Having finally come to an agreement and ended a Thai Marriage after months of Headaches,
upon sealing the Divorce at a Local Ampur Office and coming out Certificate in Hand.. If one
wanted to marry again in the near future, is their a 3 or 6 month compulsory gap between the
Divorce and Legal Registration of a New Marriage.....?

I was in Laos for a New Visa last week, the Consulate Staff was making the effort to go through
everyones Passport and pointing out if they'd had too many consecutive tourist visas. I can see
their point in some ways, but for some who are in the lucky situation of being able to stay for long
stints - surely it benefits the country to receive the Revenue....
Maybe they should just Increase the Requirements and Data before they issue the Visa.............

I resent the remark made by you ' anyway you people can afford it'!! How dare you be so patronising!
The rate of 150baht charge is a high fee to withdraw money, and seems to be aimed at foreigners who need to regularly use the ATM to access their overseas accounts.

International fee is beyond Bank of Thailand jurisdiction.
Anyway, you people can afford it.

or the charge they make you pay for changing small change into notes, and the fee i was once charged for paying in 3000 baht in small change into my account, apparently to pay for the time and energy taken to count the money that was already counted and bagged ready for the teller to put it on their money scales.

I wonder if they will identify the 150b international transaction ATM fee as being unfair?!...somehow I think not!
Well Put.......! How anyone can be that ignorant to assume that it's fair for Travellers and Ex-pats to pay out
150 Baht because "We can afford It" needs to remove their head from where the Sun Doesn't Shine...........

You can do that or you can extend each entry 30 days making almost six months with one border crossing. But you have to make second entry before the expiration date of the visa itself.
Meaning that I can go to Immigration at the end of the 1st 60, get a 30 Day ext,
then do a Border Bounce at Nong Khai and repeat the whole procedure...
(Not wanting to sound Naive, but don't want to get it wrong....)

Afternoon Chaps.
Was at the Thai Embassy in Laos 3 weeks ago to get a Tourist Visa giving
another 60 + 30 Days when I was advised by a fellow ex-pat to get a Double
as they were Free. With 2 entries does this mean leaving after 60, doing a
Border U-Turn and getting another 60 or what....?

Does anyone know if the "Phitsanulok" Immigration is open yet....?
Been driving to "NAN" every few months, it's a long trip to nowhere...

Awkward scenario.
Having been married and living in Thailand for 5+ years and in Spain before that,
having a Thai born daughter now holding a British Passport and having taken both
wife and daughter to the U.K. last year - How does one qualify for settlement if
having No Property or Financial Assets in the U.K......?
Would a healthy Thai Bank balance be sufficient and if so, how much would the
British Embassy look for you to have.....?
-
Will forward all advice, Thanks...
You'd think that even Thailand would welcome such a gesture, especially
to an area with no European teachers. Was told that if he took a letter
from the school to Immigration stating clearly that he was giving his time
for no financial reward that he'd be covered.
Didn't want to be punished for doing a good deed..... Ce La Vie.....

On behalf of a friend without Internet.
In the case of someone enjoying a long time out from the U.K. and
staying in Nakhon Nowhere with his girlfriend. When asked if you're
interested in part-time teaching at a school in one of the countrys
poorer provinces - how do you stand with immigration, with letter
from the school does it give you automatic extention........
If the school does not get him a work permit he is working ilegally.
Though giving his time, for No salary, He's still breaking the law.....?

Thanks for all the advice, wasn't sure about doing 3 border runs in a row but if you're
permitted that then it'll be that or a tourist visa in Vientianne.
Good show chaps, I am in your debt....
Personally I would go for the Tourist Visa. One trip and it is over and done with.
Will do.... My thoughts were going the same way.
Gives me a night in Nong Khai to, the drive from here
to there making it nearly impossible to submit papers
in Laos by 12.00. Good place for a wander - Nong khai.
A good idea to get to Vientienne really early. Then you do not get stranded and have to go back the next day.
Hello again, just a up-date....
Having been given advice about "Nan" and never having been there, I made the
choice to visit Laos and get a 60 day tourist visa - went alone and took all papers
marriage and otherwise. Driving towards the friendship Bridge i drove passed Nong
Khai Immigration Office, thought - wouldn't hurt to ask.....
14 minutes later and 1900 Bt... I walked out with a 60 Day extention.....
The place was empty and the staff were excellent, was home same day..........
Just goes to show that "visa stories" aren't always "horror stories....."

Having checked out "Nan" on a map and read the other threads
on the matter, sounds like a nightmare. If i went to Laos and
applied for a 60 day tourist visa, would they have the hump as
i'll have had 44 days in thai already or can I (am i aloud) to do
2 more border bounces of 15 days each, taking me up to my
planned date of departure.
Don't know "Nan" and know Nong Khai / Laos very well.....
You can go to Vientienne and get a Tourist Visa. No problem and they are free of charge. Or you can do 2 border runs . Up to you.

Apply for a 60 day extension from Immigration 1,900 Baht.
This is from the Police Order 2009.
2.24 In the case of an alien
visiting a Thai spouse or child:
Permission
will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time
(1) Proof of relationship.
(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de
jure (legitimate) and de facto.
Good Stuff....
I heard that you have to go to an immigration according to where
you live. I live in Phetchabun, Bangkok is the closest but some say
I should go elsewhere.. Nong Khai is only a 4 hour drive...

Wife is Thai, registered married for 7-8 years.
Both sons (born in Thai, to us) carry British and
Thai passports. So, can immigration help or is it
another Laos trip...

Hello All.
I've been a married part/time resident in Thailand for over 8 years,
happily settled up country with 2 sons. Work has been a bit touch
and go recently and has caused me to foul up on my visa.
I came back into Thai in early Feb expecting a 4 week stay before
a new work contract in the U.K. so, i came in on a 30 day stamp...
Extended dates then lead me to do a 15 day Nong Khai / Laos trip
to the border. I'm now informed that my next job starts on 15 Apr
giving me an additional 28 days here without a stamp. Do i do more
border bounces, do i go into Laos for a tourist visa or is there some
service that immigration can help with. I've got all papers, including
proof of departure in april etc..... Anyone give me a pointer......
Divorced, But Father Of 3 Sons.... Visa......?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I'm very recently Divorced after 9-10 Years, being the Father of 3
Thailand Born Sons (each holding British & Thai Passports) does
this enable me to Obtain & Remain in Thailand with "Non-Imm-O"
Visa status as it is still "Visiting Family".....?
Or must I become a Tourist..........
