Wow, another brainstorm from those who can't be touched or spoken of.
Won't work, can't enforce it. 7/11 might ban selling of cigs to those under 20, but local shops and on the street you can buy anything you want.
it will never happen...same as training people to drive...stopping people from drinking...stop burning in the north...etc..etc...but it's ok..i luv this country...

My comment is simple...I love Thailand, but I am always in fear for my life on the road here....enough said...

after getting blindsided from behind on my 650, a thai lady walked up to me and just shook her head, and in english replied...when will farangs learn how to drive...huhu...

The land of eternal optimists:
"The move is an effort to achieve the Transport Ministry's policy to reduce the number of accidents to nearly zero."
TIT
The policy number ( ZERO ) 5555555555555555555555555. has it just occured to the ministry they ought to be doing something. better thinking for them would be rip up all the roads-and go back to stage one-oxen carts -wooden wheels. FOR GODS SAKE....enforcement of the laws. I would think we all get pigged off with all these new style -ideas. Where the hell do the majority get the money to pay for driving lessons, The police have time, They are brilliant ambassadors of the road, They can teach for free. !!

I owned a thai boxer 250 for over a year...was a great bike, i rode it from chiang mai all over north thailand, as well as far south...i added better tires, bought a small box built in thailand, changed to better more upright handlebars, and rode 2 my hearts content...i moved up to kawasaki er6n, but would sell it just to go back to the 250....

I think he's talking out of his arse. Typical non-sensicle statement that you can always count on a high-level Thai civil servant to make on most occasions. I agree, it should do wonders to help slag-off all the million dollar "villas" for sale to silly foreigners who were thinking about buying in Phuket.
With unintellegent fools like this in high office, its no wonder that Thailand is slowly going downhill. And although its only my guess, i bet that he is of Chinese decent ?????
give enough money to family for sin sod when marrying, then family can give the money, and purchase the land...you cannot win here in thailand if your farang, it just rarely ever happens..

It is not important to remove the filthy dog from the restaurant while I eat, but a thai person is offended because a person doesn't wear a shirt...Welcome to Thailand

I always thought you could do stuff around your own home without any problems....for example working in the garden or painting something. Am I wrong?
The other day I was shoveling some stuff around the yard and the BIB cruised by, stopped & chatted with me.....they didnt say anything but were rather amused that a farang knew how to use a shovel....they told me they thought that back in my home country that I would of had thai people digging holes for me ....they were highly amused when I told them that in farangland we actually build our own houses, paint, work in the garden, clean etc.
To make matters worse, I'm not actually living in the house yet because we are making renovations etc before moving in.
Is someone suggesting they might come back and arrest me for what I was doing ....you've got to be joking, right?
I also clean my motorcycle regularly, clean the house....as I am sure most people do?? Whats the go?
I watched farang play guitar in silom the other day, police watch him, look in hat, no money..Police went onwards..no payoff, not worth the sweat..I live in thailand, have learned nothing is fair, you have no rights..so with that in mind, best to be lazy do nothing, buy nothing...works for me

Above post is old information - all reporting now must be made to your local office - it has been reported that Nong Khai will accept mail in reports; but seems to discourage it.
be sure to obtain a re-entry permit, or you will have to go through the ropes of getting a new visa.

I did a search on this forum regarding my question but found conflicting results so I will post my question in the hope I can have a correct answer.
I got a Non O retirement visa stamp on 12 december 2008 which expires 11 march 2009 and and an extension of stay which is valid untill 11 march 2010.In my passport the immigration attached a piece of paper with the information that I have to notify again for my first time on 11 march 2009.
I would like to find out exactly which documents, copy's,eventual amount of pictures etc. i wll need to provide on this day of notification.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
I have same visa...you will of course need to take your passport, all you have to do is fill out a form with address of where you are in thailand..but new rule, you can only do this in the province you live in now, use to be you could do at any thai immigration...so, if you live in chiang mai, of course can only do in chiang mai, bangkok, bangkok etc...
