  1. There is alot to recommend the older lady. I am not sure i am on for your scenario of "the hag", but when i was 20 and was seeing a 33 yr old women i loved it. Perhaps there was more than a little of the fact that younger girls ( in the UK at least) bugg3r you around..but fun is fun.

but a really old chook?? hmmmm, I'd give it a whorl; life is for experiencing, and not all of those experiences are going to look great.

I doubt I'd make a habit out of it, and i;'m sure i would be very glad i didn't have to depend on it for income.

  2. i dont know the in's and out's of what has been happening. I take it by the leisurely growth of many of the threads today that there are number of "players" absent. Are they taking a breather?

What is really needed is a middle way --- I sound like blair now!! seriously though; obviously alot of the outrageous flaming needs to go, but at the same time you dont want the place to be completely sterile. Vigorous debate is Ok in my book, providing it is on topic and not abusive...well maybe a little subtle abuse is ok.

    Look , no flame again.

Sorry, most of what I read is fiction, primarily mysteries with a historical bent. Been on that jag for about two years now and it is still running strong.

well then you absolutely must read the flashman series...they are not very PC, but great historical fiction. Another cracker is Black Ajax, about the 19th Century 1st black heavy weight Tom Molineaux - just excellent.

I've got the entire Flashman series. Some in hardback. Got hooked on him a while back & who gives a rat's ass if the're not PC! That was a guy who lived life to the fullest!

    Boon mee,

excellent!! i'm a bit of an addict myself. I have them all too, alas not hardback....wish i did. I have read most of them at least twice; Flashman and the great game several times. I have a thing about Lakshmibai...my mins eye has a wonderful image of her with the koh-i-noor in her navel....As you see i am a bit of a flashman geek!!! oh dear.

You are right too, the fact that they are not PC at all is what makes them so great.

  4. are we not a bit early for word of the decade? Are we all expecting that nothing will happen over the next 6 years?

My word for the opening 1/2 decade of this millenia would be....well actually there are 5 words.

    ENGLAND ARE WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!

  6. well you have me glad i'm not still there. No question of you looking back through rose tinted glasses. That said, you go to some places in the world, and god your glad your not one of a local.

i am in west africa at present, and every day see stuff that makes you glad you dont live their lives. Annoying they may be, but i think i'd take CCTC and chewing gum on the pavements.

All the same, you make a valid point that many of us can relate to.

  7. guys, i dont know the in's and out's of all this, but constantly abuse leveled at duckthai is unlikely to help.....on consideration though, he did wade into this thread like a bull in a china shop.

  8. well you certainly have your fan club...i called you fat in one post and some geezer jumped to your defense.

I notice G-P is not posting much anymore...well actually not at all. I hope you have kept your threats on the pc and not physical.

BTW gent, i'm in tassie in 3 weeks i'll keep an eye out for property. if the wife lets me get away from my job list that is.

  9. its not fictional, but following on from the war theme, i strongly recommend sebastian Faulks " birdsong". For me at least it was very thought provoking. For non-fiction, i am very much enjoying Alfred Lansings " endurance".. about the shackleton antartica voyage.

If we are talking about books though i have to mention george MacDonald Frasers "flashman" series. They are histerical...and historically very acurate; well once you have taken flashman out.

  10. I am an avid rugby follower, and still play when i can. What is the rugby scene like in thialand in general? is it a game predominantly played by the expats? Where ever i have gone in the world its usually the first thing i do. go and find the local rugby club. there is no better way to get in to the local community and meet new people; i have never found other sports clubs quite as welcoming...or social.

10's in tropical heat!!! sounds too much like hard work...

    Bash,

you have a problem sir...you are fat,,, you must be with all this talk of food. Is that why you moved to thailand? to lose weight?

who the ###### needs 5 litres of HP sauce? or 3 litres of horseradish? is this for a restaurant? seems a tad excessive for home consumption.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STAY IN THE BEARPIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not safe to go there. If you get caught...they torture you on TV!

    Or is it with TV?

Anyway they use a TV in a most terrible way.

The bearpit, that's only for kinky boys and nice women.

    hence it's in here.
As they say, the truth shall out. And in this case it's already been shown that those photos came from a Hungarian Porno site!

Anything to try and discredit America again...

its not just america, and there are more than just the 1 picture of the girl with the prisoner on a leash. Even if there are fake photo's...and i am sure many of them are, I find it unlikely that these kinds of things are not going on. If its not going on, you have to wonder what sort of nancy boys they've got over there.

  13. Whilst browsing the BBC website I starting reading the postings of people on this subject. What I am surprised about is the level of abuse against the incumbent politicians in both the UK and US and against these servicemen. I say incumbent as it appears likely that Rumsfeld may lose his position over these pictures.

Why all the hoo-ha? Compare this against the scale of atrocities committed by the Tutsi’s and Hutu’s in Rwanda in the 90’s, or during the Biafra war of the 60’s, or any number of African conflicts in between. Well there really is no comparison; for one thing they didn’t take prisoners. They butchered them, and then went hunting for their families to rape and butcher them too, and then their friends, and then burn their house down. That is war..

So let’s be honest, these are prisoners, they are going to get the odd bit of abuse from their captors. I for one do not condemn them for it.

    What do you think?

I know this should go in the pit, but I don’t want to get called fat, weenie basher, or a pedophile

  14. Strangely i almost found myself sympathising with g-p reading his last post...most unusual...

I am not married to a thai, but if i was i would undoubtedly be married to a bad one; my judgement with women is sometimes awry.

  15. I actually much prefer white women....most particularly white women from a cultural background which i myself am from. I can better identify with them, I am better able to treat them as an equal, something i am not very good at (to my shame) with other nationalities.

I give a friend of mine married to thai women abuse about only doing so because he couldn't "pull a white girl". He actually takes it pretty well. hoho

  16. So was Beruit before the Syrians messed it up as well but to keep this on a Thailand-related theme...there are a lot of Thais traveling to Brazil these days. Encountered quite a few at the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Foz Iguacu. Thais overseas are a lot claner and more polite than farang!

i cannot let this bit of outrageous travelling name dropping go by without joining in.. I shall be a travel snob and tell you that border crossing is nothing like the trip from uyuni to san pedro de atacama ( spelling may be awry) where you cross the bolivian-chillean border at about 4,000m after crossing the salar de uyuni. Without question the most amazing place i have ever been.

  17. well i went over to he bear pit so that you could take pot shots at a brit, but it wouldn't accept my user name/password, and i was not going through the rigmerole of signing up for more junk e-mail to spam my account; you can insult me here though if you would like to. I did post in the bear pit a couple of times, prior to the separation; having a sensible discussion was nigh on impossible, without someone or other taking it to personal levels...that said recent postings in here suggest it is much the same.

So what was this thread about oh yes/...subway? Are you bloody deranged??? hohoho i make myself chuckle. Terrible sarny's. I get very annoyed at the ludicruous amount of questions i am required to answer before i can get something to eat.

But.... they are immeasurably better than the junk you get in australia. you have to be extrememly careful or they throw beetroot all over it. It doesn;t seem to matter what you order it comes with beetroot. disgusting stuf.

So where do you get the best sandwich. Easy...though bias. Britain. i do love big doorstop sized cuts of granary bread with cheese and branston, or ham and brie....yummmm i can almost taste them.

they should be confined to koh samet or phi phi where they can act out scenes from the beach, braid their hair, smoke weed and talk about what a dreadful place the world is.

Its a free world, live and let live.  Not everyone wants to go to Pervert City and buy a wife.

    Sad Tosser.

And, for that illuminating post, duckthai, you get the assclown award for today!

duckthai actually made a reasonable point, but he then alienated himself insulting a good portion of this board who are married to thais.

Such people are mooching about the world over doing there "finding themselves" stuff, they tend to be young and are experimenting with life. It may look foolish to the rest of us, but they are not doing any harm are they? give em a year or 2 and they'll go home and get jobs, and have a lifetime of "normality ahead of them.
