  1. My daughter had the same condition. She is now 3 and is fine. It is very very important to find out as much information as you can to help you understand the treatment. I found this website very useful http://www.steps-charity.org.uk/links/4-15-developmental_dysplasia_of_the_hip_ddh.php

Early treatment is key with this condition and your daughter is the right age to avoid needing surgery, by using a harness to hold her hip in the correct position as the hip joint forms. An x ray is pointless at this age. Has she been seen by a specialist orthopedic pediatrician? You need to make sure you have the right diagnosis.

I am happy to answer any questions you might have..we are moving to Bangkok at the end of Feb and if you need any help or support with this let me know. It is really daunting at first but you will get through it and Im sure your daughter will be fine..mine is running jumping and having dance class!

    Good lucksmile.gif

  2. Thanks for that..I will wait till I get there. I buy online in the u.k but with the postal strike at the moment not sure I would get them in time.

do you get the eye test/contact fitting done at Tokyo optical blakegee? not sure I can find my prescription should have an eye test anyway its been awhile..

  3. Hi, can anyone tell me if contact lenses are cheaper or about the same price as the U.K? I have just run out of my monthly soft lenses and will be flying in next week. Should I order some here or just pick them up when I arrive? I could do with an eye test too..any recommendations?

    Thanks

  4. I am having some problems with a supplier and need to figure out the best way to handle this without offending or causing future problems. Trouble is the supplier is Japanese but has been living and doing business in Thailand for many years, this combination of cultures is new to me, I am British.

The order we placed is very late and I have been chasing it for sometime by email. So late in fact that I contacted the supplier to say not to ship the order as I was coming back to Thailand and would not be in the U.K to process the order. I was not canceling the order and made that clear but was making sure that it was not shipped at a time when I would not be in the U.K. She then called me to say the order had already been shipped on the 12th of July and was due to arrive 3rd of August. That would have been ok as I don't fly out until the 18th. She said the paperwork would be fed-exed to me within a few days, so I was happy with that.

After waiting for over a week I then contacted her again to ask where the papers are as I had not gotten them yet...got a strange email that I couldn't really understand..then waited and waited. Until Friday when she sent an email saying the papers would be with me Monday (3rd) the day she told me the ship was due in the U.K. Very last min and stressful.

So today the papers turn up as promised but the ship didnt leave on the 12th..it left the 25th!! so is not due until the 17th of August..I am really angry..its exactly what I had stressed to her that I didnt want to have happen. Now I dont know if its her fault or the shipping agent but its causing me a massive problem and I dont know how to approach her about this without causing a loss of face or making business in the future difficult? Any advice for me?? :)

  5. We ended up staying for 5 weeks and I have to say turned out to be the best place I have ever stayed in Bangkok. Staff are so kind..breakfast is very good.. cant say a bad word about the place..Never had any problems getting around town..would be fine for work in Sathorn..Just wish I could book in for a week as next trip I wont be staying in bkk for the whole time :) as far as I know the shortest you can book in for is 2 weeks..

  6. Hi,

Do any of you know this place the website looks great..and they have a good deal for the 2 bed apt which is just what we need for our month stay. I dont know this area at all though..and as we normally stay around Sukhumvit was wondering how long its likely to take to get to the sky train (chongnonsi) What is this area like? Shops/food?? Has anyone stayed at the Narathiwas? pros and cons?

    many thanks

  7. Hi do any of you know the Gardengrove suites? I have been searching for a review but cant find any at all.

I will be coming to Bangkok for about 5 weeks but will be going to Korea in the middle of this time so the monthly rentals are not looking the best price option.

This place is on latestays website for 2000bht a night and the website looks nice, but its odd that I cant find any reviews. Wouldnt be bothered but I am traveling with my 17 month old daughter so want a one bed suite with a washing machine..clean comfy space and need a pool..we stayed at Fraser suites on soi 11 last time and it was great but this trip is much longer and that is out of the budget..can anyone tell me what Gardengrove is like? or tell me about any other options around the same price in the Sukhumvit area?

    many thanks

  8. Tried posting in the kids section but no joy hope somebody can help.

I am planning to have my daughter vaccinated against measles while we are in Bangkok..I dont want the triple MMR vaccine just the single Measles jab. Would anyone recommend a Doctor or hospital to get this done? and also a rough idea on price?

    Many thanks

  9. Thanks for that info..

I took her to the Sylvanian families last trip she did enjoy that. I was also wondering if any one fancies getting together in the park so the kids can play a bit? I am worried that she wont see many kids her age to play with!

I will have a look for that park I think its not far from where we are staying

    Many thanks

  10. Hi,

just wondering what I should do..I am British traveling with my 17 month old. Will be spending 3 weeks in Thailand then going to Korea for 10 days then back to Thailand for another 2 to 3 weeks. My question is will we have a problem coming in on the visa waiver when our return date is beyond 30 days? I am buying our tickets to Korea when we arrive in Bangkok.

    Any advice?

  11. Hi

I have a few questions for you all..I am coming to Bangkok for a work trip again with my 17 month old. We will be in Thailand for about 5 weeks.

Last trip we hired a great nanny through and agency and would like to use her again if we can. Only I would prefer that I go direct to the nanny as I was unhappy about the way the agency was dealing with us towards the end of our last trip. I have her contact details and was wondering what kind of pay the agency was giving her? So I can pay her more than they do but less than they were charging me. Any ideas?

Also can anyone tell me if there are some places that the nanny can take my daughter to play with other kids? I dont want her stuck at the apart hotel all the time :o We go to an indoor play center in London where they have soft climbing frames and ball pits etc anything like that in bkk?

One more thing...I am planning to have my daughter vaccinated against measles while we are there..I dont want the triple MMR vaccine just the single Measles jab. Would anyone recommend a Doctor or hospital to get this done? and also a rough idea on price?

    Many thanks
