1. Hi Everyone,

My GF is currently looking for a maths tutor (university level, bachelor degree). Any recommendations on where and how to find a suitable tutor and also hourly rates would be highly appreciated.

She would need approx. 2-4 hours a week and could be anywhere in the Sukhumvit, Rama 4, Phra Khanong area.

    Many thanks in advance!!!

    Cheers,

    Bkkjingjoe

  2.
Aussie who died after street attack in Thailand to be buried

AN Australian tourist who died after being attacked in Thailand will be buried there tomorrow, farewelled by his pregnant Thai girlfriend and Adelaide family.

Andrew Oake, 28, had been holidaying in Prasat, near Surin in northeastern Thailand, for two months with his girlfriend, Som, who is six months pregnant.

About four weeks ago the pair were travelling between villages when they were set upon by two men on motorbikes.

Som ran for help while Mr Oake was slashed in the arms and head with a machete in what might have been a failed robbery.

His father, Roy Oake, said his son was first sent to a local hospital, but the tendons in his arm were severed, and he was sent to Bangkok for surgery.

Mr Oake said there was speculation Andrew could lose his arm, but he was urged to leave hospital by his travel insurance company.

He returned to Prasat, nine hours away, but later needed another operation in Bangkok and treatment for an infection that had developed in his arm.

At that point, Mr Oake says the insurance company ordered his son to return to Australia for treatment or it would end his policy.

He was making the trip back to Prasat to fetch his passport on Sunday when he died on the mini-bus.

Mr Oake, who arrived in Thailand with Andrew's brother and mother this week, said he hoped his son's insurance would provide for Som and the baby.

"I told them he was in no condition to travel anywhere," he said.

"He was fatigued, he was in pain, he wouldn't make it."

Som was last year married to Andrew by the local monks.

Their friend Travis Senne, an American living in Thailand, said he was concerned police had not made an arrest, weeks after the attack in the quiet town.

"Prasat is such a peaceful area, it's not a big city or anything," he said.

"Andrew was a very upstanding, honest person, a very responsible family man.

"He had a plan, a life plan, but it got cut short."

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokeswoman said staff had been in contact with the family and would provide all necessary consular assistance.

"The cause of death is a matter for Thai authorities to determine," she said.

    RIP Andrew!

  3. Check out Anantara Phuket or the Resorts at Laguna Phuket (for villas). Both are a bit pricey but you could probably some good discount rates right now.

  4. I think it doesn't really matter whether it was swine flu or not.

What matters is the fact how the government and the media are handling this.

Constantly publishing contradicting and misleading reports will not help to prevent the public from panicking (as intended by the officials).

The more they are trying to cover up and keep changing the facts, the more people will be concerned about the whole issue.

Just look at this thread...(and many other threads of the past 2-3 weeks ;-)

  5. Thanks a lot guys.

Actually, the company has zero liabilities and I am not trying to hide anything.

Accounting has been done in a very professional way and all is fully transparent.

I was just thinking that it should be worth something considering the set-up costs for registration etc.

Oh, btw.... we do have 4 Thai employees as well and they all have paid taxes and social security.

I'll probably ask my accountant then to just simply close it.

    Thanks again for your inputs.

  7. Hi, thinking about selling a Co., Ltd..

I already have a potential buyer but I would like to get some ideas about the value of the company (seperate from the business value).

The company is fully registered with 2,000,000 THB capital, all paperwork and licenses fully legal.

So what would the company be worth if I would sell it without any assets? Only the "shell" basically.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

  8. This is unbelievable. A Black Widow Spieder?

Even if they were staying in the same room, how likely would it be for two individuals to get bitten?

If I recall it right, all the English radio stations are directly und the Thai Government News Broadcast Agency.

So I could imaging some old government official siiting there and writing the scripts for them to read.

Just another attempt of covering up and misleading public opinion. I think the winning answer was already "pre-desigend" and there were no votes at all.

This is so sad, I don't think it is possible to trust any news at all.

So the big question is "why"....and when will they realize that this bs causes more harm than it does good to the country and tourism industry...

My deepest feelings and condolences again to the families and friends.

  9. So now it is on the headlines on CNN...

How long will it take to become a serious issue here for Thai media?

Two young people die, same island, same guesthouse, same symptoms,....

Here we go again with the "losing face" issue....LOS is losing face big time again.

And not because of the fact that this happened (it really does happen everywhere all over the world) but because of the fact that Thailand (or whoever is responsible) is covering sth up and for handling the investigation so poorly.

    Sad, very sad it is.

  10. I fully agree with you uhuh!

The medical report very much reminds me of what I usually get when I go to see a doctor.

After sitting down for two minutes and talking to the doctor, he/she writes out the diagnose (without testing anything except blood pressure).

To me, this is complete incompetency. I don't think it is possible to diognose something by looking into someones eyes.

I truly hope that this has not been the case with this handwritten and unprofessional looking autopsy report. And I tend to believe that the cause of death is something completely different.

I strongly advise the families and friends to do everything they can to get an independent report as well.

My condolences to you Rob and your family.

  11. I absolutely agree. Naming the bungalow should be top priority to warn the tourists down there.

My sister was planning on visitng me next week and also to go back to Phi Phi again.

Now she has cancelled the trip... it jsut all keeps adding up right now.

Funny thing is that people outside of Thailand keep getting these very negative news (riots, shootings, poisonings, fires in nightclubs, etc.). Even these events and incidents are not related, it is understandable that "outsiders" tend to link them togehter and simply think that Thailand is dangerous.

How many tourists have died, been murdered or raped or became otherwise victims of crimes such as robberies or break-ins?

I know that things like these happen all over the world...but for a country that still claims to be so buddhist and thus one of the safest countries in the world, it shouldn't happen!

Authorities should really focus and concentrate on the issues NOW before it gets even worse.

  12. Not sure if this belongs here....but I guess it does.

I was having dinner last night with my gf at a small Thai restaurant on Ekkamai.

We were sitting there and waiting for our food when the guy at the table next to us pulled out a gun and gave it to the young boy together with the car keys. The boy stood up and took the gun to the car (carrying it under his t-shirt).

I saw this and looked at the guy and he started staring at me with a look that said "you better be quiet".

I think many other guests at the restaurant saw this as well. 20 mins later the place was almost empty. Before, it was packed with over 100 people.

    Scary isn't it?

I mean nothing happened. But seeing the big bottle of JW on their table, you never now what might happen. Someone says something or in a wrong tone, someone looks at his girl in a wrong way and....

My gf reckonned that he was probably a police guy off shift or even undercover. So what? I don't see any reason that a guy needs to carry his gun to the restaurant where he is having dinner with his friends and some girls.

Very strange situation! Just had a feeling that it is these kinds of situations that easily get out of control.

Just some thoughts....on what is happening here around us.

My sincere condolences as well to the families and friends who have lost their loved ones.
