  1. Forget all the fancy meters and metal types.

We had the same problem or similar years ago.

    Easy fix.

Piece of 3/4" galv pipe 6'-0" long ,bottom "pinched closed", drill 2 X 1/8" holes an inch up from the bottom.

Get bloody big heavy hammer and drive it into the ground until about 4" above the ground. Use 1 or 2 good strong hose clips and clamp your house earth wire to it.

Now the "Trick" fill the galv pipe with old engine oil. Top it up once a year. NEVER had a problem, and yes we also earth the steel roof through this pipe so for sure its earthed some lightening over the years and it is still like new.

Old ways are many times better than the so called "High Tech" ways, they are proven.

  2. To. Robroona

You have made my point well. FYI I am a retired amry general. I only wish I had had you in my barricks. Then we would see if you would speak disrespectful like this!! I think not.

Going by your remarks I suggest you should go try some time where "DISCIPLINE" is taught. Then everyone could judge you for what you are.

No I am not going to make this a "Slinging Match" with you, I am far too busy to communicate with "UNDISCIPLINED" people like yourself.

Im off to Dinner at Barricks in BKK

  3. I expect the "Do Gooders" to jump on me. But its time to say what needs to be said.

Nothing wrong with getting a good "Belting" from a teacher OR ANY OTHER PERSON IN AUTHORITY. I got it plenty of times including the "Cane".

It did me nothing but good, never grew up wanting to go around beating people etc.

I joined the army and again the word "DISCIPLINE" was all known to us and "ACCEPTED WITHOUT QUESTION".

Look around you today at the kids that believe they are in charge and dont have to answer to anyone. Rules are rules and we MUST live by them its that simple.

Instead of parents running around looking after themselfs try staying home and teaching your kids "GOOD OLD DISCIPLINE".

Then we might ALL enjoy a safer place to live in.

OK you lot go for it, but I dont realy care what you want to say in response. But if it helps you "Do gooders" go for it, but you might be better to go tell your dog as I wont be interested in what you got to say.

  4. Hello London Paul, My family has 500 years of farming, I was bought on "The Land" in NZ.

I moved to Thailand more than 20 years ago, bought 50 Rai of land about 50kms north of Chiang Mai. It was the pick of the land the best available in the area.

We went into farming "Thai Style" what a head ache and after all these years its still a head ache. To the point we have now got the farm on the market.

Happy to talk to you in detail if it helps you.

  5. its dead easy to check pump head.

You say 12 mt so get 12mt of same size pipe as pump outlet sit in a big bucket of water and start pump.

If it pushes water out the top of the 12mt pipe then the pump is ok.

if pump is ok maybe try putting it further down the well, maybe just maybe your water level is lower than you think/

  6. The fire burning is never going to stop. Been here for 20years, the last 8 o 10 have become the worst ever.

My wife went to the village boos to complain about the many local fires and was told "In polite but firm manner" they vote for me I am NOT going to upset them."!

Until this thinking changes by force from the central government nothing is going to change.

We intend to live through it this year yet again but next year we are moving out and hopefully sell the property before next year.

I tell the locals if you want to die that's fine by me, but I don't so must I breath in your cancer smoke. Their reaction? you guessed it.

"If you don't like leave Thailand

If you die that's good many Thais get rich.

What a place after 20 years nothing seems to be getting better.

  8. OK I have a 30 rai farm here and tried ALL the "Brushcutters" the Honda 4 stroke (NOT A COPY) has cost more in repairs than the original price!!!

Bought a 4 stroke Robin now made by Subaru takes the hard work without any fuss. Had it on farm for 1 year and never missed a beat.

We use it on a farm NOT around a house it gets worked hard at every use.

Yes it was expensive but has NEVER cost a baht in repairs.

  9. We are looking at returning to our home town Dunedin NZ after being away for some 33 years.

We are wanting to ship ALL our belongings, house hold goods, cars, motor bikes, and some engineering tools back. we have a lot of items as we have a 5 bedroom house plus the workshop so will need large container.

Are looking for a "Honest" shipper here in Chiang Mai to do the job for us.

We have contacted NZ Govt, there is NO problems with them for us to ship back to NZ no need to pay any taxes or Govt fees.

As a side issue we are selling our city house is 580m2 on 105 Whai. Very nice and well build to NZ/OZ standards. Asking 4.5 Mil Thai Baht

Also our 30 Rai Farm with No 1 papers with 3 small houses a very large "Homestead" house of 1500m2 asking 28 Mil Thai Baht with a lot of farming equipment.

  10. I cant see how that is possible when both owner and buyer sign a contract clearly stating the sale price. I have clients that want to list their property and stipulate an unrealistic price, its wasting my time as it wont sell so they either accept a fair valuation or I dont list it. Other agents will list it but never sell it then the owner wonders why. You wouldnt tell a mechanic how to repair your car or a dentist to do dental work its the same in real estate, let the people that know the industry do the work.

I am not going to get into a "Slanging Match" with you.

Your statements ALL point to you being a "Realestate" person.

I am happy to communicate with "Real Life" people not those that spend their time "Trying to Prop Up their image"

    about yourself NOT here.

All we asked for was a name of a GOOD realestate Agent in CNX is that too much to ask with out people like you running off in some completely different direction.

Please go to another subject and tell everybody how good you are!!!

We will NOT respond to any more of your statements, we have better things to with our lifes!!.

  11. This is the problem why so many properties do not sell. An agent should value the property and refuse to list it if the vendor believes they kniw better.

What a response, I take it you are a "Real-estate" person??

I have been buying & selling properties around the world, and doing OK.

I am somewhat concerned at your comment in that you maybe you are "Under Valuing" Peoples property and setting up ghost buyers at very low pricing then on selling at a huge profit. I know well the tricks and dishonesty of "Realestate" agents.

  12. Hi Canada,

Sorry have to disagree with you 100%. As I said I am from "Farming Stock" and have an 'Engineering Back Ground"

I have many many wells up here in CNX and I knew "Exactly" what I wanted and most important "How I wanted It Done"

All my wells are 100M plus deep, ALL cased (Lined), etc. Its NOT PhD material.

Haven't had ANY trouble with PUMPS or WELLS. Never even had to clean them out, haven't even lifted a motor & pump out in at least 7 years!!!!!

It seems the problem here is someone with no real knowledge of farming or in particular wells etc has gone about looking for water without asking the right people the proper way of doing so.

Welcome to call me on my mobile if you want some advice on this matter on 0911418611

  13. Hello Maidu,

    Thank you for your reply.

However I note that you did not or were not able to answer any of my questions.

Your idea of float switches etc is I am sorry to say a "Bandage" to a problem that is NOT going to go away.

Float switches on deep well pumps is a "No NO" . Deep well (Including Sub type) are NOT designed for short ON/OFF cycles. They will burn out.

I have "Sub Pumps" here that have been down the well for 10 years with no problems and still pumping with new pump flow rates.

Our pumps on all our farms pump from 2500 liters to 5000 liters a time.

If you are unwilling to repair or what ever your wells then I feel the best thing for you to do is to drop a small pump down the well so it will run longer.

But at the end of the day its your farm & pump.

  14. Before I start DONT jump down my throat for what I am about to say.

    To Maidu,

I read your 1st question and can suggest the following. I am from a farming family with 300 years of farming so I cut my teeth on pumps & wells. I have spent the last 40 years as a "Mech. Design Engineer".

That over with I would like to ask you:

    how deep are your wells?

When did you last have them cleaned out?

    What are liners made of?

    What dia. are the liners?

What dia are the bore holes?

What material did you fill between the liner and bore holes.

Yes I know Im going back to the basics but once we know this there may well be an easy way to over come your problem, I have a number of farms over here in the Chiang Mai area ALL with deep well pumps.
