My wife and I will be in Bangkok for three days in mid February. We are Buddhists and wish to visit some of the temples while there. I would appreciate any suggestions as to the most interesting Temples to visit.
Cheers,

Golf is a great game. I love it so much that I play a lot of it whenever I am on the course. Why just hit it straight and long? It is much more interesting to hit into the rough, feed the lake, hit the beach, bounce off trees, etc. Putting? Well why not 3-4 putt each green ? That way you get to play more golf without paying for another round

Pass the nitroglycerin pills! My wife wants another Lexus 430 if we move to Thailand. Maybe if I sold the gold in my teeth??

If you take off, is there any chance of being chased down or tracked down by license #?
The horror stories I have read on these boards seem to dictate that the best option is to take off quick !!

Believe me, I tried everything known in the civilized and uncivilized worlds to cure hangovers. Laying in bed moaning with a head the size of North America, guts churning while I wondered where I had been or what I had done the night before was not a lot of fun. Finally I found a solution. I have not had a hangover for over 20 years.
I stopped drinking the stuff

If we ever decide to retire in Thailand we will be bringing two Boxers. Living in the desert now, I have to walk them in early morning or late evening in the summer. Presumably it would be tha same in the tropics.

I smoked cigarettes, cigars and pipes for many years. I had to give them all up years ago. If my wife didn't hate the smell of smoke so bad, I would still smoke a pipe. Oh well, it's better for my health to remain a non smoker.
Smoking doesn't bother me, but my wife won't allow it in our home.

Should the Ducks be placed on notice?

For dogs a cattle prod might work. Of course one of my boxers might not even notice. Nothing fazes him

Bear Pit open? Booshwa !! It won't open for me either. I never even posted in the Bear Pit. Can I be banned already, before having the chance to do something "banworthy"?

Terrorism involves killing innocent ordinary people. Regardless of the ethnicity of the terrorists, they are murderers. If you are attacked by a murderer, do you negotiate? Does the murderer want to negotiate? Of course not. Like it or not, you have to defend yourself and those whom you hold dear. Like it or not, the only truly effective way of dealing with terrorists is to eliminate them. This may not stop terrorism, but it will certainly stop the ones you eliminate.
The endless cycles of violence seem to be permanent human conditions. There are many "justifications" put forth by the apologists and defenders of terrorists. Nevertheless, we are left with the necessity of self defense and self preservation. Sitting in a circle singing "kumbaya" never stopped any war, act of terrorism nor crime.
What is so sad is the ongoing necessity to kill the terrorists, whose followers will then kill again. What other option remains? Did the adoption of fundamentalist islam in various countries remove them and their denizens from the terrorist stage? No.
Hopefully, the Thai Government will take all steps necessary to deal with this horrific situation.

Has any group practicing terrorism ceased these activities as a result of negotiations? From my observation, violence against innocent people appears to become the end in itself, rather than said group's originally stated goal. If I am correct, what good does any negotiation or appeasement do to eliminate such atrocities?
It appears that if no concessions are made, the violence continues. If some concessions are made, more concessions are demanded while the violence continues. If the violence is indeed the end in itself, is there any feasible solution, short of eliminating the terrorists?
Perhaps there are examples of terrorist activity (as opposed to actual military conquest) resulting in positive change through negotiations. I would be most interested to hear of such scenarios.
Unfortunately, the world deems to be in a period of increasing terrorism with no end in sight.

I find a wealth of information on this site. My wife and I plan to visit Thailand this coming Fall. If we like it, we plan to visit a few more times and stay for several weeks at a time. If we still like it we may retire over here.
I have not yet visited Thailand, but my wife was a stewardess many years ago and used to get to Bangkok occasionally. In preparation for the trip I am studying a little Thai on a home study course.
Almost all my questions are answered by looking at the posts already on the board. Keep up the good work. It is extremely informative and helpful.
