heloo. i have a 1 year valid thai driving license. i did the test and passed in chatuchak. for motorcycle and car. does anyone know if i can change my 1 year license to an international license? Or do i have to obtain a 5 year license first and then obtain an international license?. and if its possible do anyone know what documents i need, to change my thai license to a international license.?

hello. we just got visa for my girlfriend to enter schengen territory. for 3 months. we applied in the swedish embassy. and unfortunately i saw some miserable people also that did not get any visa. first of all you have to make an appointment. you see the number on the swedish embassy website.

if you are a sponsor what you need is following documents:

copy of all your pages in your passport they only need your entry stamps to thailand. but just in case copy the whole thing .

your bankaccount statement at least 3 months back. i supplied 6 months. i have 2 bank accounts so i supplied both accounts 6 months back.

salary papers. from my work that i worked in last year. i do not work there anymore. but i dont know if u need to give this. i just gave it anyway.

personal invitation i wrote one myself and gave it to them.

personbevis (proof of your address) in sweden. they are many kinds of "personbevis" but you need the one that says "inbjudan". like the invite paper.

and thats it.

and your girlfriend/friend need the following. note: i do not know if you need all this but we supplied anyway and it was success.

travel insurance we bought it on the 19th floor also. the price was 2500baht for 3 months. and the company was mondial insurance. and if you do not get visa you will get the 1000baht back for the ticket + the money back for the insuarance. the fee for applying for the visa was 2900. and you have to pay it in an UOB bank. read more at the swedish embassy bangkok website.

hello erik you can apply for 3 more months at migration in sweden costs about 1000sek if you can ,call and make apointment at a smaller office i did it in karlstad and there was not any problems they helped us with the paperwork friends have done it in gothenburgh,and had some problems with personel that wasent any helpful

a letter from your family dont hurt because the buggers at the embassy love papers

okaay thank you. but when u want extension do you have to have applied for double entry visa? beacuse now we only applied for single entry to not make any suspicions. we get her passport back on tuesday. hope we get it .

You and your GF will be abale to access Schengen at any POE. No need to enter in Sweden.

Yes one may enter via any port in Europe but the purpose of applying at any particular Consulate is the fact that this is either the firsport of Entry or the main destination (although there is really no way to check it) but no one knows...

It all comes down to your finances in Sweden, and they want to make sure she leaves Schengen in time (90 days). Application is more easy if she has strong roots in LOS, like children or property.

You should phone the embassy and find out their process. It may be that you have to call and get an appointment to hand in the forms, or you can do that whenever you wish. They will then either grant the visa, or ask for your girlfriend to come in for an interview. The stronger your evidence that she is going just for a visa and won't try and stay, the less likely she would need to be interviewed. I forsee some problems with your application.

You want to act as her sponsor, but you currently have no job and no income. If you have enough money in the account, an income should not be a problem, but remember they will now consider that this money will be keeping you and her for the duration of her stay. I presume you don't have your own house in Sweden, so you will probably be giving your parents house as her address there. Do, you have a letter to her from them inviting her to stay at their home, or a letter from them saying she can stay? The other reason that people fail to get visa's to European countries are lack of reason to leave the country once the visa is over. For this, they normally require proof that she will return, like a job/university studies to come back to, or assets in her home country, i.e. land/substantial amount of money. If your girlfriend has quit her job and has none to come back to, this will go against her.

Now, you've stated in your post that you are planning for her to overstay her visa before you have even applied and found out what visa she will get. This shows a lack of understanding about visa's. Visa's to most western countries aren't handed out like candy to people from countries like Thailand. If this is her first visa, then it may be that she is not given a 90 day visa, but a visa with the dates on the form you hand in to the embassy. So, if you have put down she is going for 4 weeks, you may only get 4 weeks. As you've stated that you intend her to overstay a 90 day visa, if 90 days is given, how long do you intend her to overstay? Do you understand the repercussions of her overstaying? She may get a ban from visiting any/all of the Schengen visa countries for a number of years. Depending on your countries thoughts on this, she may be banned from there for a long time. Do you really want to chance her never being able to visit you again? Think carefully before you lie to your embassy or overstay a visa intentionally.

Anyone who likes to enter Schengen must prove that she can support herself during this stay in Europe. There is one amount (which I forgot just now, 30 - 50 Euro?) for every day she likes to have a visa. If she has a regular job with salary that goes into a bank-account and she has enough money in the bank this will do. If not, you, as the person who is inviting her, must prove that you have the money to support her during her stay. Best is if you have a regular job and can show your payslips together with bankbalance. Perhaps you could let any of your parents do the inviting if you do not have a regular job?

My advice, read the instructions on the Swedish embassy web-site, read it once, read it twice and maybe even three times. Is is very confusing the first time but if you just do everything it says there you will get the visa.

Regarding the documents, you just bring them for the interview, check them and check them again! Do not forget the insurance and the visa-fee!!!!!

yees. but now i dont have any work and i dont want my parents to give their sellary papers its to much to bother and take a long time.. but i have good funds in my account. some irregular transactions. will they look closely in my account or what do u think they look at?. they shouldnt care beacuse i have some irregular transactions right?

As beano said, you can get a 3-use day card at the service counter. Though after you spend enough money, around 1000B, you can get a permanent card for free.

no i did not have to register or do anything., i just bought the cheese in the counter for the same price as on the price tag. she asked if i had a card and i said no. and nothing more about that. 690 baht was the price for 2 kilo cheddar cheese block. not sliced. the brand was ARO. they had mozarella cheese also 2kg. a littlebit cheaper. think 600baht or something. it is good cheese for that money. im not much of a cheese taster i just want some cheese on my sandwich. and that is taste good. its not like the fine brands but is it well okay for that price.

May seem a dumb question but where is there a macro near sukhumvit??? also do you have to register in the store and get a store card to enter the place as you do in the UK??

Heloo i am moving to spain in a few months. i did not know what thread to ask this. but i read that i can exchange a moroccan driving licence to a spain licence. i do not have any licence from before, only thai licence. i am european citizen. but the theory test in europe, (spain) is very hard. so i thought if i can get a licence in morocco beacuse i think its much more easy. and then change it to a spain licence. does anyone have any experiences of moroccan driving licences? hard to get? documents required?.

It could be that the dates you have got the tickets for are the dates they will make your visa valid for, so getting an earlier ticket may not be possible. You will have to wait and see if you get the visa and then check the dates on it.

Currently getting all the documents sorted for my boyfriends UK visit visa. I've been told that its best to include a reserved flight in the application. I am planning for him to fly on the Air Asia X flight from KL to Stanstead but Air Asia do not allow reservations without full payment. Would it be sufficient to print off the planned itinerary without reserving? Or my other option is to reserve a flight with Etihad and then cancel it once we have the visa and book a flight with air asia - will he be ok when he lands in the UK if he is on a different flight than specified in the visa application?

Any help appreciated.

helooo.. tell your boyfriend to go a travel agency and ask for "ticket for visa purpose". then it doesnt matter what flight company or whatever. then when u have the visa granted you just buy and normal real ticket. i bought mine in banglamphu for 2000baht.

Hello i have some changed plans. as u may notice in my other topic. but lets get strait to the case. i have a thaigirlfriend we known eachother and lived with eachother for 1year. we are NOT married and we are currently in bangkok. i am a swedish citizen registered in sweden with home address. how can my gf get a resident visa to sweden.?how many weeks,months will it take?and what do i need to proof that i have address in sweden etc.. is it possible at all for her to get a residence visa without traveling back to thailand anymore?. does anyone know about the 30000euro insurance.? how much does it cost? or should she take a tourist visa and then we can try to get the residence visa while in sweden?. ive been to the swedish embassy here in bangkok. i called the swedish embassy. i do not find it useful in anyway. and the phone booth is a joke. the lady says okay i get u to consular. and no one is there. everytime. so i tried to keep her on the line but she connected me to a dead phone anyway. impossible to deal with. hope anyone out there have any answers what we should do.

Hi mate this one i can help you on, my wife and i have done it many times. For all you readers You dont have to pay if the lady is married to you!!! its totally free.firstly your best going to the spanish embassy/ consulate in manchester, you have to book an appiontment/ its a premium rate call to book it. it will cost around £12 for the call. Secondly they want to see proof of travel and return dates. Allways reqeust a multiple entry, however theve really tightened up now and will probablly not issue one, single entry only. example we wanted to go to france and andorra but they only gave her single entry so we could not go or she wouldnt be allowed back into spain to travel back home, ludicrous. they will not give you a three month visa, the most iv had is six weeks and they gave her the visa to the exact dates not a day over. No way whatsoever will they issue a work permit no way, but try it and they will probablly not give her a travel visa in the fear that she will work when she gets there. You also need proof of holiday insurance and funds while your there, you have to sign garruntor. Your not supposed to go into the interview room with her but just hold hands when they open the door and you will probably get in with her. They do not issue the visa the same day you have to go back three days later, but it can take a week, when i say proof of travel I mean go to a holiday shop pick some flight dates when you want to go or when you want to sail and get the shop to print the details of the journey out, DONT PAY ITS JUST AN ENQUIRY then take that with you to tell them when you wish to travel. regards mike
