  1. Hi.

I'd first start with your Embassy in Bangkok, pull them up on the web and look under child passports etc. There will be probably a lot of paperwork to be completed and it may take some time and be a hassle but in the end you'll have it. Good luck and preserver.

  2. Hello again to all. It looks as though we've found a good home for our dog!!! They will be picking her up this coming Friday to take her to her new abode. If this falls through I'll post again but I hope it doesn't. Thank you all for your input. Cheers. Tixe.

  3. Hello to all. As the title says this is not easy for us and indeed breaks our hearts to even offer our beautiful dog up for adoption. We have just recently had a baby arrive in the family and in my child's best interest..I need to find our dog a new home. About our dog: She is a 10 month old Bangkeaw, absolutely stunning in looks and in nature. I don't belive she's got a bad bone in her body. She has been fully vaccinated etc and nothing has been spared on her care and the love given to her, as I said this is not easy. What we are looking for is a GOOD home and master for her. She will protect you and love you. She has done just that since she was a pup for us. If you want to look up on her breed etc look at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Bangkaew_Dog (this is truely an amazing animal in body and spirit)

If you think you can help her like only a dog lover can...please p.m as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

P.S. We are in the the Chalong area.

  4. Also curious.. If you had to pick one or two days / events, and wanted to see the most extreme of the piercing / firewalking / ladder climbing / fireworks / etc..

Does anyone have a top couple of times / days to plan to ??

If I remember correctly, it was THIS COMING THURSDAY or FRIDAY a year ago in the heart of Phuket City at about 8.30 am. We wondered down to the 'clock roundabout' and watched the procession come through. It was truly amazing but not for the faint hearted. Get into the city early, listen for the sound of the procession...you'll find it soon enough. A word of warning though, ride instead of driving - the roads and streets are very hard to get through at these times in a car. Hope this helps.

  5. Yes, they were doing the rounds in the sois in and around near mine in Chalong. They seemed to be writing down the addresses of houses that interested them, perhaps for a 'special visit' in the near future. I dare say they would have rung the bell but the dogs were going crazy at the gate. I love my dogs. :)

  6. So you think it is great that they let you drive 3 times up and down and when they at last run out of fans they give you back your money because not doing so would make the thieves. :)

No, I don't. I was hot and slightly bothered but did think that they were doing their best. To be sure I could have 'asked' for a refund at anytime but did not. These were brand new fans, one would think you would get 1 out 3 to work. Anyway.

  7. Hi folks, I thought you may appreciate what happened to me two days ago whilst shopping at Home Pro in Chalong. I will try and keep the story brief.

Firstly, I went to buy a large outdoor fan. I decided on the Hatari 22 Inch Industrial model (2200Baht) as I've bought Hatari before and they've always worked well. All is good, paid, go home and set it up. It works but seems very slow...i watch it for a while and decide no, this is crap. I go back and explain, "no problem bring back and exchange" I do. They check the old one "no good", check another from a new box "no good". At last they say do I want the 'Display one'?? Yes I do, and take it home in my car (1km away). Install and turn on, the buttons/switches don't work. I take it back. By the way I'm very calm and not bothered too much. They exchange it again and check the 'new one' "okay". I go home.... this one is broken also. I go back. So after having 3 new fans within about a 2hour period I'm thinking that they're going to give me grief or at least think I'm a little dodgy. No. The manager came over and said: "We are very sorry Sir, please have a full refund and continue shopping with us or perhaps look elsewhere" I took the cash option and decided to buy a different model.

At the end of the day I just have to say that their customer service skills' were great, friendly, understanding and very helpful. It feels nice to pass on a happy story. By the way, the new Hatari is great.

    Cheers.

  8. Hi,

I have been researching a suitable TEFL course for the last few months. In that time, I've gathered a lot of information that is confusing the heck out of me.

Some sites tell me that all I need is a TEFL certificate to teach conversational English and grammar in Thailand but then there are other sites that tell me I need to have a BA in education, a teachers qualification, and according to some sites, I have to sit an exam before embarking on a TEFL career.

I don't want to teach the other subjects. I'm just interested in teaching little ones how to grasp the English language in a conversational way and to be able to hold there own. I'm also interested in teaching adults the English language.

The ITTT site pretty much explains that I don't need any previous teaching experience to do the 100 hour TEFL course which is my gateway to teaching in Thailand, well anywhere overseas. After the initial introductory course, I understand that they will assist me in getting a teaching role. I figure it is probably better to do the 250 hour online course as well.

Does anyone have any clearer ideas they are willing to light my direction with? I am a tad confused, and I don't want to be paying money for a couple of courses that may not net me a move toward my goal.

I look forward to the replies.

Degree (any B.A will do) + teaching certificate (TEFL,Celta, etc) needed to obtain a work permit. Also, you will need a police clearance report from your home country before they issue you with a work permit. Good luck and have fun, it can be a fantastic and very rewarding job.

  9. Hi all. I have a fairly new Honda Wave but the black paint on the engine casing is coming off. It now is starting to look like crap. What I was wondering was, what is the best way to repair this problem? I imagine that just getting the local motorbike shop to repaint it may result in it coming off again in the future or worse. Has anyone had any experience in getting a 'decent' repair like this done before? If so could you please advise as to where you go it done etc etc. Thanks in advance.

  10. its easy to make..I just made some for a grape arbour..but here there is softwood(cedar)...their hardwood is tough to cut, and hard on sawblades.. you need 1 by 2 inch pieces..If you are near our place ( Sukdidet area) I could show you..we're in Phuket next week, carpenter

Yes, guess it's possible. Thank you for the info and advice. I shall see how i go and maybe i'll get in contact. Thanks.

  11. I have not seen it around, perhaps due to timber's short life here in the tropics. I would imagine you'd need something with a long life span and one that the termites didn't feast upon.

Yes i agree about the life span bit. I have a large metal gate with gapes between the pailings of about 10cm. I was thinking bamboo but it may not look so good and also be a bugger of a job to put together etc. The other option is that green plastic mesh stuff but that too would look no so good. Any ideas?

  12. Hi all. I've been looking to buy some wooden lattice for my fence to add more privacy. Has anyone seem this product around? is it expensive? Thanks in advance.
