Wait....if PTP thinks that the political system is so rigged that "independent agencies", political parties, courts etc. can conspire to overthrow a democratically elected government that works on legal principles it surely means they're supporting reforms before elections?
At least then "we follow the democratic way" (still my favourite/most listened to comment of the good PM)

She can lie, cheat, steal and of course cry on cue. That 4 things.I myself cannot decide but I need someone to help look at other problem-solving perspectives.
Ms Yingluck said she alone could not answer the question and opinions from several people would be more beneficial as there would be knowledgeable people to jointly find resolutions.
I would like to know what she can do by herself, besides shopping of course.
She can lead a country, protect democracy, protect the people (against the elite 'authorities') and she can defend democracy - hey Bro that's 4 things TOO
err....
Lead a country: certainly not. Even in this situation she rather hides behind empty phrases and FB posts than take decisive action. Amnesty Bill and Rice-pledging scheme (under her leadership) are also excellent examples of her prowess.
Protect democracy: Since when is there any democracy here? Rule of power and money can't be called that. Or else there would've been a lot of people in jail since 2006 already - both sides. So, that's a no too.
Protect the people: Apparently selectively...because last time I've checked there are still various people dying during the protests....so, NO
Defend democracy: Not sure how this is different to no. 2....in any case...to keep repeating "We have to respect the democratic way." doesn't mean you're actually defending it....
Maybe try another 4 then...

Wow...."Framework". Seems like YL has learnt a new word and needs to show off by using it 3 times in 2 sentences!
She better rejects the offer or else she would be the laughing stock of the country

Great idea, I think!
Once they're landlocked I wonder how they will get products, etc. delivered.
But they can try selling their rice 40% above market value. Any industry that produced would likely move to "South Thailand" (if there is North & South Thailand as the new states) where the minimum wage would probably be reversed to a level that reflects the actual qualification of workers.
Wonder how they will finance this new country then!
That's an easy one: SHIN-CASINOS INC. ! ! ! ! ! !
Not so far from the truth. It almost happened in late 2005 with talks in Chiang Mai with Macao tycoons getting to a late stage in negotiations with the subsequent 2006 coup putting the mockers on it as it would have been of no benefit to the south.
Look for negotiations to be reopened when PTP if /when return to power. And major construction projects in and around the northern provinces with a new Chiang Mai airport likely to be the main one.
I'm sure SHIN-CASINO INC. will be an eager tax-payer to finance the continuation of the rice-pledging scheme, tablet scheme, etc. etc.
I would love to see how this dynamic pans out and how long it will take for the rural electorate to figure out they're being taken for a ride

Unfortunately, it seems that some countries aren't made for democracy. Thailand very much seems to be one of them.

Swine flu as cause for low tourism numbers....that would mean that nobody in the world is traveling anymore.
I think those tourism associations better send letters to PAD and red shirt (UD...whatever they are called) coz they messed up most parts of it. Besides, the constant scamming and treating foreigners like shit which was mentioned above.
I kinda enjoy seeing Thailand in this situation although I live here. Maybe they gotta get back to rice farming for a decade before they understand that you can't mess around with foreigners and international investors over a period of 3 years when your country is relying on tourism and foreign investment.
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!

You live here? if not don't commentWhat happened has this sleezy Aussie owner got the police to put a little red police box there in his bar and pay them 1,000 baht a month for "protection" when the going gets tough and people won't pay up!I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. Police can drink there for free and if incidents happen then they can take the offenders away and press money out of them. NICE THAILAND!
I do! That's why I know what i'm talking about...and what others are talking about this bar.
It's so sad to see all those self-loving, ignorant foreign residents that comment like that. I just hope you're caught at some stage in a situation like that. Unfortunately, unlike this woman you know how to buy yourself out of it.

I've heard the rumor that PROSTITUTION is illegal in Thailand...probably ONLY a rumor. But if that was the case I wonder why they arrest people who steal bar mats. They should go after all the sex offenders in this country.
And I'll have a guess that there's a fair portion of sextourists or S-Expat's amongst those who post here that she rightfully deserves to be in jail for committing a crime. Clean your own yard first, guys. Most of you are here for the same reason.

And I sincerely hope that word gets around in the world on how the Patong Police operates.
I was myself involved in a case there last week when some parking guards attacked a friend who parked his car at a parking outside of their "paid-parking area". They beat him up for 40B!!!
Dear One-off-poster.
Tell your friend to pay the 40B next time.
Go home to your own country.
Best regards, you friend.
Well, thanks! Obviously you have been here too long and too much "Thai" to understand what I and maybe some others in this thread are trying to say. You're right, he should've paid the 40 B. But that's beside the point....it's about treating all equal before the law and that's unfortunately not the case in Thailand.

TOURIST POLICE:
Seconds after, a tourist policeman passed there on a motorbike and when i told him about the incident he just drove off. At the police station nobody felt like coming there after we repeatedly asked for them to come.
I think it's her good right to get as much publicity and money out of the story to cover all the expenses she must've had so far for lawyers, hotels, flight changes etc.
THAI POLICE:
The Thai Police was obviously were befriended with the parking guards letting them tell the story although we wanted to file a case. Suddenly, it was us who it first (although none of us was hitting at all since there were about 5 more guys just waiting for that). They never took a name or statement but instead were interested in our blood alcohol level without even asking if one of us was driving.
To sum it up:
1. Phuket Police doesn't make allegations without evidence -> complete bullshit !!!
2. They are only interested in offenses that brings them money...if someone's abused or hurt they don't care. But if (someone is farang and) they can press money out of allegations then they are really fast in doing something.
3. There always seem to be plenty of witnesses around that can tell about how badly some foreigner behaved...
Of course, it's in the bar owner's interest to keep the police happy and play their game. Otherwise he has to pay more to them.
What a shame what's going on here. This country is running itself systematically into the ground

I might be misinterpreting this but to me it doesn't sound like the typical condemnations. To me it simply means: Do what you need to do to make your country safe.
