  1. Problem solved - after 5 days of fiddling I decided to run the initial 'Setup Wizard' again to see if there were any hidden secrets in there. The second I pressed the 'Setup' button, the edge symbol appeared and has stayed connected for over 6 hours.

  2. I'm trying to get DTACs mobile networks working on my HTC Desire that I have bought in England. I have tried all the apn settings on this thread, but no luck. After asking a HTC shop in Thailand they said the software won't connect. The phone is unlocked and I can use it for standard use (calls, sms) does anyone know why it won't connect, the people in the DTAC shop had it connected for 2 minutes, but then it would not connect again.

    The phone has 2.1- update1

    Hope this makes sense!

  3. Sorry to drag this from the grave - but I have a question. I also need a crb check to work in Primary Schools. I went to get my fingerprints done for £60 - then after the police read my form, they pointed out I needed THREE copies! That would cost a fortune. I eventually ran away.

You also need a certified copy of your passport - that's around £20 per page.

Has anyone completed this process from the UK - did you get three fingerprints done?

Annoyingly, I may need to do this process again to become a sports coach!

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Jsut to let you all know my wife collected her visa on Friday! I sent around 4 faxes begging and finally we got it, we both fly out on Thursday. Thanks for all your support, sorry I haven't posted for a while - spending all my time on here was getting me stressed!!

Good luck to everyone left - looks like things are picking up.

  5. Using Kennkate stats:

    Submitted: Tuesday, 17 March 2009

    Today : Friday, 12 June 2009

It is 87 days from the start date to today

    Or 2 months, 26 days.

    That's 12.42 weeks @ 7 days a week = 87 days

    But. 12.42 weeks @ 5 working days= 62 days

Meaning a possible extra 28 days?

    I really hope not :)

  6. agreed!

I'm on week 10 today, but that's only 50 working days. By that logic I still have another 40 days left?! I fly on July 2nd - get kicked out of my house before then, leave my work on the 26th of June!

    Week 12 = 60 days?

    Week 18 = 90 days?

//Forgot to add, my wife phoned the VFS they re-iterated that it could take 90 working days.

  7. :):D:D:D WEVE GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D :partytime2

Got a text 10.30am this morning telling us to pick up the application.

Our thoughts are with all of you who have been waiting an eternity my wife is going to the temple to pray for you all

we wont abandon the thread and will read it everyday and give encouragement where needed.

we feel privelaged to have been part of this grey hair growing experiance with you all and thank you for making us feel not alone

    Good luck to everyone.

    Mr & mrs Rolypie.

Hooorah! Just when I'd abandoned all hope, Rolypie saved the day.

    Congratulations!!

  8. this is really quite bad, only one person in 2 weeks. What on earth has gone so wrong with the system that they can't make a descision in 12 weeks???

Agreed, they are clearly overstepping the 12 week mark in a few cases as well. From reading the Thai web boards (translated by the wife) many are still waiting for their results dating back to early / mid march.

The mind boggles, how many settlement visas do they have to process? I think we (the brotherhood of thaivisa UK settlement forum) should get it before others, this is just my opinion though, founded on nothing but selfishness, comradeship and a need to put this waiting to an end. I get angry when my friends send me texts or ring me, as I always assume it's going to be the embassy with news.

Rant over, off to check the VFS website.

  9. On the Embassy website news.

2 June 2009: Delay in application process Please note that due to a surge in applications non-settlement applications are now taking between 4-6 weeks to process and settlement applications 12 weeks. Applications already submitted are being cleared on the basis of date due to travel. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these delays

On the internet form, they had removed (or so my wife says) the intended date of travel / required visa date.

So how would they know when we need it by? I enclosed my ticket information, so fingers crossed they'll find that!

  13. Good luck to those who have received replies. Mrburb, can you tell if I will win the lotto this week?

    You won't. :D

Fair enough mrburb. Same probability of the Mrs. receiving a reply this week from our friends at the Embassy.

Hopefully you'll get yours within the next week or two :) I'm 3 days behind you.
