Im back in pattaya 16 april to celebrate our first wedding aniversary with the inlaws and i held on to fly back untill the last min. I have a house 5 mins away from pattaya centre so when i go to see friends who are staying central i will have to be traveling with my pregnant wife in the pick up as any bike travel will be too dangerous, due to morons aiming water cannons at youre face so it basically means i will be sat in traffic everywhere i go for the next bloody 4 days 2 days are more than enough for fooks sake!!

Not really as, during the last 2 days of Songkran in Pattaya, the effect of renting a car is not much different to renting a space in a car park!! You may keep dry but you sure as he.ll won't be getting anywhere in a hurry!

I used ATMs in Ohnom Penh, no probs. They issue USDs. Visa on arrival is a pain in the arse. There was a 15 minutes line up in front of 12-15 officers. As disorganised as the Thai immigration 20 years ago. No problem if you don't have a photo, they charge you $1 more. Better to do it online.

I got a THAI VISA in Phnom Penh 10 years ago and they were verym efficient. Don't know about now.

If so do I have to take $ with me, means I have to change them here from Baht, or can I change there into Riel?

I'm planning to stay over for abouth 4 nights, not only for the visa, but also to have a look around to see if it would be better for me to live there instead of Chiang Mai. Are there any nice beaches in Cambodja, and would $400 a month be enough to rent a nice house, 2-3 bedrooms and furnished?

Any suggestions where i can stay in PP at a guesthouse? Any one heard of DV8?

Also, do you know if there are agents who can do the visa stuff for me, for a fee of course.

I witnessed 2 big louts (Scottish) throwing buckets of water at passing motorbikes and songtaews at 8 am yesterday morning. Many of the unsuspecting motorbike riders swerved into the road almost causing a serious accident. I thought eventually these nutters will kill someone or someone will hurt them.

Surely enough, 30 or so minutes later a guy (ferang) on a motorcycle who was hit in the face with a bucket of water, and nearly crashed into a passing car, turned back to reproach the nut throwing the water. He pushed the nut in the chest then drove off. The nutt ran after him pulled him from his bike - causing the bike to crash, and started to beat the guy. Turned out the guy on the motor cycle was and elderly American guy. The nutters throwing the water were 2 Scottish retards - about 40 or so.

As far as I could see the nuts were using songkhran as an excyuse to try to kill people. All legal and in the name of fun.

And how did you know they were Scottish???

Read the story again. The elderly American was the idiot....turning back, then getting off his bike to assault the Scottish water thrower. That was a bad move and very stupid.

Being as he was an elderly man, maybe he did not expect the two young punks to pull him off his bike and assault him - as it was their fault in the first place. Never under-estimate a drunken Scottish

Think you should check out this theory about farangs wearing the same clothes for a day ,maybe you are doing this and think all farangs are the same.

I have minimum 5 showers a day/evening and every time i change clothes,albeit,singlet,shorts,unless i go out.This is a hot country and to suggest we dont change clothes everyday is mindblowing.you must have some dirty friends.

Yes, the problem was the English versions drop down list of banks was in Thai.

I finally figured it out though. What the drop down list did was add Kasikornbank's corporate name after the banks name you will find on there website and there letter head.

So, if anybody else has this problem Kasikornbank will be spelled in Thai, just like it is on there website, but they add two additional words after it, which you just have to forget.

If you do this like I did, which was to match up Thai alphabet characters to figure out what bank it is. With Kasikornbank, just use the first 12 alphabet characters and match up those only and forget about the last two words.

By the way, according to the information I gathered to use Paypal in Thailand there are only two banks you can do it with, either Kasikornbank or Bangkok Bank.

Which is too bad, because I use Siam Commercial Bank and there online services have improved significantly since I first started with them 4 years ago.

By the way, I called Paypal and the bank and nobody could help me at either place, I was left on my own to figure this one out.
