If you cannot apply for your extension you do qualify for the amnesty. It is not limited to a tourist visas.

If you have proof your have been transfering 65k baht into a Thai bank account from abroad you do not need 800k baht in the bank. For the first extension you only need a few months of transfers.

You could change change the reason for your extension to retirment without leaving the country.

Phuket immigration has set up some mobile offices. There should be one of those you could go to find out about applying for the extension.

Than you Joe. I did not realise that for the first extension I only needed a few months of transfers. Unfortunately my district doesn't have a mobile office but I might ask the police if they can let me through the cordon to visit immigration.

  2. My Non-Immigrant B visa is due to expire on 26 April and as I'm retiring, I have no intension of renewing my work permit and extending the 'B'. Before the pandemic, I had planned to leave Thailand for a trip to Vietnam and re-enter on a 30 day entry permit before visiting KL in June for non-imm O visa.

I have been paying in 65k into my Bangkok Bank account since August 2019, however I do not have 800k to hand at present. I'm not sure what to do next. I'm in Phuket and in lockdown in my district until 30 April, so I can't event visit Immigration to check with them before 1 May.

Also as I understand it the visa amnesty until July is for tourist visas only.

Does anyone with good knowledge have an idea of what I should do now?

It could also be a case of the agent not being the best / not providing the necessary docs (not as if they would admit this).

For this run, I would re-enter by land and use up one of her 2 land-border visa-exempt entries per calendar year.

Bummer to have that in her passport - hopefully will not stop her from being able to get Tourist Visas from more "friendly to PI" consulates in the future.

Thanks Jack. I was wondering about this agent and I have noticed the Penang Consulate getting more particular in issuing visas.

Can anyone recommend a friendly consulate in the region to get an SETV?

  4. A Filipina friend first arrived in Thailand on 20 December 2017, which was extended to 17 February 2018 at Phuket Immigration. She travelled to Penang with a visa run service on Tuesday, they took her to Ravi Sharma Travel, who took her passport and application for a SETV. Yesterday she had her passport returned with the visa stamped void. Neither the agent, Ravi Sharma Travel or the visa run driver gave any information about why her visa was refused.
Can anyone shed some light on what could have happened here? To re-iterate, her first ever time in Thailand was on 20 December 2017, also she has a clean record.

  5. My Filipina colleague has just realised that her parents Non O visa, which they got as her dependants expired on 1st January, however her Non B visa extension is valid until 31st March.

She is now unsure as to what to do as they are now on overstay. Does she take them to Immigration, pay the fine and get an extension in line with hers or do they need to leave the country, pay the fine and get a new visa?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

I currently have the standard IRCs on my PCX125 and am finding the grip in the wet is very poor. I have been to a number of Honda dealers and the main tyre shop for bikes looking for the Dunlop 990s but they all tell me that the standard IRCs is all that's available. I noticed you said the IRC Wings are a great option. Are they good in the wet or are the Dunlops a better option?

  7. I'm an 'over 50 year old' who after careful consideration, bought PCX last Friday. I shopped around Phuket and paid 71,000 baht, all in price for Candy Red one.

Apart from what I consider to be a stunning looking scooter, a point that my colleagues agree with me on, the PCX produces a smooth ride, excellent acceleration, superb braking and lovely handling. Have only done 200 km so far and therefore unsure of the fuel consumption but the tank appears to be about a third full still, so I'm reckoning the fuel economy is going to be very good. I am using the idle stop, finding it works perfectly and it's great to be sitting on a vibration free bike whilst stationary at the lights.

Another plus point is that I can park it with the big bikes, so no need to fight my way into a tight parking space at a car park, only to return and find someone has come along, moved it a bit in order to squeeze their bike in.
