  1. I had some rings and other items custom made at Siam Utopia in Paradise Park in Bangkok. Very satisfied with the quality and level of customization. They are very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Thank you Stuff - I will drop in next time I am in that area and check them out. I am not good with shopping mall names and areas of town - do you have a street crossing or familiar intrersection for me ?

Can you tell me what you had made.? I already have photos of a few ring settings I am willing to be flexible with the design.

I want the shop to build the setting around whatever diamonds I happen to buy such as baggettes etc... I am trying to buy some nice stones not too large and have the Thai gold settings. Thats what this is really about is having the Thai gold instead of the mixed gold from other countries.

Its fairly straight forward for any goldsmith - I added a couple photos of the ring guards for anyones example. I need 1 womans solitare and mans diamond band made also.

    Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the delayed response, I've been out of pocket.

Paradise Park is on Srinakarin Road (Between OnNut Road and Udonsuk Road) on the same side as Seacon Square but closer to Udomsuk Road.

I had two rings made ( man and woman's) and also a custom pendant style necklace to house a "lucky" heart-shaped stone my daughter gave me when she was five. They did a great job with all and are very flexible and easy to work with. Their shop is on the ground floor not far from Villa Market.

Stuff - great info - thank you - I have been out of pocket overseas for a short time and only able to respond now - my apology.

Thank you for the info - I am in need of this work being done ASAP and appreciate your help with this info.

  2. best NOT to roam the streets alone no matter what city you vacation to

the MIB laughed at you bcoz they just got paid and in their minds they were looking at a fool

there is very little goes on in ANY areas the police are not a part of - they know exactly who is scamming and leaching off the public daily and they allow it to exist as long as they get a cut

simply one more reason to avoid tuk-tuks

simply one more reason for tourists NOT to visit thailand - plan your vacation at another destination - it will be less stress and money to visit another location and void the land of up-side-down frowns

  3. This is quite similar to those people who FART in a room full of people and immediately say "I didn't do that" - same same but different

Crawling like a crab sideways to protect themselves from what could get to be quite an ugly money war in Thailand soon enough - there are a lot of marginal Thai money people about to lose their proverbial shirts.

This is how the real money stays in power in Thailand – create the duress to knock those with marginal amounts in the bank aside and scoop up all the properties and business in the wake of the turmoil.

I wouldn't put it past Thaksin himself to be behind all of this to bring the people down that kicked him about and had him go into exile.

  4. [ Kamnan Winai alleged that the Karon Municipality was aware of the problem, but had taken no steps to fix it. ]

The reason for Karon Municipality not taking steps is bcoz they are the ones that most likely purged their tanks full of excrements into the canal to begin with - I can say with confidence that I am sure they have been doing this since they build the farce of a treatment facility to begin with.

  5. Sorry about your situation, mate.

If I was in such a situation, I would get in touch with a lawyer and ask him what to do to get custody, and do it, whatever it takes, no matter how long it takes and no matter how much it costs. Be pragmatic about it. Thais want money.

If consent is needed by parties involved such as the in-laws and their mother, I would borrow from the bank and offer to pay them 100,000 each for them to sign the kids off to you for good. Speak to a lawyer about any paperwork.

They will take the cash because Thais always take the cash.

This is one very good point - a Thai will most likely sell your kids back to you - its certainly worth every baht you spend to get them away from a mind minipulating bitch thats half baked as you say she is

I would offer 100.000.oo baht for all 3 and see what happens

even if you pay 100,000.oo baht each you are paying less than 10,000.oo usd and you walk away with legal papers and take the kids with you back home - if a relationship with them is what you really want this should not be too difficult to understand

you will never have a straight forward relationship with your children as long as her family is pulling the youngsters strings and playing the youngsters against you even if its just on a whim and their bored with themselves and want a little drama or to laugh at you

  6. OP's been told in no uncertain terms exactly what to do.

Turn off the money spigot; see how hard and how fast the wife will pull up a chair at the negotiating table.

If he hasn't implemented that advice, how the hell does he expect to reassert himself here?

In these situations, you use what you got to get what you want and here, you've got a big stick.

I agree totally - they want to manipulate you is fair dinkum - you can cut off all the money - and be sure its ALL of it

then when they ask why - you simply ask them in return why the sister is doing damage to your relationship with the youngsters - no relationship - no money - fairs fair

I bet her sister asks each and every month where her portion of your money is mate - be sure of that - she doesn't take full care of those little ones for free - you can take that to the bank as well

for sure one thing makes any person on this planet [no matter of nationalility] to stand up and listen to every word you say - is when you have your hand on their wallet

  7. OMG! Have you seen how much things cost in Thailand? The rent, the food, the beauty products, the night out with a friend, the transportation, the family needs, etc. 15,000 baht wont cut it, she needs at least 45,000baht to get by per month.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Now now be sensible - if this man is living overseas and sending his wife money to maintain a lifestyle - a VERY decent BKK 1 bdrm apartment can easily cost 8,000.oo baht per month and then double that for expenses and you have only 24,000.oo. I don’t belive there is need for 30,000.oo+ per month

That should keep her in a Thai lifestyle that is commensurate with being married to a farang.

I also agree with the mainstay requirement that ALL farang wives should be working and earning money to send home or pay for incidentals.

No longer should we be viewed as patsies opening our wallets to the wives to sit at home jobless and spend without regard.

She paid her rent and food and utilities and sent money home to her parents before you met her.

Now that she has a farang partner - you pay the rent and utilities and she has her entire paycheck to send home if she likes - but I bet she won't. If all farangs get this methodology into their heads and quit allowing their partners and their families and extended families to exploit them this would be a better place for all farangs - some balance would be restored.

All the double standards that exist with the division between farangs and Thais we should do everything within our powers to close that gap permanently

  8. <deleted> ? - this is exactly why this happens - you dug into your pocket immediately - how long you been here in Thailand ? - stand your ground and be a man about yourself - this is why the Thai think they can do anything at anytime with Farangs - OMG!! - I thought I had read just about everything on TV

  9. Hi... I would suggest the following steps:

Starting with your father's last updated Bank Book showing the balance on the account, then

    1. Obtain your father's UK Death Certificate, if he died in Thailand get the Thai Death Certificate as well

    2. If you still have access to your father's last Passport, obtain a copy of it.

    3. Obtain copy of your own Birth Certificate (which will show your father's name) and a Copy of your own Current Passport.

    4. Obtain UK Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration in your name as Executor.

    5. Get all UK Documents translated into Thai by a Court Certified Translator.

    6. Select a local fiduciary (Accountant/Lawyer) in the Province/Town of the Bank Account.

    7. Fly over here and collect the funds yourself.

All the best... life is simple, its people who make it complicated.

All of which is good sound advice - I would look closely at the suggestive nature of all the help responses and follow suit

I stand corrected - in order to simply transfer funds from his account to your account you would require the ATM bank card connected to his account - I apologize for my loss of sensible advise

  11. I agree with the other posts - fly in and take care this yourself - bring the death certificate and a copy your fathers will and/or court documents showing you’re the sole survivor and have been granted rights to his estate. Whatever documentation you have no matter how significant or insignificant you may think it is - Thailand is a confusing state of affairs and request the oddest documentation for transactions such as this.

Make at least 2 copies of your passport and have the Embassy notarize and endorse them.

Have the embassy notarize 2 copies of the death cert as well

request an affidavit stating that you are who you say you are you are, that you are the sole receiver of his estate, that you are in possession of a valid death cert and that you have the account number and password of his bank and your specific intentions are to access his bank with the correct passcode number to draw out the funds.

You must try and get as much validation from the embassy for each document as you can

Processing time for these things is typically fairly quick

It will cost you a good amount to have all these items either notarized or affidavits (BTW - you write the affidavits yourself and the embassy notarizes them - keep the affidavits short ansd simple leaving room for broad interpretation)

If this is a large bank balance - you could simply open your own bank account - this is also an excellent solution to your dilemma - open yourself a bank account and transfer it from your dads accoutn right from just about any ATM into your account [you stated you have the passcodes - right ?] - you cannot carry over 10,000.oo Euros back into the UK

    Bringing cash into the UK

If you bring €10,000 or more in cash, or the equivalent in another currency, to the UK from outside the European Union (EU) you must declare it.

    Cash includes:

    notes and coins

    bankers’ drafts

cheques of any kind (including travellers’ cheques)

If you’re travelling as a family you need to declare cash over €10,000.

Declaring cash to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)

1.Download and complete form C9011 ‘Cash declaration’ (PDF, 56KB) or get a copy at the port or airport.

2.Make a copy - if you fill in the form at the port or airport, it automatically makes a carbon copy, if you download and complete the form, print 2 copies.

3.Leave a copy in the drop-box at the port or airport and keep the other to show Custom Officers.

    Penalties

You could face a penalty of up to £5,000 if you don’t declare your cash or give incorrect information.

  12. [ In answer to your questions, my experience has been owning several retail businesses in the USA for 20 years , being a manufacturer's rep for NASCAR merchandise to stores, chains, casinos etc. ]

Can you get merchandise on the shelves of stores in Thailand? Marketing skill set and ability to build a solid customer base and maintain the product line with the clients, coordinate logistics and receivership of the imported products?

Please private message me with your reply.

  13. Koh Tao Sunshine Dive Resort - really great experience and people

rooms at Sunshine not much to stay in with no TV or otherwise any ammenities - basic - best to take a Ban Dive room - they have a partnership

although the smallish restaurant and bar on the beach in front of Sunshine is the greatest

  14. What mode of death-trap's are they proposing - vans, buses, (other ?)

More info is needed for whats being used to transport anyone I would tell about this new service.

Personaly - I have my own ride and cannot visualize being helplessly involved in one of the many horendous road accidents by using alternate transportation whether being train, car, bus or van - I would rather drive myself or fly.

Otherwise if I am not home to drive I always hire a private car or taxi car to transport my family places around Thailand with specific instructions to do the speed limit and take care driving.

    Thanks
