  1. Hello,

I'm looking for some cargo services from Chiang Mai (Bangkok if there are none in Chiang Mai) to Brisbane, Australia.

This is to export personal belongings, not for business purposes.

Does anybody have some suggestions, experiences, and know how much I should expect to be paying? When I left, there was a service at the airport that would send over belongings on planes that had spare space. Thus, they couldn't guarantee a day of arrival, but that it would be within a certain time frame. Any reputable services like that here?

    Thanks

  2. Hello,

I'm wondering how this is done.

I'm looking to buy some duty free liquor upon my return to Thailand. Problem is, once I land in Bangkok I will be taken a non-connecting flight to Chiang Mai. So I have to collect my bags, check in again, and then go through security again.

Am I just able to carry the liquor through if they are still unopened? Or will I need to put it in my checked luggage?

    Thanks

  3. While not the case for 100% of Thai drivers, there are enough idiot drivers (of all races really, lots of idiot foreigners come and think anything goes) to understand your frustration. Could have something to do with the prevalent thought that "what should happen will happen", so if you were meant to get hit by an oncoming car when going around a blind corner, then you will be. Also the bigger vehicle tends to have right of way. Best thing for anyone coming to look for advice though is to just go with your last statement "Sorry Thai`s, you will never change" and drive accordingly. As you're finding out, be prepared for anything and don't assume that everyone will drive the way you do in your home country, and never day dream while on the road.

  4. Bought in Chiang Mai from one of the big bike shops. Can't remember the name at the moment, sorry, will look tomorrow and post. It is near by Wararot markets. But they only had one. They mainly have choppers (and only a couple, they mainly fix bikes, do body work, air spray, etc.) 127,000 with Registration.

  5. Hey all,

I bought a Honda CB400 VTEC 1 today and am VERY happy with it thus far. A question though, I've seen in photos that the LCD screen between the instruments has a clock function. How do I set it?

Anyone have a manual for one? I've only found a pre-VTEC manual, which doesn't help with the digital instruments...

    Thanks

    Michael

  6. I *might* be able to stretch to 150,000, but only if it had a greenbook. I think I know that shop, but his bikes don't yet have a green book, and he quoted something like 70,000 and 6 months wait.

The Suzuki ended up being a no go. Too expensive (I must have misheard, or the person told me wrong, because it isn't 115, it is 165). I rode a CB400 last night though, loved it. But no green book on this one so I'll keep looking...

  7. Hi all,

after going down to Bangkok on the weekend and seeing a Honda CB400, only to find that the price didn't include registration and green book (some miscommunication, making it way out of my price range) I'm now kind of at a loss as to finding one. I live in Chiang Mai, but if the price is right, and the condition is good I can travel for it.

Could you guys help me find a Honda CB400 Super Four, years 2000 or more recent? Color isn't *that* important (the one I was looking at was Red and White, I've also seen white which was really nice, and black which was really nice), but the condition (mechanical and aesthetic) is important. My price range is around the 100,000bht mark, but I can stretch that if convinced, especially if it is mid 2000s).

    Thanks for your help

    Michael

  8. Oh? I might give them a look then, thanks.

About how long does it take for his to process the green book and plates, do you know?

    Thanks

You could try Lek Soryon (www[dot]soryon[dot]com/ )

Lousy English translations on the site and no published prices so you would have to check and negotiate your deal. Paperwork does take time (Uses his import reciepts for the duty and processes the green book and plates after you pay the deposit, not whilst awaiting a buyer) and is averagely priced (not cheap, but no worse than many I checked out) and his service was friendly and honest (in my experience about 18 months ago). Had a decent selection then of the CB400's you are after, and seems he has even more now. You can get an idea here:-

  9. Hmm... I'm only going to be able to be there for the weekend, have to be back in Chiang Mai on Monday.... I have friends down there though, perhaps they could handle the paperwork on my behalf?

Alternatively, are there any similar places in Chiang Mai? I'm looking for a CB400 and their Red and White looks REALLY nice.

  10. Hi everyone,

has anyone spotted some good Australian style Meat Pies and Sausage Rolls in Chiang Mai?

I've seen imports at Limping Supermarket for quite a high price, and found some bakers that make 'decent' pies (except they forget possibly the most important ingredient: Gravy), but nothing quite like home.

Otherwise, has anyone spotted Puff Pastry for sale anywhere?

    Thanks

    Michael
