that would be additional proof that your relationship is serious. Maybe you get an ED visa so that you can learn Thai? Still no guarantee that you will be successful, many people are in the same boat and it generally becomes difficult with time, separation, sending money, getting (justifiably?) suspicious.
I must admit that I am a bit cynical about all this, but I do wish you the best of luck.
and getting married does not prove a relationship it just shows you are married nothing more dumb idea to marry in the hope it will change their minds or convince them they are not that stupid they have seen it all

he is a fast worker lol
good luck with this

dont lie about it thats the first thing to remember. she needs to show reason she will return eg family ties, land, house, work or anything that shows there is a reason to return.

I think this is well covered by now and very clear as to what the meaning really is. well I hope so

"David48
My experience, and the experience of many here is that Statutory Declarations contribute negligible weighting towards a Visa application."
this may be the case David but don't you agree that the more weight you can add to any application then it is well worth it?
cheers

I live in Phuket, forget the travel agent BS, pay attention to what you see here. For you dudes in BKK the Sukhumvit Soi Nana location is the place, many hotels and action. Then fly to Phuket, book the r/t flights in advance direct on internet at AirAsia, Nok Air or Thai-Orient; all pretty much the same but beware of AirAsia little add-ons. At Phuket airport get into a minibus for Patong (book hotel in advance; Yorkshire and C&N are good suggestions and right in middle of action). Avoid the tuk-tuk taxis and jet skis in Phuket, notorious problems and scams with them. Avoid renting motorbikes, very dangerous here and many of the renters are scam artists.
agreed good advice in this post
