  1. Dear Friends,

    Security Threat in Pattaya.

It is clear that the Government's sterling efforts to contain the threat by Islamic terrorists are experiencing difficulties.

Terror organisations, many of them based in Malaysia but heavily funded by Iran such as the fanatic Sword of Islam - a Paris based terror group, are exporting their well organised horror into our backyard -into the homes of our friends - the Thai people and us.

Teheran, Damascus and the Euro-Muslims are organising as you read this. None of them could have hoped for a better opportunity to increase their evil power base than the raid on the mosque last week.

Most of you will have read in the Newspapers or seen on TV or the .Net warnings from various Government sources and highly placed Military, Police and political figures. Add to these, the serious warnings from the major international communities.

Pattaya, as many of you may have noticed has a disproportionately huge Muslim community. I am told that there are more mosques than Buddhist Wats.

When the Islamic Committee and the Muslim Council leaders came to ponder whether they would meet Prime Minister Taksin - following the terror attacks in the South which opened this chapter - they did not chose Bangkok - they stayed in Pattaya.

We are part of the Thai community. We chose to be and they permit this. It is not worthy of us to "leave them to it" - let us not leave all the vigilance needed to them - rather let us, of the International Community in Thailand - JOIN the Thai people in this difficult time.

I propose you use this e-mail - [email protected] - to bring ANY suspicious behaviour to the attention of the Thai Authorities. Or call HelpLIne - 061-451-583. or send an SMS. Or set up your own centre.

There are thousands of us who live here and want to continue living here. Many of you visit and enjoy - just the places these cowards wish to target.

Be especially vigilant if you are in a Discotheque, or a large enclosed space, such as a Cinema or a Shopping Mall.

The Muslim terrorists have witnessed the incredible success of the 911 attacks in disrupting the business of a whole nation. Their most optimistic hopes were exceeded not only in the number of innocents they murdered in Bali - but in the destruction of Bali's economy for years and more years to come.

Imagine the impact on Pattaya if there is a similar horror in one of our discotheques packed to overflowing with young Thai and foreign kids.

If there is time - don't act on your own if you see someone behaving strangely - call the Police. Parcels or packages left on their own - warn someone wearing a uniform.

Now keep your eyes open - don't worry about being wrong and calling the Police out to check a pickup laden with LPG cylinders outside a disco - the Police are trained and able to question but they cannot be everywhere all the time.

If any of you have any ideas to protect our city - please let me have them or start your own circuit. If any of you would like to meet to discuss, call me or email me.

    Best wishes,

    Chris Hill

  2. "Why does the American Embassy refuse to help out in Pattaya and are they the only one ?"

No U.S.Citizen Services (to be sarcastic) is not the only one which does nothing for its citizens in distress.

    They have companions in sloth.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Togo, Burkino Faso, Mocambique, North Korea,

However, the above African countries do not have an embassy or consular office closer than Beijing.

If you are an American in Thailand - and you are in any kind of trouble - you can expect almost no help at all.

Anywhere which is too far from the shopping or cocktail circuits for the slugs in USCS could be on the moon for all the care they show.

Americans - get angry about it - these "uncivil self-servants" are a disgrace to the honor of the USA.

They lend a new meaning to "High powered inertia".

  3. Pattaya Jail:

This is the first prisoner murdered since Felix Hartman in November 2002.

If the next of kin of the late Mr Dunn need help, call me, Chris Hill, HelpLine - 061-451-583.

    American Embassy: U.S. Citizen Services.

Of all the foreign embassies based in Thailand, including the Arab, Iranian, Russian embassies (and HelpLine deals with them all) Americans in trouble are warned that USCS refuses to give them any assistance in Pattaya and compared to other Diplomatic Missions - nearly none in Bangkok.

I have found them consistently uncaring, breathtakingly slothful, arrogant.

Americans in trouble are advised to notify the Embassy - but for anything to be done, contact your local congressman or State Senator. Let them know that you have been advised the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok is actively unhelpful.

If you really get in trouble you could try the Canadians - they ARE good.

    Yours aye,

    Chris Hill

  4. In our work with the jail population of course we come across the paeodophile perverts. We all manage to stay as "neutral" as we are required to do, but it is difficult with this abhorrent predilection.

    Categories.

Of the 42 paedophiles gone through our care in the past 2 and a half years, only -3- were abusing a female child.

For those who are currently abusing children, truly, I hope you find yourself in a Thai prison for this offence. 3 years or 3 months it is extremely unlikely you will be able to have any form of sex with any person or thing ever again.

  5. Dear Friends in this excellent website and forum,

thank you for your kind words.

Bruno, in reply to your question,

[Do you have any French citizen jailed because he (she) was caught with less than 20 day overstay?]

    Yes.

The Nationality of the foreigner overstaying is NOT taken into account by the authorities. Never. There are NO special national deals - French or otherwise.

However, I DO know first hand of Consular officers telling their own nationals that it is OK to pay at the airport on the way home or out of the country.

Example: A foreigner comes for a 35 day holiday and gets a visa on arrival for 30 days.

He somehow gets sent to me - I tell him,"Come with me to Immigration and we will put it right." He says, " but I spoke with the Consul and he told me to just pay at the airport."

Dear Friends - the Consul IS wrong ! I will take you to Immigration and they will want to see your passport, your air ticket (or an overland voucher to Cambodia or Laos will do) and 1,900 baht.

A lot for 5 days or even ONE day you may say. True. But a deportation will cost you a LOT more. Though we have been able to achieve certain improvements in the jail - it is still very terribly horrible. IDC in Bangkok too.

IF you are overstay for ONE day - YOU and no one else - have created an invitation to jail, Court and deportation.

If for any reason you are required to show the Police your passport - the overstay (yes even one day or part of one day) IS your invitation to jail.

and your Consular officer who told you not to worry - will chuckle lugubriously and say, "Bad luck hey?"

We are our own keepers over the age of 16.

Looking forward not to seeing you in trouble,

  6. Overstay:

In Pattaya with a team of wonderful people we visit foreigners in jail or hospital.

If you are picked up by the Police for ANYTHING - and they check your passport and see that you are OVERSTAY by even ONE day (+7 hours is our soonest) - You Will go to jail, you WILL go to Court where you WILL be convicted and WILL be fined a tiny amount and you WILL be deported.

There is no appeal unless you have say a doctor's certificate or a hospital chit dated PRIOR to your arrest.

Overstay - LISTEN TO NO-ONE who tells you to pay it at the airport or border point - or you might have to put up with me for a few weeks.

Incidentally, about 76% of ALL our foreign prisoners in Pattaya and the local remand prisons are overstay offences.

We have a Helpline through the Pattaya Expats Club - it is 061-451-583.

    Helpline E-mail is [email protected]

Hoping not to see you in trouble,

    Chris Hill
