Hi, I have a house, which I have been living in for the last 2 years near Robinson's, Chalong, and over this time I have had 4 tradesmens in to fix our leaky roof. Some have been back many times. The last time, it leaked so bad our ceiling caved in and dropped into the kitchen.. It is leaking mainly from the gutter, (which was totally replaced) in a couple of places. It does have corrugated concrete asbestos roof which if I could find someone competent to remove it and replace the roof I would be happy to do that. I know when it is disturbed it can be a health hazard. This roofing material is just over the kitchen in the back of the house, and over the verandah/carport in front of the house. Also any suggestions of what is a good option to replace them with. I would like to renovate the kitchen but not until I know the leaking is 100% fixed. Thanks in advance.. Any roofing repair people you can personally recommend would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Ok, don't jump to conclusions too fast. If he was passing them and he knew they were fake, then he was stupid, but what is his explanation? I had just arrived in Cambodia and on the way back to my hotel from the airport, I got the taxi driver to stop at an ATM. I withdrew $300. $100 US x3. I stopped at a pharmacy and bought something so that I could pay the taxi driver. I then went to my hotel and had a rest for a couple of hours. I went to eat and paid for my meal with $100US note. The waiter returned and pointed it out to me it was a copy note. I looked and couldn't believe what I was seeing, thinking that he must have switched the note on me. I pulled out my 3rd $100 note from my wallet, and to my suprise it too was a copy note. I didn't now where the ATM was that we stopped at. I did know the name of the bank by the slip. I contacted my bank and explained what had happened, the bank I withdrew from denied that I had got them from their ATM, I couldn't prove that I received them. I used Citibank Australia debit card to withdraw them. Noone would accept liability. I was stuck with them. I did some searching and found that I was not the only one this had happened to. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g293939-i9162-k12586904-o20-Canadia_bank_ATM_fake_notes_100_Bills-Cambodia.html https://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowTopic-g293940-i9551-k15287209-Fake_100_bills_Phnom_Penh_Anyone_else_face_this-Phnom_Penh.html https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/viewtopic.php/topic30191-40.html?forum_uri=&start=40&t=30191 Many more links are there if you look. There is only one other explanation that while I was sleeping at my hotel, someone broke into my room and swapped my good notes for the copy ones. I think this was almost impossible..If that didn't happen, then I definately got them from a bank ATM. They felt perfect to me and one side is exactly as a real note is, the other side has copy written on it, not obvious unless you are looking for it. I always worried that I did pass one to the pharmacy and I could have been charged. When I told my story, noone wanted to believe me. They said you can't get a copy note through an ATM. I know what happened, so do many other people that this has happened to. As this guy argued with the money changer, I wondered, did they point it out to him it said it was for "motion picture use only" I later discovered with much searching that in Cambodia the copy $100 notes are used in a religious ceremony. In Cambodia, a counterfeit $100 US note used in a religious ceremony would not have any real financial value. While it may be used in rituals or ceremonies where money is symbolically offered, it's not intended for actual monetary transactions. It's important to note that using counterfeit money for any purpose, including religious ceremonies, can have legal consequences, even if the intention is not fraudulent. Here's a more detailed explanation: No Financial Value: Counterfeit currency has no intrinsic financial value. It cannot be used to purchase goods or services, nor can it be exchanged for real currency. Symbolic Use in Ceremonies: In some religious ceremonies, money may be used symbolically, such as in offerings or rituals. These ceremonies may use mock money or counterfeit bills for this purpose, according to the Bangkok Post. Distinction from Mock Money: It's crucial to distinguish between genuine mock money designed for ceremonial use and counterfeit currency intended for illegal purposes. While some religious ceremonies may use mock money, counterfeit bills are typically not meant for that purpose and are often used in deceptive transactions. This happened to me back in about 2010, and looks like it is still happening now. So beware. If you do a search of images of Cambodia copy $100 note you will see it isn't obvious unless you look closely. How many people check notes they withdraw from an ATM that it isn't fake.. Noone I would think, unless you knew of this happening or it had happened to you before.. Some people say they feel different, I really wouldn't have picked it, as I had never felt a new $100 US note. They felt pretty good to me.

Phuket Police Implement New Anti-Drug Strategy: 35 Arrests Made
aussiebrian replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Thaksin's last war on drugs led to officially 2873 deaths including whole families and children. Unofficially, the numbers was more like 5,500. Duturtes numbers of deaths in his war on drugs make Thaksin's war look like a school yard fight. Maybe much safer to educate and decriminalise or legalise drugs. -
4 Israeli men fined for causing chaos at hospital in Mae Hong Son

There isn't very much there I can agree with you on. Criticism of Israel is not necessarily anti-semitic, but is often used to mask some peoples anti-Semitism. As if you have 100 Jewish friends and 99 out of the 100 don't agree with Israel supposedly bombing the s*** out of Gaza. I call that out as total BS. Approximately one civilian to one terrorist has been killed in the most difficult urban warfare in history. The lowest rate of civilian deaths ever in Urban combat. That is even using Hamas figures. Have you ever heard of a country that has been at war with another country especially after being attacked, feeding the country that they are at war with? What happens to that food Israel lets into Gaza? HAMAS Steals it at the sells it back to the so-called Palestinians at exorbitant prices to help fund their war. 23% of the people living in Israel aren't Jewish. 20% are Muslim. Muslims that were in Israel were also brutally murdered along with the Jews. Muslims also fight in the IDF. THEY ARE NOT CONSCRIPTED. THEY VOLUNTEER. People of 40 nationalities were kidnapped and murdered at the Nova festival. How on earth can you say Judaism is based on Islam? This shows your naivety. Judaism is over 3000 years old. Christianity is just over 2,000 years old. Islam is 1300 years old. I think you should say Islam has stolen many beliefs from Judaism, and warped them. Definitely they never took any of the ethics from Judaism. Where do you think the ten commandments came from? Islam? Christianity? How many times have you been to Israel? I doubt you you even know any Jews? So you want to reward The Barbarians who murdered, raped, beheaded, burned babies alive in front of their parents after the terrorists had cut off the parents breasts and penises in front of their children rewarded with a state? Israel-handed Gaza to the Philistines in 2005 for peace. IMMEDIATELY THEY STARTED FIRING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL. Have you read the HAMAS charter? https://irp.fas.org/world/para/docs/880818a.htm There are 48 Muslim countries, with a population of 1.8 billion. There is one Jewish country Israel with the population of 10 million. 7 milliona Jews. The only democratic country in the Middle East, when minorities can live in peace. The Jewish population hasn't even increased to the point pre WW2. In 1948 the so-called Palestinian population in Israel was 700,000. There are now over 6 million Palestinians that are refugees thanks to UNWRA. 2 million refugees in their own country. THE UN SETTLES REFUGEES. UNWRA perpetuates the problem. They haven't settled one refugee, and have been given billions of dollars. Israel's ethnic cleansing has been terrible. They don't want a state they've had seven or more opportunities for one. They rejected everyone. They just want to kill the Jews. That's all they want. Is it ok in your eyes to tie 20-year-old women to trees, who were at a peace and love pop festival, shoot anything that's moving, then torture them and rape them and then shoot them in their vaginas. Have a look at some of the videos that Hamas filmed with their very own GoPros while they were gleefully committing acts of terrorism. They kidnapped eight Thais and held them in the terror dungeons one of them is still there. They filmed hacking one Thai workers head off with a garden hoe. 1200 Israelis were tortured and murdered. 251 people were kidnapped and tortured many killed in Hamas custody. If you didn't read mainstream media and Al Jazeera you wouldn't believe that Israelis are rubbing their hands in glee trying to steal land. Israel doesn't want to grab any land they want to live in peace which seems to be impossible unless they can annihilate HAMAS completely. Pity 95% of the people on this site are totally brainwashed and Jew haters. How can so many people support terrorism? Only because most were Jews that were murdered. Judaism was a world wide religion, after they were driven out of Israel, and had to flee, many times, but then have been ethnically cleansed from most of the Middle East. They tried that in Europe too. I hope you realise that the Arabs are from Arabia. The Jews are from Judea. Islamists are the colonizers. Islam has colonized most of the world, mostly by the sword. Convert or die. Or live your life as Dhimmi and pay a jizya tax. The terrorists want to kill you too. Hope you all enjoy living under Sharia law. This is not just for you Paddy Power, this is for most of the people that I have bothered reading their posts. -

Funding should have been cut when it first started years ago. The Palestinian Authority's "Pay for Slay" program dates back to 2004. It was formalized with the passage of the Palestinian Prisoners Law, which provides financial support to Palestinians imprisoned by Israel for acts of violence. This law was later amended in 2013. The more Israelis you kill the more money you or your family get. The greatest % of the PA's budget goes towards pay for slay. The UN does nothing. The ICC? No The ICJ? Nope. Biden? No . Gone now. 🙏 While on Biden, we wouldn't be where we were Biden didn't release billions of $$ to Iran and other terrorist NGO's like the UNWRA. Trump had cut off all their funding, Biden reinstated it. Penny Wong reinstated Australia paying for UNWRA terrorist network. Large amounts of money is coming from Western countries. Now the IRGC are closer than ever to a nuclear bomb. They have enough Uranium and plutonium to build several nuclear weapons. Israel, Saudi Arabia and other gulf states have been threatened by the IRGC.

I have been transferring for just over a year with wise now. Rates are better than at money changers or normally same as XE. This is AUD (Commonwealth bank) to THB (Kasikorn) My experiences it is normally transferred instantaneously. I am currently still using wise and I am very happy. Almost as soon as I press the button to transfer, Kasikorn bank sends me a message to say it's in there within a few seconds. There was one time it took a 5 days to transfer. I was ringing wise every day (free to call them from the app) to see what was happening and they told me there was a problem with their partner bank in Thailand. Screenshot of transaction below. With timeline of 5 day wait as I haven't heard of a transfer taking that long. I have also put a friend onto wise, all his have been immediately transfered.

How about the Thai government suing Hamas.. as there are still eight Thais held in the terror dungeons in Gaza for the last 450 days plus another 91 others including 1 from Nepal and one from Tanzania. HAMAS have declared 2 supposedly dead so that leaves six alive. Where is the outcry from Thailand? Where is the outcry from the world? The only out cry I hear is against Israel trying to get them back. The world is so deluded that they say Israel is committing genocide whereas they have the best civilian to terrorist ratios in history. Since October 7th 2023, the population of Gaza has increased. They have been many more babies born in Gaza than people killed, even according to HAMAS figures. This is a very strange genocide.

Britain’s Sharia Courts and the Challenge of Religious Freedom
aussiebrian replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Personally, I don't believe Sharia law should be practised in any western countries. But.. Mohammad is also the most popular name in Israel too for many years. There is also Sharia practised in Israel for the Islamic population. State recognition: The Israeli government officially recognizes and regulates the Sharia courts, with judges appointed by the Knesset. Not fully implemented: While Sharia law is applied in these courts, it is not a governing law for the entire Israeli population, and other legal systems operate alongside it. Mohammad comes in at 53rd for baby names in Australia. Australia doesn't recognise Sharia law. First Nations people make up a small proportion (3.8%) of the Australian population. Yet they are over-represented in Australia's prison system, making up 32% of the total prison population, and are incarcerated at much higher rates than non-Indigenous Australians (ABS 2023a, ABS 2023b).May 9, 2567 BE Penny Wong needs to clean her house out before denigrating Australia's Allies and accusing them of every sin under the sun. Funny how Australia and most of the world accuses Israel of being an apartheid state. I am just stating facts from Google references. -
High hopes: Anutin’s green light for cannabis bill in Thailand
aussiebrian replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would say all drugs should be legalised or at the least decriminalised. Would you rather the criminals, mafia, crime families to be running the drug trade leading to corruption of police, politicians, judges, murders, blackmail, including other related crime in weapon sales, large numbers (up to 80%) of people in prisons for drug related crime.. Or.. having it controlled by the government, where people could get education, drug rehabilitation, not tear families apart, better relations of public with police, more time for police to fight real crime? There should be sensible laws to control of drugs like making it a crime for the seller, selling to children under 18 Drugs are a health issue, the war on drugs has been a horrible failure. What on earth is to be gained making them illegal. Many people that go to jail start using hard drugs in jail. If they can't keep drugs out of jails, how do you think making them illegal will stop people them using them or keep them out of society. The more crackdowns of drugs, the higher the cost of drugs become, the more incentive there is for people to sell drugs. There would also be a lot less muggings in the street, scams, house breakings, and insurance policy prices would naturally drop. If someone wants to use drugs, making them illegal will not stop them from using them. Look at the current situation we find ourselves in. Try thinking outside the box. If someone wants to overdose on heroin, well let them, they will and can do it now. Think of the amount of money that would be saved which could be used for rehabilitation and educating people what the drugs do their body, brain and family life. Ex heroin addicts should be going around schools to educate the young from using drugs and where they could end up. -
Wise wants lots of id stuff
aussiebrian replied to gargamon's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I was one that had problems with wise a couple of months ago. It took 1 week for the transfer. They said they were having problems with their partner bank in Thailand. That was all sorted I've transferred money since then and it goes through incredibly quick. As ID I think it was just passport, that wasn't complicated, went through quickly. That was about 9 months ago. I only ever had the one problem, but that would not put me off wise. I did download Remitly as a backup. It seems to be quite good similar rates to wise, but one good thing is you can send money without it having to go into an account. You can pick up at any bank you nominate. You can even have it delivered to your door. Has anyone ever used Remitly? Looks like home delivery isn't for Thailand. From their site. Bank deposit Bank deposit is the best option if you have a bank account and want to save the money or withdraw cash when you need it. Cash pickup If you don't use a bank account or just prefer to use cash, this is a great option. Find a nearby pickup location that works best for you, then collect your cash using a picture ID and a reference number. Mobile money If you use an app on your phone to pay for what you need, receiving money directly in the mobile money app of your choice might be the most convenient option. Home delivery If you live in the Dominican Republic, Philippines, or Vietnam, you can have cash delivered directly to you by courier. This option works great if you live in a rural area or it's not easy for you to get to a nearby cash pickup location. -

Over 80 patients flee Krabi drug rehab centre over alleged abuses
aussiebrian replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
I would guess escaped is more appropriate as normally at drug rehabilitation centers they would not want you to leave. Some may have been sentenced by the courts to go there. If they had just decided just to leave, I doubt whether the police would have been called. -
