As for the best interest rate, I have used Islamic Bank of Thailand for years and always got better than anywhere else. Currently my fixed deposit earns 2.6% interest paid monthly. For a new account you'll get less than this, but usually higher than anywhere else.

    Thanks!

My experience is that it depends more on the individual branch and then to break it down further, to the manager or whoever might be in charge of this service. Ask questions and hope for the best.

Yes. It's why I asked in 2 different branches...

TMB bank has a  "No Fixed Account" which pays a slightly higher rate with immediate no notice withdrawals. Not sure what the current rate is nowadays, maybe close to 2 pc?

Yes, TMB has "No fixed" deposit (up to 1.6% annual interest rate). And very nice package "All free".

But they require work permit in order to open ANY account.

I asked in 2 branches, explain (in Thai labguage) that I don't want to work, I am arranging retirement visa. And I don't ask loan or credit card. I just want bring you 800,000 and keep in your bank. But they only repeat "solly, cannot, you must have workpermit, solly..."
    What a stupid rules...
p.s. If someone suggest TMB branch in Bangkok where I could open account without workpermit, I will be much appreciated.

For exchange useful information about skimming technology?

JFYI, Ukraine is one of the biggest source of cc fraud.

    Just couple examples:

Accounts hacked in Ukraine after using ATMs

Ukrainian Arrested With Fake ATM Cards

p.s. Crime doesn't have nationality. So, accusing all the nation (Russian, Ukrainian, Australian, American etc) and asking to ban them entering Thailand just because some citizen committed crime is incorrect.

According this logic Thailand should deny all the citizens of some European countries to enter Thailand because some paedophiles from those countries abused Thai children.

  4. They look rather Asian to me.

Because Russia is a multi-national country. There live not only people of Russian ethnicity, but also other ethnicities, include Asian ones. They all are citizen of Russia, some speak only Russian, some speak Russian and their own ethnicity language. For example:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashkir_language

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udmurt_language

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khanty_language

In this case, according family name, those 2 people are Korean ethnicity.

  5. ericthai, thanks!

We speak about different types of visa. 1-year multi-entry visa mean that I can enter/leave Thailand many times, if need. But if not need, I can stay in Thailand 1 year (only make 90-days report at Immigration). But I speak about another type multi-entry visa, which allow to stay in Thailand 90 days, but you can enter Thailand many times during the year. With border-run every 90 days it is possible to stay in Thailand with this type of visa up to 15 months. Consulate in Russia issue such type of visa if you present letters from Thai and Russian companies, and evidence that those company have business connection.

I can get all those papers (because Thai company really trades with Russia, it not fake). But my question was: can I get this visa in neighbor countries or not. And I have already got answer: cannot, should go to Russia smile.png

p.s. See http://en.thaiembassymoscow.com/info/?section=d6&artid=127. Can get even multiple entry NON-B visa with validity 3 years.

  6. Why would you need to get a Non-B if you do not plan to work? A 3 month tourist visa (which can be renewed) would work just fine?

Because I am not tourist and want to enter Thailand for "conduct business".

    See 2.1 (2) at: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22B%22-%28for-Business-and.html

Tourist visa given not for 3 month, but 60 days with validity period of use 3 months.

And if I leave Thailand, tourist visa became "used", should get new.

With multi-entry NON-B visa I can come to Thailand and leave to another countries as much, as I need. Every month, every week (if needed). Without re-apply for visa or obtaining re-entry permit.

  7. Hello,

I need to reside in Thailand almost all the time to look after Thai company. I do not plan to work in this company (there are Thai staff, who make all job). So, I don't need work permit.

As far as I understand, in this case I can get 3-month multi-entry NON-B visa with validity period ("enter before") 1 year. So, I can come to Thailand many times during the year and stay no more than 3 month each time.

What papers do I need for such type of visa?

Can I get this visa in neighbor countries (Laos, Malaysia etc)? I am citizen of Russia, but currently already in Thailand. Going back to Russia for apply in Thai Consulate in Russia is quite expensive option :)

If someone can recommend some lawyer in Bangkok, who can arrange everything, it would be appreciated.

  8. Hello,

I have a "general" insurance (i.e. incident, illness etc). But it not cover dive and other "extreme sport" incidents.

I already asked some dive centers if they can provide dive insurance for 2-3 days, all of them answer "no" and suggest buy DAN insurance.

But I dive 2-3 times a year, so buy 1-year DAN insurance is quite expensive.

Does anyone know where can I buy short-time dive insurance (2-3 days, up to 1 week) in Thailand?

  9. If some find learning Thai so hard what about learning Russian?

    ...

Some may question my fluency in Thai ( I can certainly improve ) but I am a fluent Russian speaker so I can take good care of your Russian learning needs.

I understand when people learn Thai in Thailand with native speakers. But I find idea of learning Russian in Thailand with non-native speaker quite strange...

    Nothing personal.

  10. It reads, "ลำบากยังงัย "เรา" ก็จะไม่ "ทิ้ง" กัน --รัก หนิง"

    ...

Translated, "Whatever difficulty we face, we'll never leave each other. Love, Ning"

    ...

I've rather literally translated "เราก็จะไม่ทิ้งกัน / rao gaw ja mai ting gun" as "we'll never leave each other", but a more idiomatic translation might be something like "we'll always have each other", or perhaps, "we'll never part". Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea. :)

    Thanks a lot, Peppy!

According the movie, this text is written on the back side of picture of 2 lovers, who apart at the end.
