  1. i could not find what i needed in thailand so i brought from USA a large skimmer and waterfall, all quality made by Aquascape in usa; customs people in CR could not figure out what was in the large boxes and of course i could not explain so they ultimately waived me through

  2. Hey Guys

thanks for all the support; went to CM; spent several hours looking for and looking at what was available; in 2 words, not much.

so i will go the import route since i have built several ponds in the US using Aquascape equipment which makes the assembly, upkeep relatively painless.

any idea how best to deal with customs: the system includes a skimmer and a waterfall prefab molded plastic; both of which are about a yard square.

  3. this quote is from the Tao Teh Ching wherein Lao Tze is advising people who think they know or talk about the truth of life; his message to me is that thinking is limited and to know the truth one must embrace the "subtle essence" of life

  4. late to the thread but am very interested in buying a new car here in CR; would like to know if the larger vehicles, ie, Toyota Camray, Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, Mazda ?, are available and if so pricing and availability.

Any suggestions for traveling further to anghor wat by boat or air and then return to Chiang Rai. Not exactly backpacking but also want to frugal.

I usually fly twice a year, not sure what is the best deal

  7. I haven't had any luck in medical forum so here we go. Looking for a good acupuncturist in Chiang Rai or area. Coming to CR soon and would like to continue treatment.

    Thanks Randell

there are two sources that i am familiar: go to the chinese herb shop across from the old bus station and ask the owner, he speaks good english; overbrook hospital has an acupuncture clinic.

  8. I own a 10 rai orchard next to the house on the river in CR; planted with a variety of Thai tropical fruit trees. I am interested in implementing a permaculture or guild system where you plant additional plants, bushes, vines, etc. around and in between the fruit trees. The idea is for each plant to provide nourishment to the other plants in the "guild". I assume each type of tree would have its own guild plants that would make the area bug free and sustainable without the use of herbicides, etc.

I looked through all the posts on organic farming and could not find anything similar to this process.

I wonder if any of you have tried this system; have found which additional plants make a symbiotic relationship; or can guide me to something useful for the trees of CR.

Most of the literature I have read pertains to gardening in England or the USA.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  9. I have lived and had an office next to lax for years; I agree with the poster who said take the #3bus to Santa Monica; it goes through Marina del Rey and Venice if you don't mind a short walk to the beach. In that amount of time you can also take the green line metro train which connects to the blue line which would take you to the center of long beach or into union station-chinatown going the other way. lots to see and plenty of time to get back to lax.
