My GF is 34 and had a poor upbringing and was sent off to be raised by an aunt because there were too many children in the family.
To the best of my knowledge she was never raped by a local policeman - but she has cremated her father, younger sister, her younger sister's son and her own son.
After her divorce she eventually found her way to Pattaya and was lucky enough to meet, err........ me.
She is not putting on a red shirt (unless for reasons of fashion) and she is certainly not going to Bangkok.
She seems to think a mass protest, with the associated risk of violence, is a bad thing for her country. She worries what people will think of her country if we see scenes similar to the Pattaya or Songkran riots. She even worries how the reputation of her King might be viewed by outsiders. She worries that "everytime Thai fight Thai, Cambodia does something against Thailand".
So she is not going.
She believes that Thai people should sit down and speak to each other. She believes that she can achieve more by voting than protesting.
There is no self-pitying, there is no aggression towards the ruling/controlling elite - just a pride and passion for her country that she does not wish to sullied by petty squabbling that pitches Thai against Thai.
I am very pleased I met her, and not Ning.
Well said mate

A lot of Thai's believe noise scares away the ghosts and bad spirits.
Must be why my Thai neighbours have the TV/stereo so loud!

That couldn't POSSIBLY be true, flyinghigh. The dog lovers here have informed us that it is OUR fault if we get bitten.
As far as animals not attacking and killing for fun... that is a bunch of BS. Cats torture and kill their prey all the time and without ever eating what they've killed. Dogs do it all the time to smaller animals... for no other reason than blood lust. Dogs will chase and kill deer and sheep without any intention of eating what they've killed. I could go on and on what I know for a fact about dogs, but I'll leave it at that.
mmmmmmm, I guess it depends on the owner ,as to whose fault it is , IT WAS NOT MY FAULT .....This owner was good enough to admit blame

Interesting post...I got bit by a big thai dog ,last oct. ,I was walking past a house at the end of my soi ,the thai owners were moving house ,the dog was always barking and growling when ever i walked past ,but the owners seem to keep it under control ,. There was a big truck being loaded up with furniture ,and i did not see the dog ,the gates were open ,all of a sudden it came from behind ,took two bites out of the back of my leg ,the thai lady owner came running out ,shouting at the dog, i was in a lot of pain ,man it f**king hurt, blood pouring out of the wound ,anyway her son took me to hospital (Pattaya Memorial),seven stiches later ,a tetnus booster ,and the first of many anti rabies injections , The bill came to 4000 bart ,which my TG gave to her ,she paid the bill , however ,i had to go back the next day for wound cleaning , it had got infected ,so they kept me in for four days, .The total bill came to 40000 bart ,but my accident insurance (siam comm. bank(covered it ,I was told by my TG ,and my thai neighbours ,i could go to the police ,and have the dog destroyed .....they have now moved away ,she was very upset ,and i did not want to cause problems for these people, excuse the pun ,but i wanted to let sleeping dogs lie!.....It f**ked up two weeks of my time here ,and i was not out of pocket ,but i am now very wary of dogs .....be care full out there.

Where is Al-Jazeera? I like that channel!
It is listed as being on channel 51...but 51 on my TV reveals just another Indian music channel and not Al-Jazeera.
I, too, like Al-Jazeera...that and BBC are by far the best news channels!
Also missing, from Sophon's new listing is the Asia News channel from Singapore.
Yes i have lost channel news asia, and Al-jazeera, any one know why?

Yes that's it, i knew it was ' el ' something. What lovely food it was !!!!
Yep, El Toro has pretty decent steaks, but the ambiance is a bit poor...too many tables crammed in.
So...we still don't know about the El Paso Steakhouse. I drove by a couple of times and thought...if someone on TV would recommend it, I might give it a try....
My brother and his mate over the other week ,had breakfast in there ,very good,....eaten three times now..owner friendly as well...does thai food as well

Here we go again!.....we have a week of this, roll on the 19th ...then let the fun begin!

In CMai, I just renewed mine 3 months in advance for the 5-year auto and m/c. I simply asked while checking my m/c registration and the lady checked my licences then said come in that afternoon about 20 mins before the 1300 exam (twice daily at 08:00 or 13:00), to fill in the application forms. Great service! Thais and farangs together do the depth perception, color, reaction and field of view practical tests, then our Thai friends do the computer exam while farangs listen thru an hour-plus-vdo on Thai Road Safety.
thanks guys,,,,,at last some positive feed back
