  1. Im hoping someone on the forum might be able to tell me if they have seen anything like this recently for sale.  I'd like to buy 100-150 pcs for a shop we are opening.  Ive talked to so many Rattan shops, but none so far have given me any positive answers or leads......  I can only find them online from Vietnam.....  50 thb a piece and min qty 200.....  a bit much me thinks.

Any assistance finding them in Thailand is greatly appreciated!!

  2. Good Morning all. I'd like to ask fellow forum members if any of you have memberships to the online UK Sunday TImes. There are 3 or 4 articles that are discussing Koh Mak, most from back around 2006. If anyone would be so kind as to maybe do a search and send me a copy of each I would certainly appreciate it, you can PM me for email specifics, I'm living on Koh Mak at the moment, and looking to see what info and how much press is out there about this place.

Yes, I guess I am too cheap for fork out the min of 20 pounds for 13 weeks, followed by a required confirmed received cancellation communication. If I can find a willing fellow, I will be forever grateful, and be in debt to them a beer at some future Thaivisa gathering, If I can't, Ill go suck it up and pay.

Hope to get some information back. Good karma to all, have a great day!

  3. Playing the stockmarket (which is legal btw) has a lot more gambling involved than a game of poker where skills far outweighs luck.

And skydiving provides for lots more risk, but neither provide for the connections that I was posting to find..... Friday poker night with da boyz.

    But thanks for the tip

  4. I play online instead, much safer.

Seriously, I meant getting together with the same (or a few of the same) guys a couple of time a month, getting to know one another's styles (and maybe a little about their life) downing a few beers eating some BBQ steaks (maybe), as the pizza here mostly sucks..... It ain't about money.

In any case, I think from the replies, I can see why it don't happen here too easily. I'll be back to canada in a month for a month, I'll get some time in then.

    Thanks for the replies.

  5. Reminds me of a funny moment a few months ago in Ao Nang, I was sitting enjoying a quiet beer on the beach with my gf (the Last Cafe for any who know the area), I hadn't been there for many years so was simply enjoying the views & quiet peaceful setting when all hell broke loose...out of nowhere at least 3 armed police pounced on a couple of Thais who were playing cards on the beach, the chap was roughly handcuffed while his lady friend made a run for it up the beach with the policeman in hot pursuit...just like a scene from the Keystone Cops :-) The Lady was duly caught and both 'criminals' proudly led away by the BIB!

I agree that Poker isn't quite the same without the stakes but the OP has made it clear he is just after the "camaraderie" or buzz that comes from the game and company (I also love it) so I also wish Quadman luck. p.s. I wouldn't recommend Ao Nang beach as a venue for all 530 of you though :-) (are you really hoping for another 529 players or was that a typo?)

Verbal dictation ...... Should have read 5 to 9

  6. looking to see if any of my fellow ex-pats living in BKK would like to get together for a weekly or maybe even biweekly game of hold'em. Nothing serious, just a little bit of downtime, having fun and enjoying conversation. could be sponsored at my place in Saphanmai, or at your place if you hold a more luxurious residence, or even a more centralized location for that matter. No steaks is fine, looking for the camaraderie that might come from it. 529 players would do it., Miss that kind of Friday evening at home.

  7. Most threads end up as a pissing contest, or the usual Thai bashing, how this forum has survived without being banned on Thai servers I'll never know.

The Daily Mail is banned, and ThaiVisa isn't.

I was thinking that to myself just yesterday.

The German beggar got it when he called Thai's stupid for helping/supporting him.....

May just be a matter of time.

  8. These guys are very good and reliable:

    http://www.mtt-pattaya.com/

If by good and reliable you mean that they don't answer emails, or answer the phone, in a 24 hour period, they're fantastic.

I emailed them on Monday regarding a flight that I need her on Wednesday to Malaysia , I marked it as urgent, I also added that I need another flight to Canada, and another flight to Malaysia, all within a two month period. Nada back from Guy.

    ......maybe he's traveling.

I have since heard back from Guy and have to say, very good service and very fair price for the season for BKK - YUL return..... I will be using him again, and again.....:)

  9. It's amazing how quickly the courts move when you don't have money.

Don't be so negative, have a Red Bull and enjoy your day!!whistling.gif
What did happen to the Red Bull founders grandson after killing that cop a few years ago?

Possibly, they paid the family enough to feel that they had vindication. I can understand that, if the family of the dead policemen are happy enough, why do they need to make the rest of us feel as though we have vindication against a crime that didn't affect us.

I know, this post will go and get attacked, but in reality if the family of the policemen the daughter happy, content, feel some vindication, then that's enough. The reality is he can never come back.

  10. It's amazing how quickly the courts move when you don't have money.

Quite, I don't particularly agree with the death sentence in general but if its in law, then whom am I to dispute the decision.

Amazing how quick the wheels of justice have worked in this case in comparison to other recent murder cases, eg the Channel 3 star caught on camera shooting a mate in the head point blank among others.

I don't agree with the death penalty either and I doubt it will be carried out. It's a bit hypocritical anyway for a supposedly Buddhist country.

Nothing can bring the girl back but so long as he's somewhere he can't be a danger to anyone else then that's a good result as far as I'm concerned. If he serves life, or anywhere near it, if he lives to a good age he's going to be in there for a long time to think about the effect his moment of pleasure will have on the rest of his life as well as that of his victim and her family and friends.

I was thinking about the case you mention a few weeks ago. Anyone know how that's going?

He's 22 years old, if he simply serves life, I'm sure he'll find many opportunities to smile again during his stay, she never will.

He deserves to be razor cut and coated with honey and left on the beach for fire ants to do their job.

  11. thailand is no longer affordable to the average farang they are raising prices on everything.

    You must be joking!!

they are and if you say they arent you should have come here 5 years ago to see how things have changed.

have lived here since 2003 & visited since 1997. If Thailand isn't affordable you might want to try living in a park back home.

    Excellent response...... Love it!

    Cheap Charlie's abound aren't there!

  12. Who the hell care what they charge, they don't want to take you to any destination they think will have some traffic. Saturday 6 taxis refused my wife to go to Mochit BTS from Kasetsart University. Law or no law they still refuse you.

Anytime I've had a cabbie refused to take me where I want to go, and it's urgent for me to go, I simply offered him 50 thb more than it would've been on the meter. I've never been refused using that approach.

It's still so so so much cheaper than it is in the west.

Let them hike up the price, earn a decent daily wage, and still pay a fraction of what were used to paying at home.

Ever take a taxi from Munich airport to anywhere, or New York to Newark? It can be a real fortune.

    Good on them I say.
