1. Good job. I kind of feel bad for the veteran on overstay but the theft charge makes me feel otherwise.

    <snip>

    a veteran of 29 years ??

Correct citicens work today until 65 !!

29 age to live from the state is for me a parisite !!

I'm also 29 and a veteran...veterans have no relation to retirement, but I can see how you can make that mistake when you don't serve your country. Please enlighten us with your life accomplishments. wink.png

Also, apparently asking "How do 22 Nigerians fit into a condo?" is a racist comment... If I ask how do 22 Canadians fit into a condo, is that racist too ? Or does it only apply to non-whites? The censoring here is the racism...

When I responded to a poster calling the accused 'scum of the earth' my post was removed, yet keyboard warriors, old jaded bigoted and cynical pensioners can make all sorts of lousy, uninformed comments on here. Rarely will I visit thaivisa any longer. My last post contributed to telling the story of one of the accused whom I saw in and out of 7/11 often. Guess my contribution wasn't keyboard warrior/racist/I'm better than you enough?

Maybe at 33 I am not one of the types featured in 'My thai bride' enough?

This site has really, really gone downhill over the years, along with many of the particularly old posters/trollers/hecklers.

Some just do 2 or 4 years active duty. Nowhere did it say unemployed. Easy to see who the parasites are: plenty on thaivisa!

  3. I'm surprised at just how clueless the USA has been about Thai politics and what goes on here (I'm American). Our foreign policy towards Thailand seems tone deaf.

Maybe it's because the US ambassador never had to walk through a protest site where someone had just thrown a hand grenade the day before and killed innocent bystanders...? The military cleaned the site up within a week after the coup. Now if they can just do something about the tuk-tuk drivers.

Its because on the world stage, there is little impact from Thailand, and they offer the world little. So the US priorities are elsewhere, and that is just the truth. Who is ranting and raving about SE asia countries in the USA? Not too many really.

  4. 'The incident brings to mind "The Ugly American", a film made more than 50 years ago during the cold war. It portrayed America's arrogant behaviour towards a third-world country.'

Arrogance is a two way street.

The author of this piece needs to think on their own attitudes.

Ugly, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

    And as for this

"If the US continues to practise double standards in its foreign policy and to display its "Ugly American" attitude, Thais have the right to say enough is enough. Times have changed. The US should learn to treat other countries on equal terms."

Double standards? Treating others as equals?

    Hilarious.

Pure projection and/or hypocrisy at the same time on unprecedented levels! Hilarious author.

  5. Musing aloud, could it be that Yingluck is rather more interested in politics than many here believe, and has calculated that a spell in (what may be a not too uncomfortable) prison may be very good for her political future?

Certainly the worst thing for the Junta would be an Internationally and domestically recognised political martyr.

With their stumbling and bumbling they have probably done that already. And the lady is becoming a major thorn in their side.

    Without actually doing anything!

As a result of doing absolutely nothing in office except prance around, she was wrecking the country turning a blind eye to graft left, right and center.

  6. This should never ever ever have been allowed to happen. The embassy and the foreign office of the USA should be very embarrassed about this.

If they are going to have meetings like this they may as well just come out and declare that the NLA and the junta are not legitimate.

I know thaksin used to kiss it up and keep it alive with business and trade; but there is no need for this at this point in time. PTP is done, they deserved getting caught, and there ain't any need to go suck it up with sob stories of family fiefdom tears.

  7. Can anyone explain the "logic" in not allowing alcohol sales between 2pm and 5pm? What is its purpose? What is is supposed to achieve? You can't stop off and have a beer on the way to pick the kids up from school?

It doesn't apply to bars so, don't worry, you can still get tanked up to collect your children

The policy, though a farce, came into restriction of sales 2 to 5 to stop kids from boozing after school, when they thought they were most inclined to do so, just after school. (I think they're more inclined to booze in the evening at home with their old man & family etc).

  8. No theft?!!! what do you call the disappearance of billions of baht when they were in power 'overseeing' the rice scheme? what is your explanation?

what billions? you obviously believe everything you read as for farming SUBSIDIES go look up EU CAP and US policies on farming

and you obviously don't do any reading! the 600 billion there that everyone wants to know about. you gonna deny that too? and for what personal benefit?

US and Europe? <deleted>? totally unrelated system and nothing to do with the topic...only less graft in those regions from liege lord oligarchies!

  9. How dare anyone suggest she did anything wrong.

This scheme supported Thailand's rural poor. Didn't they all get rich from this scheme after all? There was nothing wrong with it. And why can't the Shins take what they want from the government, they were in charge at the time.

When will you silly little people realize Thailand is just another Shin piggy bank. To be raided when they want to build family wealth.

The farmers love them and even if they got robbed, it's must have been that evil Abhasit who did it.

Can you please leave Yingsy alone to get on with her shopping.

Criminal can support the poor too.

Didn't Robin Hood punished for his crime or something?

Robin Hood reportedly stole from the rich and gave to the poor farmers.

The Shins reportedly stole from the rich, the poor farmers and kept it themselves.

    See the difference?

'reportedly stole' any EVIDENCE? no??? then stop repeating the lie if it is TRUE then where are the documents? bank statements? witness statements? and where is the COURT CASE? there isn't one because there is NO evidence because there was no theft

No theft?!!! what do you call the disappearance of billions of baht when they were in power 'overseeing' the rice scheme? what is your explanation?

  10. ..../ He said that before the purchase he had checked all the documents and found they were legally proper. He insisted he didn’t know Mr Kittisak Matthujad, the fugitive key suspect in the embezzlement case, in person and didn’t know the car belong to Kittisak...../

If he checked the documents before buying , how could he miss the owner name K. Kittimak in the blue Book and after saying he did not know the car belonged to Kittisak ?

Exactly. His lying skills are about as brilliant as his acting skills.
