  1. How to get there by SkyTrain or Subway?

From Mo-Chit Skytrain stations there are minivans going that direction

The answer to this is to not use the new immigration office, but instead use the "One stop shop" for 90 day notice, which is located close to Mo Chit station. Here is a map. It is meant for businessmen but can be used for anyone on a year visa of any kind.

So just to ram this home: if you use public transport (Skytrain and MRT) do not use the new immigration office, instead go to the "One stop shop" on themap above.

Also for endorsement/re-entry permit when you have permanent residency?

  2. Jakrapob says Abhisit lacks leadership

BANGKOK: -- Former PM's Office minister Jakrapob Penkain Saturday criticised Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva as lacking no leadership and was under influence of others.

Speaking to the demonstrators at the National Stadium, Jakrapob said when Abhisit looked at himself in a mirror, he did not see himself but he saw other persons instead.

Jakrapob said Abhisit sometimes saw Democrat secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban, sometimes Sondhi Limthongkul, a co-leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy, sometimes former army chief Gen Sonthi Boonyaratkul and sometimes Newin Chidchob.

"Abhisit has no identity in democracy so how could he be the prime minister under the democratic system?" Jakrapob said.

When Jakrapob looks at himself in the mirror: :o

  3. Bangkok business/leisure hotel, well established, centrally located with easy access to all modes of public transportation, is urgently looking for Human Resources Manager (M/F), responsible for all HR aspects of a workforce of approx. 130 persons. 3 years of experience in the field of HR and English language proficiency required. Thai national only.

  4. After speaking with, and rejecting several no-problem-mai-penrai-can-do people I think I now have found an architect and a contractor I can work with for the renovation of my house; time will tell. Nevertheless I would greatly appreciate any advise on how to limit the risk of unwelcome surprises when it comes to quality of work and materials, pricing etc. It's something to be aware of wherever you build a house but I assume a Thai situation has it's specifics. Any experiences?

  5. Looking for a housemaid; we are 2 adults (Foreigner + Thai), no children.

Regular duties, nothing exceptional. Good cooking skills (Thai food) would be a big plus.

    Excellent conditions/remuneration offered.

Pm with a telephone number or email address if you know somebody who might be interested.

  6. These days it doesn't matter where you are, you can trade any market. You don't have to only trade the SET because you live in Thailand.

For DayTraders, it might be useful to live in the same geographical region they trade. That's if they don't want to be called NightTraders :o

    ~G~,

Oooohhh well who's the picky one! ...not if you run an automated system! :D

Besides, daytrading is one of many timeframes aye!

    Cheers YBB

  7. Going into early retirement soon I'm considering spending my time on playing the stock market. I've been in LOS long enough to realize that making money on the SET is for the happy few (of insiders) only. Still curious to know if there are members with a different view and positive experience in investing individually or as a group.

  8. Text of the whole Bangkok Post article:

The Interior Ministry has toughened its criteria for foreigners who seek Thai nationality, but has yet to decide if the new rule should cover people who have already filed their petitions.

According to a source at the ministry the new rule requires a foreigner who wants Thai nationality to earn at least 80,000 bath a month and have paid personal income taxes for at least three years. The tax payment must amount to at least 100,000 baht a year.

A foreigner who has a Thai spouse must earn at least 30,000 baht a month and have paid personal income taxes for at least three years. The old rule required minimum income of 10,000 baht a month.

The source who asked not to be named said the new rule was aimed at preventing poor foreigners from simply seeking jobs in Thailand and then acquiring Thai nationality. It also intends to block transnational criminals who increasingly move to Thailand.

Recently the national police office asked if the new rule took effect on foreigners who had filed requests for Thai nationality.

The interior minister has not replied, but is probably waiting for a directive from the nationality committee that Interior Minister Wan Muhamad Nor Matha heads.

  9. Yesterday the Bangkok Post ran a small aricle about stricter criteria for foreigners who seek Thai nationality. The new rules "require an applicant to earn at least Baht 80,000 a month and have paid personal income taxes for at least three years. The tax payment must amount to at least Baht 100,000 a year".

Nothing is mentioned about a 10-years stay in Thailand with a residence permit in hand.

Are the criteria as reported by the newspaper indeed to obtain Thai nationality or is it Residency?
