My Non-Immigrant B visa is due to expire on 26 April and as I'm retiring, I have no intension of renewing my work permit and extending the 'B'. Before the pandemic, I had planned to leave Thailand for a trip to Vietnam and re-enter on a 30 day entry permit before visiting KL in June for non-imm O visa.
I have been paying in 65k into my Bangkok Bank account since August 2019, however I do not have 800k to hand at present. I'm not sure what to do next. I'm in Phuket and in lockdown in my district until 30 April, so I can't event visit Immigration to check with them before 1 May.Also as I understand it the visa amnesty until July is for tourist visas only.
Does anyone with good knowledge have an idea of what I should do now?

It could also be a case of the agent not being the best / not providing the necessary docs (not as if they would admit this).
For this run, I would re-enter by land and use up one of her 2 land-border visa-exempt entries per calendar year.
Bummer to have that in her passport - hopefully will not stop her from being able to get Tourist Visas from more "friendly to PI" consulates in the future.
Thanks Jack. I was wondering about this agent and I have noticed the Penang Consulate getting more particular in issuing visas.
Can anyone recommend a friendly consulate in the region to get an SETV?

A Filipina friend first arrived in Thailand on 20 December 2017, which was extended to 17 February 2018 at Phuket Immigration. She travelled to Penang with a visa run service on Tuesday, they took her to Ravi Sharma Travel, who took her passport and application for a SETV. Yesterday she had her passport returned with the visa stamped void. Neither the agent, Ravi Sharma Travel or the visa run driver gave any information about why her visa was refused.
Can anyone shed some light on what could have happened here? To re-iterate, her first ever time in Thailand was on 20 December 2017, also she has a clean record. -

It's not double pricing. All nationalities get the movie discount at 65. I get it in the USA too.
Agree it's not double pricing. Same in the UK too. Many countries have reduced rates for children and people of retirement age. Good to see that the cinemas are not discriminating against non-Thais with this.

As I recruit new teachers at my school, I believe I can offer good advice on this. I recommend you start applying now for a new teaching post. Many schools, certainly the better ones, have already recruited or are actively recruiting teachers for the new semester in May. They like to get this done before April when the majority are shut apart from skeleton staff and summer camps. The longer you leave it, the lesser your chances of a good opportunity. My advice is to start looking today to find a new school you can continue your career at.

It is the Thai way not to ask questions, whereas Farangs will question almost everything. When contracts are written, often the school's administration will not think to include in all those little extras that build up and annoy us as it is the Thai way to accept it as part of their duties.

Thanks for the advice. Her parents are over 50 and will go to Immigration today.

My Filipina colleague has just realised that her parents Non O visa, which they got as her dependants expired on 1st January, however her Non B visa extension is valid until 31st March.
She is now unsure as to what to do as they are now on overstay. Does she take them to Immigration, pay the fine and get an extension in line with hers or do they need to leave the country, pay the fine and get a new visa?
Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

It's an MG CS concept car.

Traffic tonight will be a nightmare around most of Phuket. Bang Wad Dam in Kathu is a good place to celebrate Loy Krathong but travel by motorbike, too much traffic for a car.

UK's rank is not surprising to me:....They are driving on the wrong side of the street
Clearly you do not know the reason behind driving on the left. it is historical and dates back to knights in armour riding horseback. Oops, some countries don't have that much history.
Yes, it was the norm to keep your horse and carriage on the left side of the road until the French decided to be awkward and switch to the right, thus the French colonies drove on the right and mainland Europe ended up doing the same.

Thailand 38.1 road deaths per 100,000 population.
UK 3.7 road deaths per 100,000 population.
Perhaps the reporter from the National News Bureau of Thailand failed to see the decimal point between the 3 and the 7 Doh!

Too much lesson time is currently disrupted doing other activities. As a result students lose focus and it's difficult to get it back. The proposal to have a shorter day could work well as long as the hours up to 2 o'clock are devoted to study. Activities could then be conducted after 2 pm.

And yet the other day there was a report that hundreds of people came to his house to pay their respects.
That is how you recognize a corrupt from a honest official in Thailand, since the honest one doesn't have
parasitesfriends. He was popular with the people, his achievements included the introduction of the pink baht buses running through Phuket City. Many teachers from our school went to is house paying their respects, I'd hardly call them parasites.

Yes, didn't you know millions of Europeans and Americans went ahead and booked holidays in Thailand upon hearing the news. Phuket airport is already reporting a 20% increase in passengers this weekend. Hahaha

Brian at Summit.
I currently have the standard IRCs on my PCX125 and am finding the grip in the wet is very poor. I have been to a number of Honda dealers and the main tyre shop for bikes looking for the Dunlop 990s but they all tell me that the standard IRCs is all that's available. I noticed you said the IRC Wings are a great option. Are they good in the wet or are the Dunlops a better option?

I'm an 'over 50 year old' who after careful consideration, bought PCX last Friday. I shopped around Phuket and paid 71,000 baht, all in price for Candy Red one.
Apart from what I consider to be a stunning looking scooter, a point that my colleagues agree with me on, the PCX produces a smooth ride, excellent acceleration, superb braking and lovely handling. Have only done 200 km so far and therefore unsure of the fuel consumption but the tank appears to be about a third full still, so I'm reckoning the fuel economy is going to be very good. I am using the idle stop, finding it works perfectly and it's great to be sitting on a vibration free bike whilst stationary at the lights.
Another plus point is that I can park it with the big bikes, so no need to fight my way into a tight parking space at a car park, only to return and find someone has come along, moved it a bit in order to squeeze their bike in.
Complicated position regarding Non-Imm visa

Than you Joe. I did not realise that for the first extension I only needed a few months of transfers. Unfortunately my district doesn't have a mobile office but I might ask the police if they can let me through the cordon to visit immigration.
