  1. I purchased a 2nd laptop that would not go on-line, specifically for storing my wallet details with backups of the Bitcoin address's I was going to use to purchase 500 Bitcoins at 40GBP (20,000) some time back. It was all in place and I was ready to buy from a seller in person to avoid being scammed on-line. In the end I bottled it, something was telling me don't do it, so I pulled out.

Today they would be worth 132,500 GBP!! som nam bluddy na!! my own fault for not going through with it!!

I also remember PayPal in '99 looking for investors, when I read the concept I laughed, send money to someone via an email address in seconds that will never work are they serious!!

  2. In a past life, I had a western wife that used to love to argue with me when I was occupied and had my concentration on other important and immediate matters, like when I was working, cooking and her favorite time to start a fight or argument was when I was driving..........totally unfair tactics. Well, one day she tried to pick a fight when I was behind the wheel in heavy traffic and had to concentrate and I didn't say a word, but slowly and safely pulled over to the road side and reached over, opened the door and gently, but forcefully pushed her out of the car and drove off...........she never pulled that game again and we are now happily divorced.........at least I can say 'happily'!!

That was the gentlemen's way of dealing with her. Old Jack The Hat weren't such a gent...

  3. IMO it would be great if the vendors all disappeared. There never used to be vendors along Beach Road and it was all so much better back then. Now it's all just about money.

Totally agree they make the whole place look shabby which Is a shame after all this work is being done to make it look nice.

  4. ahh spent many a drunken nights at Dennys. and speaking of this fine establishment, here is a video of the fine youth of america enjoying a late rootie tootie fresh and fruity breakfast. coffee1.gifw00t.gif

Frigging awesome thanks for that, Dennys rocks.

  5. I would not characterize what goes on in Pattaya during Songran as "fun" (at least not for more than 1 hour or so -- no doubt that the kids under 10 y.o. enjoy it), but YMMV.

That's the point, this time last year there were hoards of kids splashing water at the end of my soi a few days before and on the 19th. Had a walk to 7/11 earlier it's like a ghost town, very strange.

(not debating about individual feelings for songkran it's boring and been done to death)

  6. The Chinese, Korean, Russian and Indian tour group buses tourists don't bring much fun to the city..

Ain't that the truth. The Russians especially have to be some of the most miserable people on the planet.

  7. We was recommended a builder from a large builders merchants on Sukamvit road. He turned out to be the lowest of low scum bag piece of crap I have ever had the misfortune to come across.

Excuses why the work was taking so long so unbelievably outrageous that you almost had to laugh when being told them. One time he said the workers had gone back to the village and he had to go back there to "catch them all" and put them in the back of the truck but wasn't easy because they would jump out again, hahahah this guy was a real comedian.

After 5 months I had enough of it, I wanted it finished and for him to f-k right off out my life so we called for a meeting and told him we had some very good news. We said my Thai wife had just inherited a rai of land in central Pattaya and wanted to build a hotel on the land and could he arrange for this to be built for us, we have 3 million baht for the job and was that enough?

He fell for it hook line and sinker, all work was completed on our house, the extension, windows, tiles throughout, beautiful teak doors it really looked the nuts when done.

It gave me the utmost pleasure to pay him the final payment and tell him we would "be in touch" about the hotel being built and off he went with a big greedy smile, hahaha.

  8. If it was Goose's Fish and Chips he could be as unfriendly and rude to me as he likes. Those fish and chips are darn GOOD!

I agree mate I don't expect or want the boss of a restaurant to juggle balls and entertain me I go to the circus for that. As long as the grub is good the place is very clean which it is there I go back. By the way the staff in there are always friendly.

    edit: spelling

  9. I walked into a motorcycle shop to buy some oil for my bike last week in one of them shack type places you see in some sois. I walked in and guy shouts falang! Everyone stops working and all eyes are on me. I picked a small container of oil from the shelf looked at the price and handed over 500 baht. Guy gives me change and 100 baht short. I ask him neung roy khrap and he hands me a 100 baht note grinning like a Cheshire cat, unbelievable.

Whatever way you want to spell it or pronounce it farang or falang it means money alert.

  10. Cheers JackA you gave me the foundations to start my research whereas before I didn't know what to start with.

After reading your advice I have been reading up and trying to educate myself with what might be best for my requirements.

Looks like a Denon AVR with 6 JBL speakers 1 each corner and 2 subs either side center along with an Xtreamer box.

Will wait until songkran has finished and take a trip to Mahajak see if they can kit me out.

Seriously bro I would of just bought an amp and maybe Jamo speakers (home entertainment pack - paper cones!!!) and thought that would of done it, you saved me a few quid that's for sure, nice one and happy Songkran.

  11. I have an outdoor entertaining area 12 meters by 6 meters, 1 solid 12 meter wall and three open sides with roof.

I have a smallish budget of 100,000 baht for a system that will play music from CD's only but I really do not have any idea what is good and what would sound good in that environment when full with people.

The sound must be enjoyable if loud and pleasant background sound if turned down.

If anyone has a spare few minutes and would possibly type me out a list of what to buy and from where in Bangkok I would really appreciate it, IE, Amp brand name and specs, speakers etc.

I do not have the confidence in shop sales staff to sell me what I need.

    Thank You.

  12. Personally I hope that new immigration Police Commander gets round to arresting all these fraudsters living in Pattaya -- The three associated with Gary B are not the only ones -- The South Wales news reported a while ago a Taff called Rees who was sending goods to his cousin -- The cousin was had for handling counterfeit goods and mony laundering. I personally will tip them off about any I find. They are a disgrace to Britain

Yes we would all like to clean the city up in one way or another to make it better place to live.

If I was the new immigration Police Commander the top of my list wouldn't be the likes of some guy who's been selling fake golf clubs, it would be the disgusting, senile old predators that trawl these sois looking for some, let us say "temporary companionship" with someone that could easily be their daughter.

There's no fool like an old fool.
