Thailand confirms first case of VITT linked to AZ jab
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sure, makes for boring news 'An 85 year old obese female with diabetes has died after getting a vaccine shot'. And never, ever, compare the problems with this vaccine with Flu shots... These vaccines are so much safer than not taking them - we don't need this sensationalist <deleted> making people worry more, and adding fuel to the antivaxxers rhetoric. -
Thailand reports 16,031 COVID-19 cases, 220 deaths
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Singapore has many people choosing the 'safer' Chinese traditional Sinovac vaccine - so they aren't very well protected when it comes to Delta. People are easily confused, worried when they hear about blood clots, and not really aware just how safe the vaccines are... compared to the alternatives. -
Thailand reports 16,031 COVID-19 cases, 220 deaths
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Actually not very relevant - simply being infected isn't a serious issue as most folks don't get very sick - especially the vaccinated ones. There's a shift coming, away from simply reporting cases. It's like having a day with 2000 road deaths, where they simply report the total number of accidents (including people who reversed into a wall). They need to focus more on the ratio of cases (serious unvax and serious vax) - but then this will simply highlight that Thailand is way behind with the vaccines. Most of these dead and hospitalised are the unvaxxed. -
So publicly they are saying they will punish anyone who excercises freedom of speech, there is no right to a POV, there's no right to complain.... Only the right of the regime to demand impunity and take down anyone that threatens it...

The shift that's needed worldwide is to shift away from shifting simple infection numbers, and focus more on serious cases listed alongside the vaccine status. I don't care if there are 50,000 infections tomorrow - if those are amongst the vaccinated there won't be many in hospital... The problem is that the virus rages more amongst the unvaccinated, and that's largely down to the fact that the government is about 2 years behind in it's progress.

Chinese Embassy Bangkok: Sinovac it is NOT a low quality vaccine
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm sure it isn't low quality, but mRNA vaccines are just much better... In Singapore, there are many folks choosing Sinovac because they're scared of mRNA vaccines, but they get very low protection with Delta variants and lower protection overall. Maybe China should ask why Chula is working on an mRNA vaccine instead of going for a cheaper and easier Sinovac style solution... -
Direct vaccine deals more advantageous than COVAX: NVI
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Right, now tell us why the ideas for a Vaccine status lockdown will fail because less than 10% are vaccinated after 2 years - given that they've found great alternative methods for getting enough vaccines available in every 7-11 in the country... Meanwhile in the UK and many other countries, the only unvaccinated people are the ones that won't get vaccinated. Does he also explain why the money paid to get the rather weak option (Sinovac) was 2 billion baht more than the cost of the Sinovac? Surely the original motivation was to protect the idea that the local production of AZ was going to eventually succeed and thus protect the Monarchy... -
With 16000 police in the country, each photo takes up only a few bodies - here we see 4 of them posing for a picture, and are supposed to assume they're ALL doing their jobs? Also a sad reminder that the land of smiles don't really make it easy for anyone to gain permanent residence even after 5, 10, 15 years...

A few I know refused 'substandard' vaccines. It makes sense, once the government provided them with a vaccine, there's little hope they can get a better one without paying quite a lot of money.... and for the forseeable future, even those are hard to get without passing age and morbidity limitations.

Thailand plans to vaccinate 4 million students with Pfizer by October
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The main aim is simply to keep putting out a stream of positive sounding news stories. My main wish is that Thai schools stay as they are, and do distance learning. At least 50% of the classes are a complete waste of time... Thai Dance anyone? -
As devices consume less power, in the future it'll be entirely possible to have battery free devices which are less passive. Your understanding of the phrase 'as technology moves on' and what that could entail makes this comment entirely irrelevant.

Bold statement here... already we have chipped ID cards and Passports - and technology moves on. As soon as it's practical, it's almost guaranteed.

ROFL don't get too excited about MedPark database. I'm due for my second jab next week, but they just sent me another email, this time addressed to AHM SHAFIQUL ISLAM saying to come for a first injection in September...

Lawyer who leaked Joe Ferrari tape sued for defamation
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Since when did that make a blind bit of difference? The Red Bull heir is one of the longest running jokes in Thai History, and there are MANY others... to the extent that we KNOW they'll get away, and amongst all he people shouting 'let's get this sorted' in public are many who will turn off the camera and say 'he's family, he can't get in trouble for this'. -

Calm down, it's just another <deleted> publicity stunt. -

Given that nobody believes a word - and everyone knows that this guy will lie through his teeth - he is fully incapable of 'confirming' anything at all. We all know, the rules only apply to the 'bad' people, and any crime the 'good' people commit is fine.

Thailand to receive 61 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine this year
ben2talk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Simple semantics. 'Thailand to solve traffic issues this year' means pretty much the same thing. 'Police stopping vehicles for billowing smoke' with a picture of 20 smartly presented officers, one measuring the tailpipe of a truck. 'We will never have another coup'. Not 'fake' news if it's posed and presented by the Thai Authorities. It's only fake when you tell the truth. -
Locals hit out at Miami inspired beautification of Pattaya
ben2talk replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
My son (9 years old) said - wow, looks hot!!!! Maybe a sign that he's far more intelligent than Thai Authorities (not that we needed any confirmation on this front). Surely a scam, everyone going to the beach huddles under the trees - unless they're paying to sit at tables. -
Four Delta sub-variants found in Thailand no immediate cause for alarm
ben2talk replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It makes a huge difference - the delta variants, we know from the UK and US, spreads easier - like Measles - and has a much higher transmissibility (Ro is between 6 and 7). It should quickly saturate the population before starting to calm down... -
the man who assaulted the foreigner later apologized and paid for all his hospital treatment. All fixed now. I had a similar problem - 15 years ago, I saw a drunken Filipino out riding my GSX-R750 - he had a CBR900, blasted past me and hit a guy (he was about 60) and dragged him maybe 10 metres before crawling off home. Next day the police tracked him down, he paid 6000 hospital fees and said 'sorry, but I got scared'. All fixed. Thai justice is so heart warming.

Lockdown set to be relaxed next week: DDC
ben2talk replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
This has been the single best thing about the last 2 years - my son can currently learn more Maths and English as well as general Thai, whilst skipping the Chinese class, and just cheat on tests for Social, Health and History. Sadly the eye opener has confirmed my impressions of Thai education. 90% a waste of his life.
