  1. "When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good”, but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest.

In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.

The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea.

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and whole-heartedly become our desire so that we again can be called: "one nation under God."

If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends. "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything."

Think about this: If you forward this prayer to everyone on your e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be heard by the world.

....do you have the guts to pass it on?

    Cheers...........kandt

  2. The lacks of response from the usually quick respoding crowd here on the forum, unfortunately answer your question. The only international school, with a reputation, The Dulwich, ceased to exist after the school year 2004-2005. The new school, British Curriculum International School, Phuket seems to have a lot of teetering problems and although most of the teachers stayed on, the sentiment is that no one will call it a good school yet, mostly because it doesn’t have any significant accreditation. However, most of the students are still there and lacking any serious competition, parents and students living in Phuket have no other place to go. Check it outhttp://www.bcis.ac.th]

  3. The best indian restaurant (and most genuine) is the Baluchi Restaurant in Hotel Horizon in Patong. Most spices they get from BKK and the food is very good. Pricy, some will say, but not compared to other restaurants in the Patong area. Having tried some of the other indian restaurants mention in Phuket City and on the road to Rawai, the taste is not even close compared to Baluchi. Obviously, it was closed for some time but is now re-open and serving the same delicious indian food. ( The Sindies in Phuket eat there when they go out). :o

  4. Denhan,

You should certainly visit Phuket in 2006. Like in Bali, anything is possible! As mention by Godot, you should however, try to find out what you want to see before going on the sightseeing because otherwise the sightseeing will be limited to batik shops, jewellery shops and other Mart’s catering to the tourist only and paying tee-money to the driver. The dollar amount mention by Godot is fine which should give a reasonable air-conditioned car. The 1000 Baht will only provide for a tuk-tuk, the open air, uncomfortable mini trucks, which are hard to deal with during a whole day’s ride. My recommendation is to deal with the local small travel agencies located everywhere in Phuket and decide on smaller trips to more exciting destinations in and around Phuket.

  5. It seems we have two threads covering the same aspect; this one and the 7 drown in Hadyai....? having asked a question in the second one I will ask the same question in this one. I am slated to drive to Songkhla 21 December. The answer in the first forum was that the water is receeding but there might be trouble around Trang. On thursday I will drive on to Malaysia. The trains are not running but the question is whether the main roads are so flooded that driving is not possible? I would love to postpone but have already booked the hotel in October and would hate to pay without using the booking.

  6. ^ I would check what ths situation is like in Trang as the water-level there is very high and schools have been ordered to close all week. I'm based in Hat Yai. The water level has receded considerably, but we're supposed to get heavy rain between the 21-23. Good luck with your journey. Weather permitting, I'm driving to Phuket on the 24th. Could you let me know how you get on? Also, what's the weather like in Phuket at the moment? I don't imagine I'll be getting much of a sun-tan  :o

Thanks Jowels, I will. Trying all channels but not with too much luck. Weather has improved in Phuket within the last two days. The question is whether it will last. Bring your sun screen anyway. have a asafe trip.

  7. Hello Everybody,

I am planning to drive to Malaysia from Phuket sometimes next week! However, I hear many stories of people having to leave their car at the border because the Malaysian Authorities will not allow a Thai registered vehicle to enter Malaysia? Anybody having experience or suggestions about this!

  8. Do you think any thais actually take any notice of all these daft ideas? I have spoken to many thais about them and they see only us farangs as being concerned. They all just smile and say they will still be able to get access to alcohol 16 or 17 hours a day just as they do now. They just seem to be used to not taking any notice of any laws which affect them financially. The age old profession being a prime example :o

Well spoken Dragonman. The Thais don't even care about the red traffic light, because then they have to brake.

  9. When did they relocate Chiang Mai to the Southern most Provinces? Another Toxin trick?

Thousands of southern mobile phone users face service cut

The telephone companies had repeatedly asked their customers via SMS to register over the past few months.

    --TNA 2005-11-15

I've had the same number and the same handset for 5 years now

I've never had an SMS telling me to register it - at least not in English, and as I can't read Thai (like the several hundred thousand other farang users of pre-paid in the kingdom) it's no use sending me an SMS in Thai - the phone companies should recognise that from the default language set on my handset - the language setting is part of the ID signal that monitors which cell you're currently in.

I have no idea where I have to do it

I have no idea what documents I have to provide

I had no idea of the deadline until reading this at almost 10pm

They really publicised this well didn't they?

  10. It seems like an excellent attempt to save money for the drivers and oil import for the country. Thanks to the independence of the Thai oilindustry, from the large oilcompanies, the Thai authorities have been able to pull this off.

However, its not a new technology but has been in use in various countries for more than ten years.

I'm using it myself but I have a slight inclination that the kms. per liter gasohol is less than normal petrol. In a month I would have driven enough kms. to be more specific.

  11. Johny Dee Rock,

I don't have a similar experience but maybe some comments. Your parents are much better off in LOS than in the States, considering their condition you're implying. You mentioned that you have a wife and child in Thailand, which, from my perspective indicate some Thai family around, who may assists?

However, your Dad's income of Baht 65,000 is just short of the annual requirement of Baht 800,000. This will require that someone is depositing into their bank account, min Baht 20,000 per year. Your Dads income must be documentable, i.e annual pension statement, company statement or similar, which has to be tranlated into Thai. Similar to the marriage certificate.

It is not that diifficult, it takes a little time the first time around but then it becomes routine. Make sure they enter on a proper visa like non-immigrant "O", and if you lock into the nearest Thai consulate web-site in the States, all the information is available there. Depending on your location in Thailand, some flexibility may be applied by the immigration officers! I am sure your wife can figure that out.

I hope it works out for you and your parents.

    Cheers......kandt

  12. Farang888,

difficult to answer with the limited information provided.

However, lets try. Doing legal business in Thailand, presume you're here on a non-immigrant visa, B or O or similar. See also http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=18&t=46666.

This entails that you, or your sponsor will have to inform the authorities, depending on your business, about the activities. It is then basically up to them, to decide how to go about the authorisation to do business in Thailand. The exchange laws are quite clear and may be checked at http://www.bot.or.th/bothomepage/index/index_e.asp.

With more details more information is available.

    Cheers.......kandt

  13. The thing will only open sometimes late 2006. Toxin naturally wanted to try to stick to his original promise for the completion of the airport in September 2005. The fun part is; if the rainfall will be normal during the monsoon season the airport, when opend, will still close during haevy downpour because of flooding. Maybe they will introduce Amphebious airplanes?

  14. A big Texan cowboy stopped at a local restaurant following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico.

While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table.

Not only did it look good, but the smell was wonderful.

He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?"

The waiter replied, "Ah Senor, you have excellent

taste! Those are bull's testicles from the bullfight

    this morning. A delicacy!"

The cowboy, undaunted, said, "What the heck, I'm on vacation, I'll have some!"

The waiter replied, "I am so sorry, Senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bullfight each morning. If you place your order now, we will be sure to save you this delicacy for tomorrow."

The cowboy placed the order and the next evening he

was served the one and only special delicacy

of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the

contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and

said, "These are delicious, but they are much

smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday"

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Senor, sometimes the bull wins."

  15. I'm in Kata/Karon right now.. i will post up news as soon as i get it...

So far.. nothing but panic, there was a loud speaker van going round telling people (in thai) to get away from the beaches) otherwise nothing...

Will report as and when i find out

Nicobar Island is 7.5 degree N, 92 degree E. Patong is 7.5 degree N and 98 degree E. Hopefully no tsunami has developed from the earthquake.

  16. The change from Dulwich College to the British International College of Thailand will require some time to see if it is a workable solution. It is probably difficult to replace the curriculum and the reputation of the Dulwich College (UK) is not easy to duplicate, without knowing the real educational backing of the alleged support from another UK school. I don’t believe the statements from the real estate brookers are true, they were just seeking and excuse.

The educational fees at the British International College of Thailand, will remain a fraction compared to the international schools in Singapore and Hong Kong, not to mention the quality of life for the wifes and the kids. We can only hope that Thai owner got the wink, when it comes to international education. If not, well the doomsayers may be proven right.

    Cheers kandt :o
