To everyone:
I just found a decent.... SHA=+ 3 star hotel @ Silom....I stayed at this one last February for 14 day quarantine. The food was nothing to brag about but the accommodations were fine.
So those of you who are upset about extortionate pricing....there are a few hotels offering reasonable prices.
Best of luck to those brave enough to endure: Jumping through hoops to get here
....btw: the weather is awesome now ????????

Hi
If you can remove the tile carefully.....
You might look in Lazada or even Homepro for some underwater putty/epoxy.....mix (knead) together and apply.
Will harden under water and is waterproof....will also fill cracks if needed.
However....you may be experiencing much more than a simple crack....you pool maybe continously separating in which case this will be a temporary fix. There is an awesome pool company up my way....Bang Khae who might give you some information or good suggestions if you get to that point.
good luck

here is a basic youtube video of the epoxy.....

"Sorry, you forgot to add the prison tours!! You cant forget the prison tours!!!"
Don't knock the prison tours.....
DIdn't you know the inmates can order either KFC or Pizza hut for delivery......at least at Khlong Prem they are/were able to
I saw the electronic LED sign in the waiting room while going to see a "thai friend".....
Now of course you need some $$ in your Canteen account....
I can't order any food from outside here in my spacious quarantine accommodation .....however they were kind enough to go buy me some dish soap and a sponge at 7.
stay safe and healthy everyone....

Ohhhh......Now you tell me!!!! 555555
I'm starting day 3 of Quarantine....Its 12:30 am and I just woke up from a 3 hour nap.
AS always it seems like a good idea when put forth by the "Thai powers that be".....until they actually think about it a bit more
and realize the "downside" has more potential than the "upside" Benefit.
I applaud their thinking....I think. I know they are desperate to jump start the economy (just like every other country in the world thats been affected by C-19)
Stay tuned as we can expect them to do one of several things going forward: 1) Nahhh we were kidding. 3) NO we didn't actually say anything of the kind and we will sue anyone who says otherwise. 3) Do nothing 4) Actually come up with a well thought out plan that doesn't appear to enrich a small portion of the elected gentry in the Thai Gov't.
Here was my dessert dinner tonight.....I hope they didn't break the bank with the portion size. ???????? (1" x 1" in size)
stay safe and healthy everyone

Hi all
I was looking at the LMG policy and saw that the deductible starts at 100,000 THB.....just in case anyone was considering that policy. That seems like a HUGE deductible for most people and hopefully the premium is lower as a result of such a high deductible. I saw that it is for the long stay O-A but think maybe is for STV visa also....can anyone confirm that
Also.....what is the 400/40 policy for ?
I thought that all visas that required a C-19 policy was a mandatory 100,00 USD
Stay healthy everyone....leaving for Thailand in a few days.

Question for anyone who is familiar....
I did not see anywhere on the COE registration....requesting "fit to fly" or C-19 test results.
Do they want that information which will not be available until 72 hours before flight anyways ?
The COE registration seemed like a repeat of all the information from my visa application.
I also was not able to input my USA telephone number, and kept getting an error that overseas number is invalid
(chrome browser and it accepted all the other phone numbers just fine)
I am flying on Feb 14th ..... can I register anytime for COE before my flight (as in register now Feb 2) ?
a quick note if Ubonjoe reads this....I was unable to send you any messages. Is there a problem with the website ?
I do not see any of the normal information on the website main page....just headers but no subtopics.
except for the Technology section which appears normal. Just curious...it's been this way for more than a week.
thanks all for your wisdom

Now they've done it....again!! ????
OHHHH.....now they bring this idea up again now that I've paid for my "luxurious" ASQ accommodation in beautiful downtown BKK !!!
I think I'm going to Scream......5555 ????????
Just kidding....I don't even know how to play golf (but can operate a golf cart)
be safe everyone

HI all,
I am in the process of collecting all he documents needed for applying for my STV. I am in the U.S.
I have a question regarding the Criminal record requirement: I am able to request a Cori check of my record but I don't see
any way to get it signed by an authorizer's signature since it is all done online. Any suggestions or is this really for the Non-Imm
Visas ? I have to say I haven't seen such a list of requirements ever before for obtaining a tourist visa to enter Thailand.
I think I can say without reservation I do not have: Leprosy or Elephantiasis or any Step of Syphilis or Drug addiction ????
Anyways we must keep a sense of humor while fulfilling these requirements...because the 14 days of Quarantine will certainly sap of us of any remaining humor we might have retained ????
I am open to any and all suggestions

Thanks for the update.....
Shhh ???? please don't tell anyone I don't play golf....thought it might be a nice option to being locked up in a hotel room

Hi All,
I saw recently the Thai government has approved Golf (resort) Quarantine for the mandatory 14 days.
I have written (email) the Thai consulate in New York but so far have not received any reply.
Does anyone here in Thaivisa-land have any information or can point me in the right direction where I can find out locations/prices ?
I am grateful for any info that can be shared here.
Thanks and stay healthy,

Hi
Here is my .02 worth....I hope it helps
Her ticket is in her maiden name as is her Thai passport....she will have to use that to check in at Airport.
She will then have to show her U.S. Passport as proof she is legally allowed into U.S. with no visa.
However...I would strongly recommend she contact the Airline and speak with a higher level Customer service representative to
make sure she won't be denied boarding at the airport because of the two names and different passports. They most likely have seen this scenario before.
I don't believe Homeland security cares until she presents her U.S. passport at the entry point to United States and they will allow her entry as long as her U.S. passport is correct and valid. I don't believe she will be permitted to fly or admitted to U.S. on her Thai passport as she would need a visa in it for permission to enter U.S.A.
fyi: She needs to have both passports in the same name from now on. If she is in Thailand "next" time she should have her name changed on her Thai passport. I would not do it now as it would likely complicate things even more (require her to buy a new ticket with her new name, unless the airline is very generous and allows a name change on a previously issued ticket. (my guess is the won't)
best of luck

Here is my question regarding the whole Quarantine criteria and low risk countries.
I am really curious why It would matter which country you are a resident of low risk...high risk...no risk ?
In my logic and it may be flawed...if you are negative to get on the plane and negative during quarantine why would
it matter where you come from ? With this virus you are either negative or you are infected (positive).
You are not "sort of negative or sort of positive". It is not lost on me why the have this as part of the criteria for admittance to Thailand but I'm not sure there is medical fact to back this up.
And don't get me started about needing $17,000 usd in the bank for 6 months in order to be eligible to apply for a special tourist visa..????????
It might be easier to post a "We don't really want you to come visit" notice for all to see....????
Thats my rant and I stick by it while sitting here with "election fatigue"....which recently replaced my "Coronavirus fatigue".
Soon the counting will be over and we hopefully will move to a new chapter here in the USA...just not exactly sure what it will be.
Everyone please stay safe

umm....I think inbound flights resume June 30....outbound flights resume July 1....I have a confirmed flight on July 7th...outbound to USA.
I'm not sure where all the announcements come from within the Thai govt...they change daily is my experience.

Yes that is true, I found out when I went to renew my tax sticker/registration and insurance this past April. There has been a cap
on the bed of the truck since I bought it used in 2002. This year they wanted either an extra B2000 or take the cap off.
Still not sure why now they wanted more money or did they want the cap added to the book and that cost B 2000 ?
Ahhh the regulations are a hard one to decipher as it really depends on who you ask in the govt and whether they give
you an erroneous answer (right or wrong) and later being at the checkpoint with the police wanting to write you a ticket you
or take an on the spot donation in lieu of any paperwork.

I have on my 2001 Toyota Tiger Pickup truck....bumpers that I added myself.
the rear is two sections of steel pipe painted silver. they run the width of the vehicle and are to discourage those that like to follow closely from behind.
I also have the same on the front they are painted black. My thai spouse is now telling me that the vehicle cannot have anything but factory bumpers or no bumper at all is ok,
and I will most likely get fined if the police stop me at a checkpoint if I don't remove them. They have been on the vehicle for at least 10 years without any attention from the police.
Are there are new rules for vehicles now or new enforcement for previously existing regulations ? thanks mac

Hi there,
I submitted paperwork for a K-1 visa to the proper lockbox in the states at the end of December 2016. I-130 was approved in approx 3 months then transferred to different offices for further processing. Received final approval in mid May. Paperwork was then transferred to U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. Received several notices from Embassy but never was informed of our interview date. I wrote them via email inquiring about when it was going to be...They informed us that we were a no-show for a late July date (we had never received any email...mail...phone call of the interview date.) It was rescheduled for a late August date at my request ( I am the petitioner) and they gave us the Aug 29th. Showed up with Fiance' at 6:30 am for a 7:00 am interview, first in the queue and after all paperwork was deemed complete my fiance' stood up at the interview window. An American gentleman (who spoke thai) and another Thai gentleman who watched asked him to raise his left hand asked a couple questions was then granted a K-1 visa to come to USA to marry me. 7 months I think is about right depending on how busy they are. A couple things: After you are notified that Bangkok has the paperwork don't hesitate to contact them after several weeks to inquire as I think sometimes paperwork gets overlooked and your inquiry may help them "find it". I had been with my Thai partner for 18 years and was easily able to show them a real and ongoing relationship that dated back to 1998. We have a home outside of Bangkok and plenty of photos to support our claim of a relationship. I would be prepared for your fiance to be able to answer any and all questions they might ask in the event they are not convinced with all your supporting materials you have provided. They said we would receive our paperwork/passport with visa in 2 weeks from the interview date....in fact we received them within 48 hours via EMS to our home. My best to you and good wishes for a successful petition for your visa. Please dont hesitate if you have any questions.

I was fortunate to get mine near Samut Sakhon at the local Amphur. Here on a tourist visa. Presented blue book, one witness.
approx 4 hours out the door...no fee. Bought the girls who were doing the paperwork a 12 pack of Yakult and a smile from me.
I am single with a thai partner and no other papers were requested. I feel very fortunate !!

My two cents:
You may find that you can only receive money Into Thailand via Western Union.
That was the case several years ago when I tried to send to a friend outside the country however the policy may have changed
since then.
You may have better luck as the OP mentioned and set up an online account and send via your CC/Debit card.

Hello all
Here is the Thai spelling of Alum: สารส้ม It's called "Saan(rising tone) Sohm(falling tone)" and they do sell it in most hardware stores.
The price for me has been between 5-10 baht/kg just outside BKK
It comes in big white crystalline chunks that you can easily break up with a hammer into smaller or even into a powder to cast across your swimming pool surface or dissolve in water first and then add that to your pool.
Hope this helps....It's great stuff just remember to vacuum to waste not thru the filter.

I am curious how they managed to get 1488 cc's into this moto....is it possible it's 14.88 cc's....the 2004 Harley Davidson Electra Glide has a 1450 cc engine and it's a tad bigger moto...just a curious that's all.

I have been asking around to no avail...can anyone point me in the right direction.
It will be used for my swimming pool and am curious what it is called in thai.
I keep getting blank looks when i ask for it by the english name..I know it has been popular with the shrimp farmers for controlling algae.
Thanks,

Hi
What is the cost of non inverter unit...?
I think the cost difference between the 2 units is what
you want to compare. The benefit of the inverter is that the unit doesn't shut on and off like a typical AC unit. The fan/compressor adjusts speed up and down depending on the cooling demand and therefore uses less energy when its not needed and doesn't suffer from abrupt starts and stops of the compressor each cooling cycle.
If the inverter unit only costs about B3000/100 usd more vs. the non inverter I would think its an easy choice to spend the small amount to realize savings on your electric bill.....just my .02 worth
