  1. Fight fire with fire. Tell her that you'll implicate her as your partner in crime. Bonus points if it's actually true. After all, this can't have been going on for years without her playing some kind of supporting role.

Brilliant, this is champagne - i can use this for sure. This is why i posted on here. I've decided to visit some friends out of the country for a while and see how things pan out. She'll probably crawl back with her tail between her legs when the money dries up anyway.

As far as the internet is concerned i'm well proxied up on a public server with no personal details in any connected account, i wouldn't dream of joining a public forum using any real personal info that was ever traceable, that would be madness, obviously.

  2. The OP is not shopping if he is getting paid for it, he is buying and selling goods, and exporting them. This is defined by the law as working, therefore his GF could shop him, however, it is mostly a ploy to get you to want her back and beg her to forgive you. Show her the door.

No i'm not selling them, that's the point.

  3. wish it was that simple sadly there is a kid involved, she doesn't have the capacity to see beyond her own completely illogical selfish take on the situation and therefor is hell bent on destruction. She's had a good run out of the relationship and relatively speaking has lived in the lap of luxury for a good few years now. Sadly it looks like i will have to move on to greener pastures, legal battles will inevitably ensue and the loss will be the kids. Very sad state of affairs.

  4. wow that's great thanks so much for your swift replies, I mean technically i am just buying stuff for a friend nothing dodgy like cigarettes or anything just bits and bobs that he can sell in his shop back home.

She's just going crazy all i said was that i didn't want to see her anymore!! Surely i have a right to that don't i ?! I would have supported her setting up her new life and everything, she's reallly shot herself in the foot here, what a <deleted>!

  5. Any work done in Thailand requires a work permit which you do not have if here on a tourist visa. That you are getting paid and using that for your stay I suspect is even more damaging.

But is what i'm doing work though, buying stuff and sending it home, then surely it would be illegal to send stuff home then.

  6. Hello everyone,

Really need some urgent advice as a psycho EX has me in her sights (what a surprise!!) and is threatening me with all kinds of madness.

I live here and have done for while traveling back home as and when my tourist visa expires. I need to know if what i'm doing is technically illegal or not. I come here and i buy lots of stuff and send it home to a friend who sells it. Artwork, antiques etc etc. Then he sends me money and that supports my stay here. Am i working here?? I don't make Thai Baht and i am not legally signed up as a business owner or anything like that. She's threatening to have me kicked out of the country basically and i just need to know what my legal standing is and how i should tackle this most irritating of situations.

Please only give advice if you are sure you know what you are talking about or have had similar experience in these matters etc

    Thanks Very much!!

  8. Woah, i'd love to get my hands on one of those crossbow things, it looks like a medieval tazer. Hours of fun.

I have a klong and pond outside my hotel in Chaing Mai. The klong is loaded with small gourami and a few tilapia. There are also a few common snakeheads. The locals dip net them all the time.

Some guys try to shoot the larger species with a crossbow

I've caught them on tiny flies, but it's difficult and you need very fine leaders.

  9. thanks, I know Iron Fairies and it is kinda small and gets rammed at the weekends, do they really have an upstairs bit that can be rented?

Has anyone ever tried Happy Mondays on corner of Ekamai soi 10?

    What about clouds?

Happy Mondays is pretty good, the food is good and they do decent cocktails, they play nice music with a selection of Djs playing old vinyl. It's next to a recording studio and i think they pride themselves on playing decent stuff. It can get quite busy mainly with a young trendy thai crowd.

I recommend a place called TUBA nearby that's worth checking out, maybe pop to Happy Mondays afterwards for a nice cocktail.

Hope you have a good one wherever you end up!

Sorry i realize that's not the best write up in the world but just to give you a sense of what it's about. Any one who orders a Froi Gras salad gets what they deserve i recon.

  11. There was a great compilation released last year called 'The Sound of Siam' which is from one guys collection of old Mor Lam and Luk Thung Vinyl with some amazing tracks on. This is all stuff from the 60's and 70's though. You're right new Thai pop is extraordinarily bad, but having said that most pop music is rubbish back home in the UK as well now - I guess they just work out what's going to make them a load of money regardless of what it sounds like. Just look at Xfactor, what a load of nonsense that is.

  12. Striking a snake with a broom is not wise as you can easily flip the snake onto yourself.

If you're not experienced in dealing with snakes you're better off leaving well alone and getting someone in who is.

In Thailand you're seldom far away from someone who is an experienced snake wrangler. most villages have one.

well all the thais who were present wanted me to cut it's head off so i thought it was best to just brush him outside and see him off down the end of the garden. He wasn't that big to be fair and with the broom i kept him far enough away to feel that i was safe enough. If i found a big boy i would leave it to the locals believe me! Thanks for the advice though!

  13. It's a non poisonous Striped Kukri Snake (oligodon taeniatus)

If attacked, the snake is usually defensive and displays the typical defensive behavior for an Oligodon

(rolling up to the side and lifting up the tail.)

Are you sure, i googled it and the photos of that snake look pretty different to this one, althought there is a shot of the tail coiling i was talking about. The colours and stripes seem much more defined on the striped kukri.

  14. This was in our bathroom. Anyone know what kind of snake it is???

It was striking at the broom i was using to get it out of the house and had bight pink on the underside of his tail, he was flaring this up presumably as a kind of defensive maneuver, when he did this he curled it up and it looked rather like a second mouth.

    Thanks in advance.

  15. I've been catching a load of these in the lake at the back of the house lately, anyone know what they're called???

This ones about 8 inches from tip to tail and i've had them on bread flake and pork ball.

My suggestion to put them back was met with astonishment and grandma soon had them in the frying pan. She said they were called Pla Slit but i'm pretty sure they're different to the Pla Slit i've seen in the markets in Bangkok and was wondering if anyone had a western name for them.

    Thanks in advance.
