  1. I made the move last year, sold my condo in central Pattaya and moved into a house on the "Dark Side". I've not had any problems so far. There is actually quite a lot to do out there and I am a lot more active since moving from the city. As my ex-wife says.......Once you go Black, you never go back!

  2. Is it a big money issue? Presumably so if you are suing.

(I'm politely asking how much are you talking about!)

I’m not going to go on a one sided rant but it was a substantial amount of money for me but more to point it was the way that I was treated. You only have to see some of the recent positioning by one of their members calling people “Idiots”. How unprofessional is that, this is the calibre of people that they are.

  3. I had a serious problem involving a member of this group. I did threaten them with a complaint to the REBA ES board but they pretty much laughed in my face as they ARE one of the board members. Proves a point though, how can an organisation that is self governing ever be a legitimate or official organisation? I'm pretty sure that this would be illegal in most other countries where corruption is frowned upon. Anyway, more fool me. In the mean time I have been to take my case to a lawyer and will have to wait and see the outcome.

  4. I will be happy to be a guinea pig. I will go and have a look, if it's any good I will let you know.

have you had a chance to check it out?

I've looked into it and tried to speak to some people that have had it done, also met a few people that have had gastric surgery. All look like a quick fix and I'm still thinking about it but will wait for a while. I recently brought a house on the Darkside, there is a gym not far from my door step so I've been trying the old fashioned way. I've had some help with a personal trainer (which I said I'd never do again after my califorina wow nightmare) and have lost a bit of weight. Not a lot but I suppose it's taken years to put on so it's not going to happen over night. The main thing is that I feel a lot better both physically and mentally.

I will give it 6 months and if there is no drastic improvement I will probably go for the gastric procedure, guaranteed results rather than the laser which seems to be a lot of inconvenience for variable results.

  5. What gets me is the Farang owned places that charge Farangs more than they charge Thais!!!

I go out of my way not to go to them.

Yes...we should get a list going. I have seen other threads wanting to list Thai businesses that practise dual pricing. Let's have a list of known farang places that also do the same :)

That sounds like an excellent idea. There should be a forum, website or some other public information board with a list of places that have duel pricing and also another list of their competition that do not charge you more depending on the colour of your skin.

I would be more than happy to support the honest businesses rather than feed the greed!

  6. Yeah right...Because if there's anyone you can trust in Thailand it's a Policeman or Government official :) .

There probably will be a nice welcoming comity for the winner if they happen not to be of Thai Nationality. Anybody remember what happened to the Kenyan marathon runners in Pattaya? Just so happened that the first and second place runners were disqualified allowing the 3rd place runner to be awarded the win. Guess where she came from???

  7. Today I passed an advertising sign for Louis Tussaud which I presumed to show Angelina Jolie in the pose from her last film. The only thing was that it looks more like a transvestite that has made only a half assed effort to put his make up on, with a jawline like a Texan chewing a mouth full of tobacco!

    Ah...Pattaya. Always good for a laugh! :)

  8. Personally I agree that Pirate Copies should be controlled but how can you control anything when the people responsible for inspecting are more corrupt than the pirates copying the CD’s.

Are you telling me that high up people don’t have interests in Tuk Com? It’s been the main source of counterfeit goods for a long time and will continue to be for a long time.

But then again, I suppose the people behind the supply probable have something to do with the inspectors somewhere along the line.

Yet another way to extort money from people, whatever next. I feel sorry for anyone with a business in Thailand, I don’t know how they can operate with the constant threat of been racketed by the music and software “Cosa Nostra”. Not to mention the usual local friendly civil servants looking for their tea money.

A bit off topic but wouldn’t it be nice to see the authorities supporting local businesses instead of the blatant money making schemes that seem to always be going on, especially in these hard times.

  9. I would love to see these Thai door staff attempt to work in a European, Australian or American city were the customers outnumber the bouncers by hundreds to 1. I'm no tough guy but these cowards can't even fight properly, they just jump in with a sneaky blow when the victim is not looking. It would be great to see one of these dogs try to have a one on one fight with someone, they would crap their pants for sure.

I had look at the you tube video and followed a few other links, every "Fight in Thailand" clip was a group of Thai guys ganging up on someone. Not one of two people having a fight. What's wrong with these people?

  10. I am by no means an expert on gyms but I can say that I was very disappointed with this place. I ended up paying over 25 000 for joining and personal training. The first one was ok but when I paid in full they completely lost interest with me and must have moved on to the next sucker.

    First time in Thailand NO

    Do I feel stupid YES

  11. Thanks for the info. I am going to have a look at all the options before doing anything. The Bariatric Surgery sounds a bit off putting. As for me

How old are you? = Too old

How much do you weigh? = Too much

How tall are you? = Standing up or sitting down

How active are you? = I use my computer every day

But seriously, I think I am an average middle aged guy. I don't drink excessively and I don't really eat junk food. I think that I do not do enough exercise but I find it very difficult to go to a gym. I have been to California Wow and all they did was bleed me dry. The personal training person that I had really did not help me much, as soon as he has the cash out of me he seemed to lose interest and the things he was making me do were a bit too much for me. I tried Tonys gym but I did not like the atmosphere. I do not to want to sound like a wimp but the place was very claustrophobic and intimidating for a fat fart like me. There were a couple of older guys like me but it's not really a place to mingle.

So that put my sporting attempt to an end.

I think am going to try the natural way for another month then consider the Lipo. I don't I could face getting cut open to get a knot tied in my belly.

If anybody needs some free grease let me know, will probably have a few buckets full next month! :)

  12. If there is no sinister reason for them doing it then they definitely should be applauded. Unfortunately in my opinion they are in it to look good and maybe to get some visa perks. I met them on walking street once and from the videos they just look like a bunch of wana be's. The ladies in Phuket on the other hand came across as genuine. Maybe I'm wrong?

  13. I have tried dieting. I have tried exercising but I think I am just too old to do anything about it and I don't want to spend the last few years of my active life looking like fat fart. Does anybody know where to get liposuction in Pattaya? And what it costs if it is at all possible?

    Thank you

  14. I have recently put my condo for sale with the agents in Pattaya, mixed impressions and there did not seem to be a set commission fee

    East Coast 5%

    Alan Bolton 5 %

    Pattaya Realty 5 %

    Farang Property 3 %

    Soho Property 3 %

    Town and country property 5%

    CCR Property 3%

    Paragon Property 5 %

I think that 5 % is too much but if it sells my property I suppose it is worth it in the end. As long as I get what I want they can charge whatever they want. ho and by the way none of them have sold my condo yet so I am going to put it on TV classifieds and see if that does anything.

  15. Any TV member know where the r/c plane club is situated?

    Thanks.

On my travels on the Darkside I passed a R/C plane shop with a huge field, lots of people playing with their toys. At top end of soi khao noi, in between the red lion pub and the temple on the corner you will see the small shop with bars on the window and lot of models hanging up. I've never been into that kind of thing but I've got to say that those planes move like hel_l. Would like to give it a try now that I don't anything to do all day. Is it difficult to pick up?

  16. Thanks Syd, good Information.

Skate; if you like to spend 10 times( or 100 times) the amount of money for your food, thats fine, but keep the fxxk out of this thread. We dont need to hear your opinion. What are you doing in Thailand anyway, you should stay in Monaco, Geneva or other nice Locations, there you dont have to read stuff like this. Should you be unlucky and run out of money later on, Denner is the Super Market in Switzerland where you get Beer a lot cheaper then in any 7/11.

    Next

Sorry if I upset you Oliver Twist. I would love to chat but I'm off to Monaco for breakfast, followed by lunch in Geneva. All this on my private jet that lands at my luxury penthouse in Nirun condo.

  17. If you walk down Soi Xzyte (Soi Drarin) from either end, at just about half way, you cannot fail to notice the blackboard sign of 'Lek's place'; it is a small roadside diner offering all nature of Thai/quasi Chinese meals at low prices 35-40 baht on a plate with a smile.

Highly recommended! Check it out! :D

    Hey big spender!!!

Why don't you wash it down with a nice bottle of beer chang from 7 11 while you are there. :)

  18. And so it just so happened that the next runner up happened to be Thai. Probably a Taxi-Motorbike driver disguised as a race official with a cup of water, same kind of set up as the Thai girl jumping on the back of a motorbike just in time to get pulled for not wearing a helmet! :)

"The women's race was marred by controversy when the top three Kenyan runners to cross the line, including the winner Pamela Jemeli Kipchage, were later disqualified after it was discovered they took on water from an unauthorized drinks stop. This handed victory in the race to Thailand's Sunisa Sai-lomyen, a past multiple winner of this event, who this year finished in a time of 2:49:35. Another Kenyan athlete, Truphena Jepchumba Kurui, took the runner up award with a time of 2:52:33."

  19. There is a good chance that I will be moving over to the Dark Side soon so I have been having a good look around, managed to find some of the places mentioned above. Must say I was surprised on what I found, plenty of resto's cafes and a bit of night life. Even managed to find a gym, couldn't find a cinema but I'm sure that will come in time. I did take a look at some very good deals on houses, the only thing that's bothering me now is about safety in this area.

What's the general feeling about the area, is it as bad as everyone says? I only went around on my motorbike in the day time but I can't say that I felt threatened at all. Maybe they come out at night!

Also I passed the "Villa" supermarket but did not go inside, anyone know if this is an imported goods type shop?
