  1. What's recorded on your birth certificate in the way of your nationality and/or parents nationality. If one of your birth parents is/was Thai then you are Thai and you should be able to get a Thai ID card relatively easy.

My mom is american, as I said my dad is Thai but he is a bit difficult and I'm just trying to find out if their is a way I can get it myself. I have my birth certificate naming him my father so i can prove that with no difficulty. I am just trying to see if anybody knows away to go around asking the parent??? thanks for your replies though.

Does your home country(where you have your citizenship) allow you to have two citizenships?

  2. my guess is it has to do with the 20 mil baht. "businessmen" in this country just shoot you, start a fire, or blow something up if they don't get the deal they want. 20 mil baht is enough of a reason to kill a farang in this country.

I thought it was from 1 million up :o

Then I can tell you that 5.000,- can be enough.

  3. Just be advised to put this here..

We are in the process of having our house built. We have the opion to lease the land from our daughter in law or set up the business so the company has the land etc.

Whatever way we decide I believe we still have to have a company for the house.

Can anygive let me know what are the steps for this. its only a small house on 36 WAH..

Sadly after a year in the planning something has cropped up that there is a possibility we may have to sell it on due to unforeseen circumstances, although I am hoping it will not come to this.

What taxes etc does one have to pay on selling a property?

Many thanks in advance for any help

    Debra

  4. It makes no difference in any instance (that I know of) where the marriage took place, in Thailand or overseas. Thailand fully recognizes marriages of its nationals registered overseas. If dealing with an upcountry amphur or land office, there may be some issues as many people still think the property rights of Thai women married to foreigners is some how impacted by the marriage.

Now if you're married under a foreign juridiction where properties bought after the marriage belongs to both (sorry I'm not a lawyer and English is not my mother tongue), what happens to properties bought in Thailand after the marriage? Can they been deal with by the foreign juridiction ?

To make things simple, let's say you are married in the UK, you (you and your Thai wife) own properties for 1 M in the UK and for 1M in Thailand. In the unfortunate case of the marriage doesn't work, can you have an English judge splitting the properties, you keep what is in England, the Thai party what's in Thailand, or any deal that give it's fair share to both parties but keeping in mind that the foreign party will never have to deal with a Thai judge ?

All properties bought after marriage have to be splitt 50/50 if you will divorce. The law about this is the same as in Europe. The problem is that this can take time if your wife don't want to give you anything. Then you have to get a' lawer, and the case will be handeled in the court. This can take one year or more. This I know a' lot about now, because I'm in this situation now. But as the court say, what have been baught when married, have to slitt 50/50.
