  1. Unqualified condemnation certainly does not - though simply condemning military intervention in this case seems right. Condemning the use of MLRS delivering vacuum bombs also highlights that we aren't talking about a 'civilised war' here. What I also see here is that this war is doing a lot to highlight the fact that it's MOST important aspect is that it apparently involves caucasians. Building sympathies based on this being a 'European war'. Comments about Europe 'welcoming Ukrainian refugees' whilst non-white people have apparently been turned back at the borders... many of us know that Indians, Arabs and people of colour are rather less entitled... less human. People of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa are obviously not as white as the Ukrainians.
  2. I'm not sure - does this mean scammers are safe if they focus on multiple $50 scams? Though I expect that the accounts are too easily set up using a burner phone...
  3. The Seller's shop has been blitzed. The open order was never marked 'sent' or paid... The seller won't collect more than the information/delivery details via shopee. The seller can now go ahead and open another 3-4 shops with the identical item, images, and maybe try with a few prices to attract greedy people, and others with a price nearer the original.
  4. Yes, however I feel that - in the UK - both Shopee and the Police would be keen to record the incident and have a stab at rectifying it and finding information to see if they can grab the scammer... Fraud is rather more important to deal with than simply recovering the money. If I get the money back, I won't be sad - but I'm still left disappointed. It actually took up 3 hours of my day simply to get through to these people - emails with Shopee collecting all the evidence and sending it, then (on their advice) going to the police station - wasted an hour there making more calls to Kerry. Then, of course, my wife shouting because I didn't just go to a shop to buy the keyboard... It's a RK100 and there IS no alternative in the shops, you can buy via Aliexpress but it's hard to find Thai keycaps without spending another 50% of the price...
  5. I actually felt guilty about that - it was only about 230 baht, but remember a newsagent who caught me stealing a chocolate bar (I think 30p) explained that he made only 2p profit - so he must generate a turnover for another 15 bars of chocolate (£4.50) before he even got that back. If Shopee are that hard on their actual sellers, then surely they should be even more angry and keen to chase up scammers who only use their platform to fraudulently gain customer information and orders. However, I learned the lesson - don't receive anything not tracked properly in the app. Annoyingly simple because the delivery driver called me, I put down the phone and walked right into it. Anyway, just as a matter of interest - seeing as I just won 3 Macbook Pro's in competitions and only have use for two, I'd be interested to sell one for maybe 30,000 baht if you're interested...
  6. Update: Shopee say they're not interested because the Shopee seller simply used them to get details, but did the scam via Kerry. Dissapointed - they should be interested to (a) contact Kerry and cancel the COD cash reaching the sender (b) contacting the police, releasing the sellers details to the police and (c) organising with Kerry to get the money transferred back to the scammed customer. They said 'do it yourself - go to the police'. The police said 'do it yourself - contact Kerry and ask for refund'. Amazingly Kerry (without all the details - except the actual parcel number) said they would halt the COD cash and try to find a solution... then they said 'give us your bank details and wait 7 days'... So watch this space. I guess the news to take away from this is that you're pretty safe running scams online here - nobody wants to bother you, they'd rather just tell the customer to go chase their own cash.
  7. There is one scam I just got caught by - currently under review by Shopee. I'm never worried about 'fakes' because if the goods delivered aren't genuine, you can refuse to release payment or request a refund. Three years ago, I got a pack of razor blades (Astra Superior) and refused to accept because the plastic casings were very very poor (i.e. bad moulding - the slots had plastic in them stopping the blades sliding out). I got a refund on the strength of pictures not matching the images on the website - but still tested the blades which are indeed genuine and still in use! I ordered a keyboard in Shopee for a very good price (legitimately prices vary from around 1000 to 2000 baht according to spec) of 1300 and planned a separate order for Thai keycaps from Aliexpress to provide a nice colour contrast also (as it was the ENG only version with MX Brown switches). So 3 days later, the bell rings and the delivery is made. As I handed over the cash, I opened the end of the box - but too late I spotted a cheap plastic toy inside. So I went back to my phone inside and checked the app. The seller accepted the order and 'scheduled delivery by J&T'. He got the details - but he sent COD by Kerry so he can receive the cash because it doesn't go through shopee. Given that most things aren't delivered in 'official' looking vehicles nowadays, it's hard to spot... I guess the pandemic put an end to all deliveries via liveried vehicles. 1. The delivery people generally will not allow you to receive or open anything until you give money, so no stupid comments about that. 2. Whenever goods are delivered via shopee or Lazada I always got refunds - and only once had to actually return the goods (and that was free - handled by simply taking it to the local 7-11). So I guess the point of this post is that you need to take care to take your mobile when you collect - check that the item is, indeed, marked for delivery and that the person delivering/label on the package matches the shipping marked in your app. Waiting now to see what happens - should take a day or two to get an answer, maybe another week for a transfer/refund. 1,326 baht - EN COD Fraud Order Sn: 2202213G0399A1
  8. I'd say she should go after him, but not with a view to start violence. She should have told him that he needs to apologise and maybe offer her some compensation for ending her night early - pay her table bill and call it quits. From there on, it would be the guy's turn to respond and more effectively to lose face. However, watching the video just lets us see that she's a potty mouthed tramp looking for a scrap, and certainly not worth the argument.
  9. Obviously you didn't go to Thai school. Students are told, when buying goods - always buy Good Quality, and that means buy Thai. If you didn't learn this in a Thai school, you are uneducated and would never be able to work it out for yourself 5555555555
  10. Sounds like an American sponsored work to me. Meanwhile in the UK, doctors are lauding that vaping is much less harmful and are suggesting all smokers quit - switching to vaping is the best way to do that. The fact is that smoking is ten times more harmful to health. However, vaping is not better for people who don't smoke. But vapers who smoked have the same (to a lesser extent) problems that smoking always gave them. Kids who start vaping are less likely to start smoking - so even that is a positive effect... Using words like 'potentially' doesn't help - it smacks of mud slinging. Vaping potentially causes death, vaping potentially causes heart disease - but it's often impossible to determine if that was vaping, or (most likely) the after effects of having smoked. Mixing in data from idiots who vape oils and other potentially lethal coctails doesn't help convince vapers either - they know it's all <deleted>. "Under Thai law, importers of e-cigarettes can face up to 10 years in prison while sellers of e-cigarette liquids face up to five years imprisonment or fines of up to 500,000 baht. " Meanwhile CP group sells cigarettes freely through 7-11's. so we see that this law simply bans 'non approved' brick and mortar shops - it enables people with connections, or who pay bribes to police, to sell products online - with less competition and healthier profits.
  11. We get regular fines through the post - cameras are generally set up to catch people out crossing a solid line to take a turn to save 15km from their journey home. My brother-in-law hasn't had a speeding ticket for 6 years now, but still he gets caught out by those stupid lane cameras. Meanwhile, when we go driving, we are beset with the usual moronic behaviour which goes un-monitored, especially when it's red plate Mercs/BMW's or vans with official paint jobs.
  12. This brings to mind the early days with internet shops. Huge investment on PC's and cheap furniture during the opening, then let them run down to scrap - then close the shop. There is no interest to keep them going by replacing old/malfunctioning units on a regular basis... Best leave it until the system collapses and then grab another 20 million to do it all again. Note also that when they 'throw 20 million at cameras' only 5 million will stick, the rest will flutter away and fall on more fertile ground. As for the homeless - give them a fish and they'll eat for a day, give us a camera and we'll collect 1000 per day to eat lobster. Your choice. No news here - move along.
  13. According to official sources, they fixed traffic, pollution, and corruption, and the leader is an eminently brilliant and decisive individual. Anyone who shows evidence to the contrary should be arrested and beaten!
  14. OMG No!!! Surely Music helps COVID to infect more people!!! I hope they close it down before 7pm like 7-11's, that seems to be when COVID is most active.
  15. The point really is that AZ, Pfizer and Moderna are approved - but if they're administered in Thailand they aren't being accepted. Frankly ridiculous... but for a country that still insists that you arrange to have a bank statement or mobile phone bill delivered to your home address by post as part of your verification (why - because your current passport isn't good enough?) before you can get a new passport it's hardly surprising.
  16. It's actually cheap, but I believe Thailand pays the highest price from taxpayers money to help generate more profits for CP which supports bigger donations to the regime. You know how it works "I'm gonna get you some milk, give me some cash - it's 3000 baht per litre". Then you pay 3000 baht for your litre of milk, and collect your 500 baht kickback in profit - whilst the milk should only cost 45 baht in the first place... you get richer.
  17. One HUGE advantage - more profits for CP to help them with their huge donations to help support Monarchy. You scratch my back...
  18. Haha yes - My son was asked by his teacher to make a speech about 'interesting History'. I told him he can mention that the longest serving 'Father' of the people was more interested in self enrichment than in getting healthcare for poor people. Whilst the leader who instigated the great 30 baht health scheme was also one of the most corrupt, and sent out minions to murder some 2500 people because the leaders are always above the law. In a land where CP decides where the government buys vaccines and the leader is constantly trying to explain away ridiculously expensive watches it's only 'news' worthy when they're NOT being investigated or locked up... I find it hard even to begin to imagine how many hidden 'fat cats' there are with 40 supercars and billion baht empires on a simple non-graduate's salary. Nothing gets done without doing some hard graft!
  19. When was it ever ok to disagree? Certainly from an early age in Thai schools, the rule is - do as you're told and never argue. When the teacher is wrong, you say 'Yes, Sir!' and copy the wrong answer. This is a patriarchal monarchy style - assume absolute power under the guise of fatherhood, or 'taking care' and forced compliance for your own good.
  20. This isn't their job - they just flew in from their private residences for a photo-media opportunity.
  21. Smart reporting - people can draw their own conclusions and then be told they're totally clueless because the truth remains hidden. It's the Thai way.
  22. Nobody can respect these clowns, except in the context of simply staying out of trouble... I mean - wearing a mask driving your own car? Really? How can anyone not think that is ridiculous? Thai's have it right - just show superficial respect in public - it's only a matter of face. There's no real respect for the law here.
  23. Right, they are not against freedom of speech.... This is the funniest thing I saw for a long time - are you a well paid Royalist? If they are not against freedom of speech, why do they shoot at people in the street for simply saying they want some kind of reform - of the corrupt regime, of some slight changes to the way the monarchy rapes the country??? Oh, that's right, it's because they might catch a cold being outside whilst being sprayed with chemicals by the police. I got it now.
