...funny query, I like it. The best air in the world currently is located within and about the Rocky Mts chain in the Western USA. Really, your air quality quest depends on air currents. So, research all prevailing winds and "westerlies."

Kon Thai do tasks very well involving immediacy. Food, accommodations, etc. Anything involving tomorrow---not so good.

...generally, people who do not swim gravitate to pool ownership for some strange reason. Pools are great to look at, until the maintenance bills come due. I've made a good living tearing out hot tubs for people wanting to rid themselves of their nightmare. You want to swim? Suss out local pools. You want to soak? Get a bathtub.

Thai Government has made it abundantly clear they do not want anymore "cheap Charlie's," which is their label for anyone not staying at the Dusit Thani. That's fine! I think we should all assist the Thai government by not booking any flights to their Kingdom. Give them 2 years and they'll be dropping the annual fee for their visa back under $200 USD. Give them enough rope.....

Greatest Hits here. Recall this one:

Thai Government is about to receive a very harsh economics lessons from all the "dirty falang" they have actively rallied against. This 90k baht entry fee is doomed to fail, then what? It is well-known that HiSo Bangkokians look down their long noses at anyone from Isaan. Isaan stunners are able to make $50k+ USD per annum if decent-looking and accommodating. Now halt thousands of family incomes across Isaan what happens? The Thai Giov't singlehandedly gave life to the shirts that are of the color red. Not good and certainly not smart. Thailand is destabilizing themselves. T h a k s i n has been given a cause to return.
TAT prints up some fancy fliers and billboards to announce some new program, a joke. Thais have never heard of the term "market research." Punters will vacation elsewhere. Isaan will be hit hard. Violence in Thailand will skyrocket as funds never arrive. Pol Pot would be proud, smiling from his grave. One of his actions was eerily similar to the Thai proposal: eliminate money. Next, all market will be banned.
A portend for this trend is easy perceived the way that Thai Immigration went about jacking up their Long Term Non-Immigrant "O" Visa fees. I had a valid one for 13 years, which cost me approx $145. USD per annum, including a single re-entry stamp. Suddenly they went to 800k in a Thai Bank or hire an Immigration Service that charged $750 USD for a bond in lieu of the 800k. This is damaging to the many military retirees living up in Udon and Ubon, a very careless policy change. Even those that paid the exorbitant new fees found out later that upon departure from the Kingdom, those new pricey visas are suddenly null and void. Typical Thai "gotcha." Their kamoi mindset is apparent as the Chinese ripping every businesses off for its IP. Standard Asia fare. If Thai Gov't wants falangs to return, an annual Long Term Retirement Extension needs to be priced $250 USD or less.
But what do I know?
Sad to say goodbye to the Kingdom. In Pattaya, the current level of punters have it okay---for now. Soon enough, once Walking Street gets bulldozed, the Thai BiB will begin picking off the remaining falangs one-by-one. Pol Pot did the same. Before corona, we had safety in numbers if anything went wrong. I could find good info here on TV, or at Nikom over a cold Leo. Those days are gone. It is the ecosystem that the Thai Gov't doesn't grasp: the knock-on effects. They will be horrific by Christmas 2020. We all see it coming.
Thailand has killed the golden goose. Hookers are the capstone of the baht pyramid, but Thai Govt fails to look at the baht-velocity: the various kitchens, fruit vendors, rent, clothing, shoes, hair salons, massage shops, motorsai taxis, motorbike purchases for themselves and gfs, all gone. Batten down the hatches lads, by Christmas, we will revisit this volatile subject. I see no good coming from this whatsoever. A mighty storm is brewing.

TAT is a running comedy show. How many of us punters recall their ill-advised repackaging of Pattaya as the "HoneyMoon Capital of the World?" Recall that two-year stunt? I've heard that many Eastern European couples busted up over that stupid marketing plan. As in formal complaints filed with The Hague.
Medical Tourism? Too pricey. The deal is to get sliced 'n diced in Chennai, Indian. Indian Hospitals are much better and affordable vs Thai Hospitals. Once stable, then fly to Thailand to rehab. India is too rough to rehab. I've done 5 major surgeries in India and their doctors, hospitals and staff are all World Class.

...its difficult to row a boat to BKK. A RT flight from USA used to be 30k baht.
Now the price is about 426k baht. Sure thing.

Thai Immigration crickets?
TI has done a fantastic job ridding it's country of "dirty falang." They need to revamp it's entire approach towards falangs. They made it abundantly clear "no falangs" is their ultimate goal. How is that working out? Falangs returning to LOS? Maybe. Check back in four years.

There is this annoying video add about getting rich quick that used to obscure the right hand side of the screen now appears dead centre. Half the time when I try to close it I end up with the scam artists selling their snake oil. Can the moderators do something about this?

Thai Immigration took a decent cash cow of "Embassy Affidavit System" used in the Long Term Non-Immigrant "O" Visa, trashed it because $145 USD per annum wasn't enough for all the fingers in the pie. The $145 included a Single Re-Entry Stamp.
Now it is over $650 USD annually for the same thing, more hassle, not less.
When I departed Suvarnabhumi, a high ranking Thai Immigration Officer was perplexed why I had not renewed my Long Term Retiremement at highway robbery rates.
Just isn't worth it, Pattaya is finished, stick a fork in it.
ALWAYS Falang fault. He not jai dee.

interesting take here that a population with malaria exposure more likely to resist corona virus.

...interesting podcast here. Research suggests that population where various forms of malaria are present have a built-in immunity to coronavirus.

...I arrived Thailand in early November with my return ticket just before Songkran. By New Years' and hearing of the Wuhan 2019 n_CoV, I began sussing out flights. Once Chinese flights were blocked by Trump, I realized Thailand would never halt flights from Wuhan. I flew out of Thailand in late January.
People had MONTHS too get their ass out of town. If Thais know they got you over a barrel, who is the fool now?

PM Prayuth Chan Ocha is waiting....waiting....waiting...until he can go "full Wuhan on Thailand."
Whatever that means. Maybe free massages for everyone?

Lacrimas...you need to download and watch that movie "The Crying Game" again. Yeah, the lesson about the frog and the scorpion.
Which part did you not understand? The 100k baht "loan" was just an opening move. In Thailand, FAMILY trumps all. You know how Thais love aquariums, plantings, etc? Thais populate their vases with fish that feast upon mosquito larvae. Any falang that trusts a Thai with any funds is two notches BELOW the social standing of mosquito larvae.
You can thank me later.

Kf6...can you post a few pics of your bike, no license plate showing? Many punters in Pattaya and elsewhere know their motorbikes extremely well. If your bike shorted out during a power wash, what do you think will happen during rainy season?
Best to buy a new Honda Wave 125i from Mityon----which is fuel injected.

Is such fraud common?"
The only fraud committed was your lack of due diligence. Honda swapped to its excellent F1 Fuel Injection system in 2009 model year. No carbs...so you must've purchased a unicorn.

....spot on Nervona. There is a huge operation going down, cloaked by this corona stuff. Who in Phuket area remembers US Marshalls, Embassy, IRS, ATF all arriving at Butt-Buddies Obama's house in Phuket, retrieving all the stolen GOLD that bahthaus Barry has sequestered there? The gold really Obama's stolen Solyndra funds. This was November-December 2018.
Mass round up of many International Criminal Gangs, made easier by all of Pattaya Bars being shuttered.

good podcast on hopeful coronavirus cures.....any Chemists out there?

my take is that PM Chan-Ocha looks tired is that he has been burning the midnight oil trying to keep Thailand together. If he told all he knew, the shock might be too great.
