  1. Very very sad for her children and family. It is horrendous how these men behave when a relationship ends. Sadly this happened at my local dentist just a mile or so from here. The lady dentist there is so very good, it has sent shock waves through our local community especially so soon after the politician shooting recently that was just down the road.

  2. I to have experienced buffering over the last few days I emailed and got the same message as others in this thread about the CDN. I also did the trace info for them. They did email me back this morning to ask me to check if things now work ok and I checked to find that everything is still buffering. It is as many say unusable at the moment and I'm using a VPN and iPlayer etc instead. Its a shame as I do think TVMucho is great when its working, and much easier than having to use multiple players along with their quirks.

  3. There seems very little detail in either of the emails I have received as to how this 'Later' cloud recording app is supposed to work. Will have to see from tomorrow I suppose, if you can't schedule recordings of future programmes it will be useless I fear. A real shame as like most people here I us the catchup 'Guide' to browse programmes from previous days for something to watch. My subscription expires next month, I probably won't renew.

  4. We had the 8 x 4m version of this Intex pool, used it for 5 years before the steel supports finally gave way. It was great to use, we now have a concrete in ground pool which is fantastic but still requires shading like the OP's in the hot season, we use 3 triangular sail shades which keeps the water a nice temperature. My Intex pool came with a sand filter and salt water chlorinator which was easy to use and kept the pool water clear and safe. I still have them if the OP or anyone else is interested as they are no use for a concrete pool. I also have a plastic pool ladder (imported from the States) for above ground pools as the original one it came with was of poor quality. Message me if you want anything.

  5. Had a pool here for around 7 years, always been a saltwater one, easy to maintain and so much nicer than adding chlorine. Pool salt is cheap, and I only ever need to top it up if there is very heavy rain. Use Cyanuric Acid to keep chlorine levels stable in the strong sunlight. My chlorinator is made by Intex and meant for an above ground pool, but works perfectly for an inground pool with a little adaption, these are much cheaper (around $120) but you would need to import from Amazon US. We built our pool ourselves (using local labour), there is plenty of info online, will save you hundreds of thousands Baht.

  6. We had an above ground Intex for 5 years, as Crossy says the legs are the issue, we repaired ours a couple of times but they collapsed in the end. Ours was 8m x 4m and was easy to look after, using the Intex saltwater system, would still recommend if you don't know how long you will be at a property or want to keep costs to the absolute minimum. We replaced ours last year with a concrete block pool also 8m x 4m fully tiled cost just over 300K to do, very pleased with it, still use the Intex saltwater chlorinator to keep it sanitised, very easy and cost effective.

  7. We have two Transcend DrivePro 200's, one for two years and no issues, got fed up with buying cheap ones. Already paid for itself after footage proved a scooter rider hit me and not the other way round. The Transcend is about 4,500 baht but has very clear pictures and works well at night also, even the suction pad works, available on Lazada.

  8. Following a visit to Nakhom Pathom Immigration last week to extend my visa I was informed that residents of Ratchaburi province would now be dealt with by a new office in Ratchaburi city. They gave me the attached flyer which is only in Thai and Burmese but does have a map. The office is not however up and running yet apparently and we were advised to call the number given before going. At present Ratchaburi residents are still being processed at Nakhom Pathom but in a separate room. They said they hoped the office would be ready next month (July).

From what I can see the office is about 1.2 km along Highway 3208 from the Huai Pai Junction on Highway 4 (Phetkaseam Rd), and close to the Ratchaburi Bus Terminal No. 2. I will update this post if I found out anymore.

  9. Recently my four year old MacBook Pro stopped starting up, after numerous tests I came to the conclusion that there was some sort of hardware issue. So I took it to our local Apple Authorised Service Centre here in Ratchaburi. As I had never taken out AppleCare on it it was long out of warranty but I asked them if they could check it out and give me a price. They told me they would have to send it to Bangkok and it could take up to two weeks, no problem I said. A week later they called to say that it was ready for collection, when I asked how much it would cost me they said, nothing all work was covered by Apple. It turned out they had replaced the whole motherboard with a new one, and it is now working perfect. I have been using Apple products for 25 years and they still keep surprising me with their service.

  10. My son's British passport is due to expire later this year so the fee reduction is good news. However this will be his first adult passport and on the passport office website they ask for proof of address. Has anyone any experience of what document I could use to proof his address here in Thailand, all I can think of is to get an English translation of our house registration document (he has dual nationality), which would mean a trip to Bangkok. If anyone has recent experience of this I would appreciate it.

  11. No I'm not selling it but thought you might be interested in my experience. I was lucky that my sister-in-law who lives in the States was shipping a container full of stuff to Thailand and she asked me if I needed anything so it didn't cost me anything to get it here. If I have needed spare parts she sends them to me which is useful because I am not sure if you can get spares here in Thailand.

Here are a couple of pictures of the pool.

  12. We have a an Intex Ultra Frame rectangular pool that is 24x12 feet and 52 inches deep, we have had it over two and a half years and it has been excellent. We bought it from Amazon in the US for about a third of the price they are here (around 50,000 baht) and it came complete with sand filter and salt water chlorinator.

It is easy to set up and very low maintenance, it requires no chemicals and just uses salt which we top up every so often. It came with pool vacuum which works well and the water is always clear and remains ph balanced. We set ours up on level ground over a thin layer of sand and good quality floor vinyl as an underlay.

We have had only minor faults with the pump/filter/chlorinator and these were easily and cheaply fixed, I would highly recommend it especially if you are not sure how long you will want a pool for.

  13. Since the app won't start without a network connection you can only play recordings whilst connected to the net sad.png

That's what I found out also, oh well, can't have it all.

Actually, not being able to play recordings when off network (like on a flight) could be seen as a serious issue.

I am using via Parallels on my iMac and it seems to work fine, after downloading I then play the program back and there is a small disc icon in the top left I click on this and it asks me where I would like to save the file. The resultant file is in MPEG format which I can then transfer to another device (like a media player) to use. The only issue is that along with the MPEG file it also creates a lot of smaller files (and I mean a lot) which I then have to bin, not sure what thats all about.

  14. Just a bit of technical info for you - the 'big white block' or 'super blocks' are in fact Autoclaved Aerated Lightweight Concrete Blocks they are made by several manufactures in Thailand and come in a variety of different thicknesses, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200mm but are all 600mm long x 200mm high. If you use them you must also use the correct mortar to lay them and the special render (plaster) to cover them.

We have used them on several build projects and they can help with solar gain as long as they are used with roof/ceiling insulation.

  15. Just returned from a 90 day report at Nakhon Pathom immigration, their normal office at Wat Rai Khing is flooded out and they have relocated temporarily to Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University. This is located on the Malai Man Road (Highway 321) close to Nakhon Pathom city, approx. 4km north of Phet Kasem Road (highway 4). The GPS co-ord's are 13.8372 N 100.0302 E.

The office is located on the ground floor of a building to the left of the main entrance, it is signposted, albeit in Thai, and there is ample car parking. Not sure how long they will be there so if you are due to go then you might want to call them on 0898 980830. Hope that is of help to some of you who usually use this office.
